A soft Irish accent like Saoirse Ronan or Melanie Murphy makes me weak every time I hear it.

I like how the article breaks down all the different regions of England, but then claims that there is only one Scottish, only one Welsh and only one Northern Irish accent... I live in Wales and the people in the nearest town just four miles away have a very different accent to the people in my village. Incidentally, regarding the similarities between northern English and Scottish accents, it's always worth checking out Simon Roper's channel as a fascinating look on the development of the British languages over the last millennium.

Scottish accent has always been my top fav. Iris and Aussie too.

Depends what part of Scotland. A French guy once told me he was surprised how totally different my (Paisley) accent was from the Fife accent. Neither of those I’d say was particularly sexy, but a Hebridean accent perhaps. For me though, as many below have said, a southern Irish accent does it for me every time.

For me, it’s a close tie between Scottish and Southern (Southeast USA).

For me, it’s less about “sexy” than about how listening to the sound of the words makes you feel. I have known several well spoken people that just grated on my ears. That being said, I have always loved Scottish and Irish accents, and here in the U.S. my Southern drawl along with Cajun twang are my favorites. They’re all related in my opinion anyway, because so many of us are of Scots-Irish descent. Love your videos, Erin!

We've been watching S4 of The Great Pottery Throwdown (we watch a *lot* of UK TV), and Jodie Neale's Rhondda Valley accent is amazing. Now I'm living in Glasgow. I find it quite difficult to understand it, if it's the "authentic" Glaswegian accent. Most people in Glasgow don't speak the authentic one. So, the other day I found a vagabond begging for spare change, speaking in Glaswegian, and I hired him for half an hour to be taught his accent. He was very nice and the 20 pounds I payed to him were truly deserved. You should do the same.

I started watching your channel after seeing you on “wee Scottish lass” and I watched her videos because I wanted to hear a Scottish accent and watching “Brave” over and over wasn’t cutting it lol. I think it sounds great but not sure exactly why. Maybe it’s because it’s not just a simple form of communication but also a bit of a puzzle at the same time. You have to really listen because if a word comes across odd you have to have been listening in order to use comprehension skills to cypher out the meaning! Then your brain is like, ok we’ve got another set of sounds to look for that mean “this”. Maybe that’s it. You’ve found a way to get the opposite sex to actually listen lol AND if they don’t it’s obvious they just couldn’t understand lol, no pressure!

Hey girl, I've been a subscriber to this channel for a long ass time. I agree with every single word you've said in this video (and all your previous ones lol). But i need to know how we got through this entire thing without mentioning the voice of David Tennant. He speaks BEAUTIFULLY in whatever accent he is using for an acting role, and his natural Scottish voice is the most soothing sound in existence. Have you ever listened to any audio book he has narrated?? Top notch, no contest, A++ work. Also, he is a decent human being! 🥰

Appreciate you being a long time subscriber 😂 Personally (although it's probably the same for lots of Scottish people), I don't look at David Tennants voice as being like 😍 wow. Obviously he's a very talented man, but I'm just so used to hearing Scottish accents all day everyday that it's not something unique to me (even though I love them).

and the Southern accent is Scottish because the Celts (Scot, Irish, Welsh, Cornish) migrated to the Southern states. The english anglo-saxons migrated to the eastern states; hence the section New England.

I was in Schuh in Edinburgh looking at trainers. Nothing really fit well but the young lady assisting me was so helpful and accommodating. Her accent, however, made me melt. It was all I could do to prevent myself from walking out with an armload of ill-fitting shoes because of the mere sound of her voice. Yes, I heard others speak while in town but something about her tone, phrasing, etc. was different. Captivating is all I can say.

Very interesting video! I admit I do like the sound of a Scottish accent. Can't say exactly why - just like how the letters are pronounced and come together. Also a west coast Irish accents, like around Galway sound really good too. Enjoyed this!

It really depends upon the region... and the social "class" of the speaker. The middle ground being most acceptable.

I know plenty of people who talk like what you (you personally, not everyone) would class as a 'schemie' but they're not from a scheme (there's also nothing wrong with living in a scheme) and they aren't 'lower class'. Which again, that's nothing to be ashamed of.

And there is no need to be apologetic or embarrassed to be honest about it.

