Ambers reaction here is actually very realistic. She couldnt speak, she couldnt move, she's just shaking and the way her voice cracks when she calls out for Mark you could tell she's not just scared, SHE'S FUCKING TERRIFIED. You can also see in her eyes that her life flashes before her. They actually made Anissa way more scarier than in the comics.

Also, Steven Yeun is bodying it like always, but Zazie Beetz needs awards for this ep. What a performance. And god, how nice it is to have Amber written so well this season. Neither of them is right, neither of them is wrong, both of them are completely understandable and justified. The break up absolutely had to happen, but I’m so glad they gave it its own space and didn’t have the moment living in Eve’s shadow.

It’s such an astronomical improvement over season 1 Amber. It’s sad to see them break up, not because they fell out of love, but because they love each other so much, but their circumstances are too dangerous for them to be together. It’s touched on in so many superhero stories that it’s a trope at this point, but this is one of the few times I actually felt the risk and hopelessness of it. They portrayed it so well.

@@KCohere33 I’m the high man on season 1 Amber most of the time. I think they wrote her pretty badly in that she doesn’t come off very sympathetic at all even though she’s completely right to find the dishonesty (secret identity or not) unacceptable. The way they wrote her reaction - very clearly coded as someone who had no idea - after the fight with Doug in S1 ep 6 only to immediately reveal that she HAD known the whole time…it was handled very, very poorly, and ruined what should have been an excellent and reasonable point from her. That’s poor writing, there’s no way around it, and even the show runners have agreed. I’m just glad the writing team knocked it out of the park in season 2, making her as sane and reasonable and supportive as she always was, but now making it translate more directly to the audience. It’s the best part of the show in season 2, where it was arguably the worst part of the show in season 1. That’s good. The relationship deserves to shine, as does Amber.

@@jasonmarbach7800 What did they say exactly that they agreed with? All I heard was that they didn’t expect Amber to be so hated. And as for being sympathetic, I sympathized with her completely. It was the constant lying that she had a problem with, not being a superhero. I thought her points as a seventeen year old in her presumably first serious relationship were valid then and are still valid now. I always thought the fans criticizing her were misunderstanding her. That said, I’m glad that she comes off more likable this season for the fans who did have a problem with her.

As a comic reader, my mouth was gaping for the entire last 10 minutes. Seeing these blasphemously iconic moments and events animated just made me feel so happy, i was SO fucking giddy

From the looks of everything that went down in this episode I think the writers are really gonna follow every aspect of Anissa’s arc including the YOU KNOW WHAT.

The details on this show are just... brilliant. When Anissa flew through that water kaiju, she got covered in blood, but she was travelling so fast that when she abruptly stops, all the blood continues moving forward due to inertia and gets washed off her instantly. Also it looked so cool.

Having read the comics and knowing Anissa was coming, I was curious how her storyline would translate to the show. I still am, but for now, they've done a great job. She's just as crazy as I remember. And thank god she broke up Mark and Amber. Also, the Comic con scene was perfect.

The cliffhangers are so devious, I swear if they end the next/final episode the way I’m afraid they will it’s gonna be 1 year+ of waiting for one of the best fights in the series

That Anissa character sure looks like a good person despite being the enemy. I'm sure she will be completely honorable and respectful despite the ideological difference with Mark.

Filip Schaff's character model in this was based on one of the two artists of the comic, Ryan Ottley. Schaff looks like Corey Walker in the comic so this is very fitting. Also he was voiced by Tim Robinson from I Think You Should Leave

This episode actually got me tears up a bit the scene with Donald and rick

i was gonna wait till I got home later to watch this in my room on my tv, but I also the thumbnail and ur faces so then I just gave in and watched It on my phone, WHAT A FUCKING EPISODE! Story wise, fight scenes, the pure entertainment/surprise factor, this ep had It all, when amber and mark got there date crashed I nearly fainted from how hype I was 😭

Oh no Anissa, I have read the comics and now am nervous. I won’t say why because even though this is based on the comics it’s not the exact same universe as the comics plus I won’t spoil it.

Man I can't wait to see how non comic readers react to THAT SCENE!

man first rexsplode being one of my favs this season and now allen becoming one of my tops as well. they make everyone so likable even cecil with donald.

I loved how the episode seemed all sullen and soft, up to the moment Anissa showed up with her hand right up to Amber's neck... I was high af and felt the horror in the moment, then the rest of the episode was just chef's kiss.

Honestly I think amber and marks breakup was a lot better here than in the comics
