2008 Jaguar XK (X150).. water leaking into passenger footwell - Not the infamous Duckbill issue..

Ойын-сауық

A year ago the car started smelling a bit damp - like a wet towel left for a week to moulder.. On inspection the carpet on the passenger side was soaking. Having removed the seat and carpet and running hose tests, it looked like water was coming in from the scuttle (below the windscreen). On the Jag water simply flows straight down the bulkhead to the ground. I had the run-offs re sealed.. but the problem has returned - but only when the car is facing uphill (like on my steep driveway). So if anyone can offer any explanation where the water may be coming in from, I'd be grateful.

Hi Andy i have a similar car to yours with a radio Amp fault, and i need to remove the seat and carpet to get at the cover plate to remove the Amp. did you have any difficulties in removing the seat and carpet did you remove the door jam plate and door pillar cover by bonnet pull? Also did you resolve the leak? Dave

Hi, yes, I resolved the leak/s.. have a look at the follow up videos I did. I’m sure one of them shows how to put everything in/out. It wasn’t difficult but watch the vids. Regards.

A/C condensate issue. My 2007 had the same problem. The only way to correct it was to remove the dash as a unit (the entire thing slides out) and locate the overflow source.

Hi, as in the title.. my issue wasn’t the duckbill, it was old cracked seam sealer.. thanks for commenting anyway. 😊

Looking at the volume of water have you removed the door card to check the inner plastic door liner is fully intact - if not rain may run down the side glass and directly inside the cabin. Had a similar problem on my X type (but the w/screen has also been replaced) and the front w/screen side trim badly refitted) and also similarly on my old BMW E39 rear windows - a known problem.

Hi, Did you consider using a DeHumidifier to absorb the water in the foam/car...

Yes, I have one but the amount of water was way too much- see other vids- and it was much more efficient to remove the carpet module.

Hi mate, I think I have a similar problem. After a hot day last summer driving to the coast with air con on the drain was blocked or something and water came down into the passenger footwell. At one point the fan wouldn't come on then there was smoke coming from it, I don't know whether replacing the blower motor will work?

Hi, you have the infamous duckbill issue. I’ve already had that, and changed out the blower motor. My issue is old factory seam sealer that has cracked and caused leaking. I’ve done a couple of update vids you could see. Cheers.

@@andy-maunder Was it just a matter of replacing the motor? Where did you get one from and how much did you pay? I've seen one looks like the right one for £35 but it says it's for Toyota Corolla. Did you say you just chopped the end off to stop the drain blockage? Cheers

@@-_-O the duckbill is really inaccessible. Effectively under the centre of the windscreen, approached at the back of the engine in the narrow gap between the bulkhead and top of the gearbox. I managed to cut mine. My blower had corroded over time, a new one cost £75.

There's a wheeler-dealer episode with an Aston Martin and they used a smoke machine to find the leaks

That’s a good idea. The issue is really annoying. The carpet is only just about dry (since this vid), and I still haven’t accurately identified the leak using a hose and water. Thanks.

I have an xkr and had water in the passenger footwell from a clogged duck bill drain. It’s where the ac water drains.

Hi.. Its not the Duckbill, I had that issue a few years back and had it done. It's body sealer that has cracked.. first around the bulkhead, this time by the door.. see the next vid kzread.info/dash/bejne/ZYBnya9pj5jPYqg.html

Drill a couple quarter inch holes that’s a low point problem solver

I've got an XF, water was getting in on the passenger side under the scuttle that seals the top of the windscreen. I too the wipers off and the scuttle and ran a bead of silicone along the whole thing then re fitted. Leak fixed, no more footwell puddles. Hope you sort it pal.

It isn’t that. The water falls through the scuttle straight down and out behind the front wheel. There is no tube to worry about and the path is clear.
