If they are hybrids how would that hold the key to the survival of a species. By definition hybrids are not the same species anymore.

Leave them pups alone! Just either keep your cats in...or accept that natural predation may get Fluffy. ☠️ RIP Fluffy.

Cats are an invasive species! It's sad, but it's true. If you don't want to watch it and want to release it to the wild, don't be suprised when the rules of the wild apply

@@peterbenoni1470 Yup. And I've had multiple cats. A few went permanently missing, pretty sure it was the coyote pack. (City coyotes don't mess with cats. They have rats and garbage)

@@grmpEqweer that's why I keep six indoor cats! They're the more slow and steady types, they don't like to run around much otherwise I might feel bad keeping them inside. If you don't want to lose your pets, keep them on a leash or inside!

Except they aren't guaranteed to stay surviving. One of the potential benefits of this study is being able to afford more protection to these mixed wolves and coyotes, that way they can help their struggling red wolf relatives. We're far beyond the point where leaving them alone helps. By now, it hurts

The Florida Panther got a boost in widening the genetic pool witj Cougars from Texas. These wolves may be the key to creating a diverse enough group, where they can start a breeding program. Amazing they're still even around this part of the state.

And what’s also hopeful about Florida Panthers is the Florida wildlife corridor. Wildlife corridors across former red wolf and Florida Panther habitat will be the key to their recovery, along with genetic diversity. I hope that the Galveston packs with adequate protections and corridor access could be a new place for cross fostering captive born red wolf puppies; where the puppies are snuck into wild dens, and later adopted by Mother Wolf. It is a well documented process that has been done to the North Carolina red wolves, and the Mexican gray wolves that are expanding in Arizona and New Mexico. I recently signed up, and have been accepted to volunteer at one of the places helping the Mexican wolves with the ambassadors named Thor and Durango. 🐺🐺
