I have a Sportbrake with exactly the same issue. Electrics doing all sorts of things. I could start the car from the lock button :(. Great help, and I will have the windscreen removed and replaced in the hope I have the same problem. Thanks again

The water wicks up the wires from the washer pump behind the wheel arch liner, be careful it's not been misdiagnosed.
