@@break5033 The following are expected starters for next year; Russell Wilson (3rd round), Nick Foles (3rd round, incidentally same class as Wilson), Dak Prescott (4th round), Kirk Cousins (4th round coincidentally the same draft class as Wilson and Foles) Tom Brady (6th round), Ryan Fitzpatrick (7th round), Case Keenum (undrafted). Out of those seven QBs, three were starting when they won Super Bowls. Point is don't count out middle-late round QBs.

@@Ash-zx5wu Those guys are outliers. Pretty sure if you listed all the mid to late round qb's from the last 20 years that most of them were backups or out of the league fast. Not to say they are always bad, just saying there are no real expectation for those guys to ever be franchise or even starter qb's.

  • @break5033

@@Ash-zx5wu All the guys you mentioned were backups. Kirk was behind Rg3(although I remember thr Redskins saying he was number 2 on their entire draftboard or something like that), Wilson was also supposed to be a backup but if I remember he somehow won the job in camp, Brady was an injury replacement for Bledsoe,Fitzpatrick has been a longtime journeyman who has been in and out of the starting line up, Keenum was a backup and an injury replacement for the Vikings and Foles has been successful only for that one season. Obviously he has postseason success but he hasn't shown extended consistency and he was a backup for a large chunk of his career. He even strongly considered retirement at some point.

  • @teefkay2

    @teefkay2

    5 жыл бұрын

@@Bluewatercat Hi, Lesleigh. Only one thing massively wrong with your comment: There was the weight of ... ZERO dollar bills out of their footballs in that game. I know what I'm talking about. I'm a mechanical engineer with a solid background in gas dynamics & gas statics. The truth of this matter is despicable: The lawyers (Wells et al) lied thru their teeth. The engineers that Wells hired (Exponent, Inc.) lied thru their teeth. That is their job. They lie for lawyers in high dollar value product liability cases. Goodell lied thru his teeth. He knew (since Late October, 2015) that Brady & the Pats were innocent. That's when the results of the NFL-wide "monitoring of pressure in all teams' footballs" program started arriving at NFL headquarters in cold weather, showing the EVERY team's footballs "deflate" on exactly the same temperature & water exposure schedule as did the Pats in that AFC CC game. And the news media was utterly (& mostly WILLFULLY) incompetent. They interviewed ONLY current & ex-football players, lawyers, NFL officials and (mostly) other clueless reporters.! In other words, they got their information ONLY from ... utterly clueless amateurs. They adamantly refused to talk to any real experts (like me, or other independent engineers). The proofs of what I've stated require technical details that make most people's eye glaze over. And idiots from other teams who cannot set aside their prejudice (like this "Vinny B" moron) simply refuse to listen. The only reasonable thing to do at that point is to simply laugh at their ignorance. But the strongest proof that what I say is true is simple & despicable: When Roger announced (in Feb. 2016) that he was continuing the case against Brady (who, by this time, he KNEW was innocent!), a reporter asked him, "Hey, Roger, how about sharing the results of the League's pressure monitoring program that you ran last season (2016/17)?" Roger's reply: _"We said we would monitor the pressure in all teams' footballs. We never said that we'd release the data."_ This lying POS has the gall to talk about "Defending The Honor of the NFL's Shield"??? Utterly Despicable.

I came to watch this now that Stidham is the next man up in NE. He had a full yr under Brady which is great, but with a lack of offensive weapons and a leaky O-Line, is he really in a spot to succeed? Maybe Harry takes a step forward, the stable of RBs that can catch will help. He has a very good OC and hopefully some more young talent in the draft. Maybe if they get a TE and one more WR but that’ll help any QB. But hey the Pats aren’t going to be very good in 2020 so why not just give this kid a shot? I know the fans are used to winning but in all reality this kid is going to get a pass all year long so just run him out there and let’s see what we get. Even top QB prospects need to get on the field before you know what you have. Look at all the highly drafted QBs that never panned out. You just never know.

As a Patriots fan, it would not be fair to NOT ride with Stidham just because he is a 4th rounder or was not a "top prospect", which is what everyone drools over. I remember when there was a debate about who should start in the 2001 Super Bowl. A lot of people wanted Bledsoe because Brady was just a "6th rounder". Not saying Stidham is the next Brady, but give him a shot... especially under BB. Game manager is all we need, just like Brady was his 1st year.

It is amazing to me how, compared to even ten years ago, and especially at the qb position, players are expected to produce NOW! I know their is no “ off-season” and most college players are usually progressed past their contemporaries of ten-fifteen years ago, but it is NOT a horrible situation to have to wait on a good player to catch-up. Some, MOST of the quality NFL qbs sucked right off the bat. And other than being way wrong about Haskins, again, excellent video young man!

Looks like he has his head on a swivel. I guess he had to with that offensive line, LOL. Also, seems to throw a good ball and I like his release. Nice review man!

He makes good decisions and doesn't make mistakes - this is the definition of a great backup QB, but not a starter.

Auburn fan: absolutely. The offense was poorly coached and motivated. WR's could not catch to save their lives. And the worst part was that it wasted an awesome defense (not elite, but top 10).

It's hard. I believe you need to look at the 2017 season. That year, he didn't have an emergency alarm constantly going off in the back of his mind. Last season, had he hung in the pocket like he did in 2017, he'd have been injured all year long and probably wouldn't have played half the season. That offensive line we had last year was just awful dude. The 2017 Auburn team is a better analog as far as the talent level goes relative to the team's he will be playing against.....and he's going to the patriots. If there's a team that can make success for a guy like stidham, it's new england. And I know it's not the only reason you draft a guy, but there's not s player who has EVER been drafted that has a better attitude. Last year, he got knocked on his ass every 4th or 5th play it seemed like and guy still gave the effort. I think he'll be a solid, solid backup at least.

2017 season alone could have been the reason the patriots took him. Like you said he has a great attitude an seems like he is willing to learn. Even though he didnt fit the auburn offense, im so glad he picked us. WAR DAMN EAGLE!!!!!!

As an Auburn fan, many of us have wanted to see our system evolve into that of a NFL caliber offense. Stidham was a good QB, but Malzahn has a tendency to go after what’s the best talent he can get and not necessarily what’s the best talent for his system. His game against Georgia in the regular season of 2017 was a good one. War Eagle, Mr. Stidham! I hope you got to learn from Brady and get to continue your growth from arguably the GOAT NFL coach (and no, I’m not a Patriots fan).

He is a new england style qb but when you pair him with no run game no o line and hes a qb who cant get a ball in a tight window but new england receivers have least seperation and 2nd most drops

I like Stidham a lot, watching this film analysis he just looks a lot like Ryan Tannehill. Not a great arm, but enough to get the ball where it needs to go, mobile enough to make some plays with his feet, and smart on his reads.

  • @ahoneyman

A guy that makes good decisions and knows his offense will keep you in a game. Alex Smith made a long career out of not throwing interceptions and getting his best playmakers in the best matchups. Alex Smith forces you to beat him. Alex Smith almost never beats himself. Surround him with good players and you'll be in the playoff hunt. Stidham has an ok arm that with some coaching could make NFL throws. He'll go 18 for 25 with 280ish yards and 1 or 2 td passes. His yearly interception total will be in the low or mid teens. Give him decent defensive help and you can win like that.
