probably a wolf hybrid that someone turned loose because they couldn't live with it. they can't survive on their own without taking chickens

Yea they could there are plenty of deer I live in the middle of nowhere and a lot of people have been reporting seeing wolf's. Not coyotes wolf's. Their environment is similar enough for them to make it in Maine

I'm in Southern Ontario, and have had dealings with Coyotes (pleasant ones) and had a retired alpha sled dog from the Yukon, a wolfdog. He led the team for thirteen years, I had him in retirement. There's always the chance I might be wrong, but what I see in the video is a dog. And he might need a home and some comfort.

Its a Coywolf 100% walks like a Coyote but bigger then a Coyote. & smaller then a wolf. They've been spotted in Parts of Pennsylvania as well. unless its mixed with a domestic dog but thats highly unlikely. Possible but highly unlikely.

That's a coydog. It's not a Coywolf cause it lacks thr long legs and wolf like features like large head. It's got a dog body.

Looks like it has wolf, coyote and some malamute in it- dogs breed with wolves-my friend had one- it was a wonderful pet

I'm guessing the Maine wildlife biologist was not updated (well at least during the time of this video) that DNA studies proved east coyotes are a hybrid mix of Coyote, Wolf and Dog?

That's definitely nit just a coyote normal a dog. It looks like a mixture of both. The tail of a coyote and the body of a large dog as well as its coat. Looks like a blend

Coyotes are never afraid of humans, unlike wolves who are sensibly shy.🤠

To me it doesn't look like a wolf I'm thinking coy-dog based on its build but I'm no expert. I did see what I'm calling wolves in Maine one early Saturday morning 25+ years ago somewhere between Millinocket and Houlton. There were 2 - one all black the other a grey/white mix. They were easily twice the size of a coyote with muscular chests and long, lean hind quarters. They took up most of a travel lane on I 95 - got my attention for sure.

yes. 2 years ago i was driving at dusk and there was a huge one on the side of the road. i have a focus and its back was as high as the door. beautiful animal. just looking for rodents.

That is absolutely part coyote. Coyotes do occasionally hybridize with dogs and wolves. This is a domestic dog crossed with a coyote--called a coydog. It retains all the behavioral characteristics of its coyote parent and cannot be tamed.

That's definitely a coywolf. We have them everywhere in Toronto. They are about the size of a small German Shepard, but don't bother humans at all

Do you notice how he was very careful not to use the words impossible. Use the words unlikely uncommon etc. I don't know what I saw while I was mountain biking but what I do know is I spend a great deal of time in the woods I've never seen anything similar I've seen some huge huge tracks and I know what a coyote looks like. What I saw was not a coyote unless it was not a typical color and potentially a world record setting size coyote

It’s just a western coyote with a dark colored coat, it’s rare but a coyote can have a dark coat like gray or black.

I live out west and that doesn’t look like any coyote I’ve ever seen out here. Definitely has some wolf ancestry,it just doesn’t look like a typical coyote to me

No. *Canine expert here* It has too much extra feathering in its fur near the ears and tail. Also, the facial markings are much more representative of a domestic dog like an Alsatian, husky, or malamute. It probably IS a coydog or mixed with coyote to some capacity, but based off coyote standards, it looks nothing like a pure or even majority one. Average coyote standards are 25-45lbs. That guy looks like he's at least a good 60-70lbs if not more. He'd have to be mixed with something.

0:55 Coywolf or coydog. It's definitely not a wolf. But I don't think that's 100 percent - or even mostly - coyote, either. It doesn't look heavily built enough to be a wolf. Head's too small, too.

You need to come to Renovo Pa. They are seen in packs within five miles of town and North Bend Pa. Two visit our back yard almost every evening. The ones that are here are Coydogs.

There were some huskies that got loose around me and were trying to get someone’s chickens. Someone caught them on their ring and everyone was swearing they were wolves or coyotes. I knew right away they were huskies, which come in many different colors. Some look very wolf like.

I saw some thing a couple years back the size of a German Shepherd in the woods in Orland. The coat was mostly dark in color with some amber colored fur on the underbelly and towards the rear granted I was quite a ways away but the eyes appeared to be from the quick glimpse I got quite Amber in color as well. Way too big to be a coyote. Way too big

Funny, he said it's very unlikely to be a coydog. News flash breeding is breeding in the k9 world and it happens more than the states say it does. The state of Michigan said there are no wolves in the lower peninsula of Michigan, yet in January a coyote hunter killed what he thought was a huge coyote and after testing it, it came back it was a 80lb gray wolf. Coyotes all have DNA of wolves and other k9 bloodlines. At least in the east, witch is why the eastern Coyotes can and often do reach weights of 50lbs but most big Coyotes are below 50lbs but above 40.

The large bushy tail could be either coyote or wolf, but it most likely isn't a wolf at all. The front legs of a wolf go straight up to their neck. They have almost no front chest area vs. a dog which has a large front chest and the legs go in beneath the front chest. Coyotes tend to be more brown while Western wolves tend to be grey, white or black.

what many people.dont know is that Dogs share a lot of the DNA that makes up Coyotes. So if dogs have COYOTE DNA then it wpuldt not be surprising that a Coyote and dog would "hang around" and or breed with a coyote. I am surpriaed that the gentleman from the DNR nade that statement. Regarding it rare or more rhan likley not see a cotyote breed with a dog. If you take a look ar the incident where the lost gog called."Ghost" he was left in the nussdle of no where in the Arizona dessert and was then adopted by a group of coyotes. This dog lived and hunted ffos worh this pac until recently qhen it was captured by the DNR or wildelife reserve deparment and was reunites by its owners.

Definitely not a coyote, It has dog-like more so features. See the large frame and healthy it looks just like a dog. They do have wild dogs that live on their own independently and do search for food. I'm sure if anyone owned an animal like this they would look at it well and see it's quite a dog but just because it's running free doesn't mean it has to be a coyote because he is hungry and needs to eat. It could also apply to loose free hungry dogs that resemble a coyote. Coyotes are slender and have skinny legs and a shorter tail.

It's too fat to be a coyote or wolf. That's somebody's dog that they let roam and it probably gets fed at home as well as supplementing its diet by foraging. It needs to be caught in a humane way and checked out.

It's got such a dog face coloring but coyote body structure and future type tail. I couldn't do that job I'd waste so much time and taxpayer money by trapping, DNA testing and releasing outside of towns. I love them but further from scavenger diets and closer to rodent, bird, reptile and roadkill diets.
