► Taskmaster: Season 2, Episode 1
Fear of Failure - Task 3
► Taskmaster is a British comedy panel game show created by comedian and musician Alex Horne and presented by both Horne and Greg Davies. In the programme a group of five celebrities - mainly comedians - attempt to complete a series of challenges, with Horne acting as umpire in each challenge and Davies, the eponymous "Taskmaster", judging the work and awarding points based on contestants' performances.
► Joseph Roland Wilkinson is an English comedian, actor and screenwriter. He began his comedy career in 2004 and has supported Alan Carr and Russell Howard on tour.[3] He has also made numerous appearances on television programmes such as Live at the Apollo and Live at the Electric and has been touring solo since 2011. He began appearing on 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown in 2012, initially as Rachel Riley's assistant. He has since gone on to become a frequent panellist or guest team captain. He is also in the comedy duo Two Episodes of Mash, alongside Diane Morgan. In 2019 Wilkinson won a celebrity special version of The Great British Bake Off (for Stand Up to Cancer UK).

I'm glad you've started with watching full tasks. Some of the clip compilations only show a single person's attempt and I think the real magic is watching how all five players compare to each other in a single task. Certainly there's fun in watching a compilation of all the disqualifications or of all the people finding loopholes, but it loses the impact when you don't see everyone's go.

  • @filmslate

I'm with you Basil.. compilations can be fun but it takes away from the subtleties and in-jokes that makes this show so special. I guess we'll see how this video performs and what everyone's general thoughts are for how we do more Taskmaster reactions. I'm considering recording full episodes, but then choosing the best segments to edit into reaction videos.. that way we get to understand the nuances of the whole program, while the reaction videos focus on the best parts :) Thanks for your comment!

Doc Brown is one of the most underrated contestants on Taskmaster. His 'harsh' at the end cracks me up every time. But Joe is definitely the star here; it's really hard to tell if the Joe Wilkinson on his knees pleading his case was Joe Wilkinson the comedian or Joe Wilkinson the comedy character played by Joe Wilkinson the comedian.

The potato task is the most epic, perfect tragedy ever made. From what I know, I don't think it is days. More like weeks or months. Taskmaster have had a task that was every day for 6 months! The potato task also show the personality of the other contestants that season in a perfect way. John being the rule master. He did touch the red green. Richard being the honorable one. If I would have wanted it, I am happy to see it given to others. Katherine claiming not to care and tearing up from not understanding why sports are so fantastic. Doc trying to get every advantage he can get. Thrown Joe under the bus, followed by "that's harsh". This is my own view of the competitors. I do want to be honest. To start off with the potato. Imo not the smartest thing. It is the best clip from taskmaster to date. There are some other good ones, but not at the level of potato. Imo not even close. I would reccomend talking to a swede and the compilation of disqualifying in taskmaster. Or is it named "times contestants was caught cheating" Don't remember the full name of the compilation, but I think you can find it. Otherwise I'll look it up. Great reaction!

  • @filmslate

Thanks for the insights Borg! Haha did we peak way too early watching the potato clip first? I get what you mean... maybe nothing else would quite live up to that moment. If it's any consolation, as the segment is about 15mins into season 2 episode 1, we did watch the first 15mins off screen just before we shot it so we were at least introduced to all the players. I think we might go back to season one and chip away in the order it was intended. Maybe shoot full episodes and cut down reaction highlights.. still figuring that side of it out! Thanks for the message mate! Much appreciated.

Oh My Goodness, you've fallen into the rabbithole that is Taskmaster. Welcome to the Madhatter's Party! There are so many classic series of this it's hard to pick any of them - even the not-quite-so-good series had nuggets of gold. In recent series, try watching some Victoria Coren Mitchell (David Mitchell's oh so smart wife) solving a puzzle or having to learn to ride a bike in five minutes. Plus the most recent series (14) was one of the best ever - there was excellent banter between the contestants on that one, particularly when four of them ganged up on the fifth. Which happened a lot and made the bits in the studio as hilarious as the tasks themselves. And Claudia Winkleman appeared on the New Year's Treat II, a one-off episode shown on 1 Jan 2022. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

We sure have Caroline! Thanks for all the suggestions haha it really is a deep rabbit hole! I've gathered that we are going to miss way too many inside jokes on the show if we jump around and watch the highlights.. So Im thinking we will go back to S01E01 and watch the full episode, we'll react to it as usual, but with the intention of only making reaction videos out of the best tasks.. So each episode may have 3-4 reaction videos from the tasks, and maybe some episodes may only get 1 or even 0.... that way we get all the inside jokes along the way, while still producing the most fun reaction videos that we can :) So, in short, expect plenty of taskmaster to come! Haha :D