Nr 1. Scottish (yeah, that´s the reason I came here, BUT, your content is the reason I stayed) Nr 2. Australian Shared nr 3. Finnish and Spanish, I know a lot of ppl thinks Finnish sounds hard and doesnt make any sense, but as a person with dyslexia, weirdly enough, I find Finnish to make most sense, and their melody...it´s hypnotizing :) (yeah, I´m married to one lol although he doesnt speak Finnish, I can talk circles around him even tho I´m Swedish ;) ) Scottish has that raw, yet comfy feeling about it, it truly is a beautiful accent, and it really gives you butterflies ;) Bobby had it to a point :) Australian has that laid back vibe to it. Spanish, to me, is pure passion :) and Finnish is all about the melody and spelling...

I was absolutely flabbergasted the times I went to Scotland and people kept complimenting me on my accent 😳🤔 (southeast Michigan U.S.A). I love the Scottish accent and relate to you when you say it makes you feel comfortable and 'at home'.. My mother is from Scotland and I never really notice her accent until someone else comments on it. Her younger sister (my aunt) is in Houston and has a half southern, half Scottish accent. It's awesome!!! I so enjoyed my Grandfather's visits, when he would come to the U.S. and no one could understand his highland accent lmao 🤣.

In general, most Americans love most British accents (including the Scottish accents) because it sounds like singing to them as compared to the bland and boring American accents. To most American men, most female Scottish accents will make their hearts melt. It just sounds like singing.

As a Scottish-American I love the sound of any of the accents that remind me of my ancestral homeland, but I have a special affinity for the more mellow, smooth Dumfries and Galloway, border dialect. Maybe it’s because that’s where my family’s from, but it always makes me feel great pride in my heritage and love for the culture. Alba gu brath!

The Scottish accent is the sexiest, it is warm and wraps around the words. Some English accents are nice and some not so. The Northern Irish is the worst--pounds are ponds, just terrible. While the Southern Irish accent is much softer, you do hear enough of it when one lives there.

I do love to listen to Scottish and Irish accents, especially storytellers. But personally, my favourite is a rich French/ Canadian. It's probably just me, but here in Australia, we often get backpackers coming through, doing hard sells for charity groups. You get to hear a lot of different accents, and for me the Canadian accent with a hint of French is hands down the sexiest.

Ok, I'll admit it, I'm American but I have Siri on my phone set to an Australian accent. But if Scottish was an option I'd switch! I particularly like the Orcadian "Norn" accent. I wouldn't say it's sexy, but very intriguing.

I like pretty much all Scottish accents. Edinburgh, Aberdeenshire, Hebridean…..cant chose. I you twist my arm, perhaps Lothian or there around. For Ireland i think ( probably ) around Ulster for Irish and Dublin and maybe Galway for English. For England possably Oxfordshire…especially really ”received”, posh accent ( Emma Watson ). Also, i adore Scouse and whatever accent ”Joyanima” here on youtube has. In their own languages i also find Duch, Portuguise ( Portugal, especially around Lisbon ) and Icelandic very sexy.

I'm an Englishman but yeah I'd say for me personally the Scottish accent on a woman is perhaps the most sexiest. I was once smitten with a Woman who was from Edinburgh, her accent was one of the biggest reasons I liked her so much. Ever since then if I had to pick a female accent on my ideal Woman it would be a Scottish accent. Probably more Edinburgh than Glasgow but again it's Scottish so I'd still like it.

One thing is for certain, there is no accent, in the entire world, that makes angry rants 1000% more entertaining to listen to, than a Scottish accent.

I would certainly rank Scottish as the FRIENDLIEST accent in the world. If you're outside Scotland (I live in the U.S.) and hear someone with a Scottish accent, you know that person will be fun to talk to and have interesting things to say. I don't exactly think any accent is "sexy" but I do like certain accents including my own lol (you have to admit its nice when people compliment your accent) and I find it interesting how different people can sound. As a Canadian, I love the Scottish accent. Sexiest? I think so to! I also like the West Country one (which is where I was actually born - to a Scottish mom). As for which one in Scotland; I am afraid I don't know them well enough to say. Pretty much any though!

I do actually think the Scottish accent is the sexiest. My ex was from Dunfermline and I could just listen to her talk forever.
