I realize this video was recorded before the post season, but from Wikipedia: In the Wild Card round of the playoffs against the Philadelphia Eagles, Metcalf recorded seven catches for 160 yards and a touchdown in the Seahawks' 17-9 victory. [20] This set the NFL record for most receiving yards by a rookie in a playoff game.[21] That's pretty much what stands out to me. This guy will only get better.

I think you are discounting a number of his skills - the way he uses his hands and size to get open, to box out defenders on the slants, and his run blocking. He is a beast. Also, even though that fumble against the 49'ers sucked, if he hadn't fumbled, we would be talking about the incredible play he made dragging half the defense 15 yards down the field into the end zone.

I love Brett as well, particularly for his excellent film analysis, but I've noticed in the draft he LOVES combine warriors. @@zacharyrogers1071 Not really. The best indicator of whether a guy succeeds in the NFL is how dominant he was as a college player, i.e if you were dominant as a 20 year-old against other 20 year-olds chances are by the time you are 25 you will be dominant against other 25 year olds. This idea that a guy who has the physical tools to work out but never did is somehow going to put it all together almost never actually works. That particularly shows when you compare the super althletes against their supposed examples like Megatron to Metcalf because Calvin was a much, much, much, MUCH better college player than Metcalf, who basically only ran 3 routes at a mediocre level and never well enough to make defenders look silly unlike Calvin who, at the same age, was routinely making college DBs look like children.

Unfortunately it's IMO that most guys fall into the wrong system and never really achieve their best despite being the 1% of the 1% of football players in the world.

Not saying he'll BE Megatron because that's a lot to ask but he can fill a role like that. Big WR that can blow the tops off of defenses as well as being a menace in screens and the middle due to his massive frame. Further development in his cuts will be huge.

You really need to get your facts right brah post routes are one of the hardest routes to get open on, ask any nfl reciver. This is exactly why I love channels like yours because they go off of your own biases instead of straight facts. I was actually gunning for the Bills to take him in the second or third round, especially after watching Brett Kollman's breakdown of DK (btw it would be awesome if you could collab with him on film analysis/football/nfl stuff in a podcast or one of his videos). Do you think Metcalf has room to improve and grow in his route running and hands? Or do you think the Seahawks will just keep utilizing what he's good at?

Like when people talk about this guy and say that his route running isn’t very crisp, I can’t disagree, but as you said the Seattle Seahawks aren’t forcing him to do something that his skill set and physical attributes aren’t good at. I think if him like Calvin Johnson (not in terms of skill level) and how he was used. A deep threat with routes that get this big ass fast as fuck train going and not stopping. Crossing routes, verts, post digs, etc. even though 6’3 isn’t that big, believe it or not at that height and with his speed, IT IS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO MAKE A SHARP TURN. Unlike Lockett with a lower center of gravity. So it makes me happy as a hawks fan that he is being utilized in the best way possible.

He was a steal but I think we can agree the biggest WR steal was UNDRAFTED rookie WR Preston Williams who was on pace for 850-900 yards with the DOLPHINS but got injured half season. For an undrafted rookie those numbers are rare. Look for him to be making noise next season in 2020.

As a Seahawks fan, I like him so far but I really don't trust his hands. When Lockett was hurt, you could really see how much the offense struggled with him as the first option. I think he could be a stud if they develop him properly, but we'll see.

Now we don't have to worry when lockett gets hurt because we have josh gordon now. I love dk but josh is a better replacement for wr1 than dk

@@florianidschok I agree, he actually made some big catches when lock went down, unlike DK. Neither of them can do nearly as much as Ty though so it's still not going to be easy if he goes down again.

I think DK will develop, it's pretty obvious to me that the guy is putting in work so with enough practice he hopefully should break some of his bad habits and improve his catching skills and route running. Plus, I think having Josh Gordon on the team now will be good for Metcalf's development as Gordon is a similar build and type of receiver so he could teach him, similar to how Doug Baldwin kinda mentored Tyler Lockette.

You described every player the seahawks drafted that became average or good players 😂😂 they drafted guys for specific uses and don’t force anyone to do things they are bad at that’s why they won’t ask Jordyn Brooks to be a coverage linebacker first year he’s gonna be guy the bring in on rushing situations or use him as a qb spy on passing downs against qbs like Kyler

Would you say the same things about Calvin Johnson? Would you call him a bad route runner? He skipped the drills in combine D.K. Metcalf did that got him knocked. Idiots asking a tall big reciever to run routes like guys that are 5'10 185. Does anyone understand physics in sports these days?