This could be the longest list many ever written with recommendations to other tasks. One that is often a call back is but the taskmaster a present from season 1. Or "eat the melon", "empty the bathtub", "get the ice block to disappear" and "egg golf" is the tasks from season 1 that comes to mind, there are some good price tasks too. And then just in generally romesh being romesh losing his mind is pure joy. and this is just season 1. "write a song for a stranger" from season 5 is a half of fame task with the bild up to the task and the performance of the task is perfection. Season 5 was such a strong season too. "POV movie task was good", "build the highest tower of cans". Season 7 in itself is all best tasks. There are som many from that season it is impossible to choose, and it you haven't seen them all you don't why "build an extension to the taskmaster house" is even better that just seeing it alone. Sometimes I envy people who haven't had the pleasure of watching taskmaster so they get to see it for the first time.

  • @filmslate

Wow thankyou Nina for your detailed ideas! I definitely get the vibe from everyone in the comments that we are just missing out on inside jokes and the player dynamics if we jump around to random clips and seasons. This is what I think we we do, and by all means I'd love to hear your insights on if this seems like a good plan.. We are going to go back to S01E01, and watch the episode in full, reacting away and chatting as we normally would. By the end of the episode, we have potentially 5 tasks to make up to 5 reaction videos to upload on the channel. But instead of uploading all 5 just for the sake of it, we can have a threshold of if we found the clip funny enough/if we felt we added enough value to feel it was worth creating an individual clip from it. So some episodes may turn out to have 3-4 reaction videos, and some episodes may just have 1 reaction from it. Im thinking if we do it this way, we are catching all the inside jokes as we go along, still making videos that are maybe 10-15mins in length, and also cutting out some of the challenges that may not be "reaction worthy". Who knows, we may love every task and end up making 5 videos from each episode haha. What do you think? Thanks Nina :)

  • @filmslate

Thankyou sir! I think you're exactly right.. We'll go back to season 1, episode 1 and watch the full episode. We'll stop and chat as we go, but not with the intention of putting it all on a reaction video. We can then put together reactions of the clips we thought were the most entertaining or the ones where we thought we added the most value through our commentary. Maybe we make 3-4 clips from an episode, and maybe we just move on to the next episode if we didn't find any worthy. I'm thinking this way, it gets Blake up to speed on the show's dynamic, we don't miss out on any inside jokes that build up over the season, and we only use the best clips. That's my current plan of attack haha but as you know, I'm always up for suggestions! Do most taskmaster fans believe all segments are fantastic, or is there also a feeling that some segments can be hit or miss? Cheers G!

They also have a streaming service, where we can watch old episodes. So, I only watch specific Full Tasks, or specific compilations on YT. Hence, I don't feel I'm a typical YT Taskmaster fan to advise you. Based partly on my reading of comments, my feeling is you'll have to react to at least one entire episode (even if you release in pieces) to prove you've understood it. now it has gotten to a point that "we have another look" creates an audible shock in contestants and audience. But this was og and it came out of nothing.

The way Doc Brown (Ben Bailey Smith) turns against Joe at the end and then basically lies to him about it is totally preparation for his role as Blevin in Andor!

Joe was robbed. The curvature of the shoe means he never touched the red green. #PotatoTruthers

YES Boskee!! I'm a Potato Truther as well!! I would also like to add... if Richard was able to walk on materials which were on the green, using the argument that his feet never touched the green, the materials did.. Then it doesn't matter if Joe's shoe even touched the green or not.. it wasn't hit foot. #conspiracy

Why do you put your watermark over the video which isn't even yours. It's from task master yet the whole clip has your water mark, and the video is tiny as your face cams take up most of the room, to the point were you can barely see the clip. If your worried about it your video being stolen then your watermark is in the top right. I see no reason for you to cover the clip with it

Hey Dom! Oh it's not at all there because we think our video will be stolen, it's more of an added deterrent for people watching the clips for the first time through our channel. The video's focus is a couple of random Aussies reacting to UK content, so it's really for people who have seen these clips before and are specifically looking for reaction clips to them. The big watermarks are there so people who are seeing these clips for the first time are more inclined to go source the original clip. Cheers for the message mate, hope that clears it up for ya :D

For sure Flea! While editing I was thinking that if Richard can get away with stepping on some thin materials over the green, then the edge of Joe's shoe should be totally in play!

The more I see it...the more I hate Jon... It was 100% legal... Note how Joe's shoes point upward and DON'T TOUCH THE RED GREEN...and still haven't...
