    I’m appalled-I know she can defend herself, but no one should ever be permitted to say anything negative about the immaculate Fern Brady! Also I’m starting think that “fanny” doesn’t mean the same thing in the UK as here in the States. My childhood memories of “Lady Fanny of Omaha” are starting to take on new meanings for Michael Caine. Another innocent word ruined, like spunky.

  • @mehashi

    Fanny is kinda a kids word to describe female genitals. Like willy for boys. Imagine our shock as young brits when our USA supply teacher asked us to “scoot your fannies up” when we sat on a bench in gym class... XD

  • @SuperWolfkin

    @SuperWolfkin

    2 ай бұрын

    yeah so for the record it's not immediately obvious when you're watching UK programming but fanny very definitely doesn't just refer to the buttocks like it does in the US but specifically to the vulva/vagina. Have fun rewatching your favorite UK programs now ANd it must make watching "old fashioned" tv shows very hilarious to them. Heck I'm pretty sure there's Boys Meets World episode where Cory threatens to spank Topanga on her fanny and in the US that's hilariously old fashioned but from their perspective it's hilariously ribald.

    I won't deny there are some mini Acasters out there but Ivo is definitely not one of them. You just have to listen to any comedian talk about him to realise that's just who he is. The difference is huge, James (whom I love to death, btw) is largely playing a character, which Ivo very much is not.
