THANK YOU!! this case reminds me of Gypsy rose and her mother. Didi took away gypsy’s life, and so did these poor boys parents. they didn’t know how to live, they were broken and torn apart, yet these people still make them look like monsters and etc. i don’t think so, this is gross. they should be freed so they can live a real life away from fear.

@@kaylinwhite6584 so you'd rather these boys continue to be sexually and emotionally abused and hold that trauma while their parents continue living lavishly and able to hide this fact for the rest of their lives? When you grow up in Beverly Hills with rich and abusive parents with nobody to tell because they're rich and thought to perfect, it only takes so long for a child to break. Those brothers never got a chance to live like normal kids, so in a way, their own lives were taken the moment their father ever laid his hands on them. If abuse is not a justification for murder, then self-defense isn't either. yes, murder is murder, but abuse is abuse, and abuse can wreck a life just as much if not more than murder can.

I’m not saying the sexual abuse is a lie. But after researching this case. It was definitely first degree murder. Now does that mean the sexual abuse didn’t play a role if it is true? No! It can create animosity and killing your parents won’t be that hard. However, I’m starting to seriously doubt their sexual abuse story. Again I’m not saying they weren’t abused. But they had very spoiled lived and they’re parents although not perfect seemed to want the best for them. I’m just going by the conclusions I came to after research the case.

People assume things because it looks a certain way but if their story is consistent with the reality of who their parents were from their friends’ perspective and people that knew them…also and the raw emotion behind the stories, there’s definitely a lot to dig into rather than just assume. A normal person would not just kill their parents for money, no, but they aren’t normal because they had sick and abusive parents. A “normal person” with that much trauma and abuse, I would venture to say would probably have the capacity to do something outlandish like this. It’s a cry for help and a symptom of sick kids as a result of abusive parenting. This does not justify the actions of these men, but it brings more clarity and I think would be grounds for more grace.

Now if the abuse was true I could understand them killing their father. Yea some allegations were made against her but ultimately it was the father. The mother was shot at and was alive at that point then they had to actually Reload and continue shooting her like come on. Either way you slice it it’s murder. @@IamGaby They didn't shoot their parents in the knees. That's a myth. Kitty had no wounds to her knees, while Jose had been shot just once above the knee, not in the kneecap. And by the way, several family members testified that Kitty was often emotionally cruel to her sons, especially Lyle, and that she would sometimes fly into unpredictable rages. She didn't like being a mother and even told several people that she wished her sons had never been born. She didn't protect them. There was plenty of testimony about her treatment of her children, so I'm getting really annoyed with "the mother never abused them" or "the mother was innocent" comments. The testimony of this can easily be found by watching the footage from the first trial (the entirety of it is on Court TV's website, and some of it is here on youtube). A forensic expert confirmed after studying the crime scene that it was an unplanned killing (for pre-meditated, that would mean that it was planned BEFORE the crime). It was overkill, and the brothers used very loud weapons, which doesn't make sense if they wanted to get away with it. The crime scene was messy and disorganized.

They bought weapons before the killing, stating “for protection” but when the crime scene was investigated they found that their dad was shot from behind killing him instantly so that while they were scared for their life defense goes out the window. All arguments aside it did not justify the murder, bottom line. You keep using emotions and the fact of the matter is it was completely overkill. This aspect needs to be shown more so people understand there's more victims to sexual assault than just the kids molested. Imo a molester should get at least life imprisonment for all the lives he ruins. can you imagine the guilt of knowing that you did something to your own brother because you didn't understand what was happening to you and you thought you were 'playing' then growing up to realize exactly what you did and how it feels and that because of you they feel the same exact way that you do... And looking at the person that did it to you and feeling like them even though you didn't understand what you were doing at the time... It breaks my heart.

As for the Burglary, it was neither because they were trying to practice being criminals, nor boredom, as the 2 ladies suggest! It was likely the self-destructive behavior of severely abused children with a thought process that, perhaps atleast once, conceived escape from the horrible abuse even if it meant going to prison. OR, trying to steal a large sum of money 💰 so they could finally run away from the father's controlling clutches. I really have no doubt that their extreme behavior, to say the least, was the direct result of long-term abuse since there was zero evidence presented to suggest that they hated their parents OR were plain evil 😈 . It's obvious, beyond any doubt, that their actions all along were self-destructive, kinda Iike a Death Wish, not criminally driven. The link between juvenile offenders & child abuse is pretty well established. I truly believe that the behavior in all such cases is driven by the desire to self-destruct to escape &/or due to self-loathe (for not doing anything, for not being strong or brave enough, to end their victimization), not criminal intent. I think I make a solid case to get them out. There is enough fact-based data out there, to prove with very high certainty, that there is a very high correlation between self-destructive behavior in teens who suffered extreme long-term abuse. In Lyle & Erik's case, the abuse was off-the-charts BRUTAL so the end result was unprecedented too!

Almost every single day of your life getting sexually and emotionally abused by the people who are supposed to “love you the most” and they threaten to kill you and your sibling If y’all ever tell anyone or try to escape. We all know the cops wouldn’t have done anything to prevent the abuse from stopping. No one could save them Even when other people knew about it, they never did anything, the only ones who could save the brothers was themselves. After all those years of abuse and torture you lose it and you can’t take it no more, you want to be free of them, doing what ever it takes. If killing them is the only way to escape then yes I stand by it, it was self defense. The things they’re parents did to them is DISGUSTING and inhuman. They already spent like 25 years in jail, it’s time to let them go and get justice for them.

100% agree. The mother knew about the father's abuse of the boys and did nothing. The father also wouldn't allow the older boy live in the dorms at university. Told him he had to keep living at home. Likely so he could continue the control and abuse. There was no escape for these boys. Abuse victims cannot think straight or logically, to get out of the situation any other way. Father was a sick man and deserved what he got. So did the mother.

The mother was shot at and was alive at that point then they had to actually Reload and continue shooting her like come on. Either way you slice it it’s murder. Why shoot both parents in the knee to make it look like a mafia hit? They allowed the cops to believe it was the mafia. Why collect the shell casings after is they were so traumatized and defending themselves? This indicates a cover up. Otherwise they would have just straight up told the police we had to do it immediately upon arriving on scene.

The only options for sentencing was the death penalty or life without parole. There were no other options the jury could consider once the verdict was first degree murder. The most the abuse evidence was able to do was give them lwop instead of lethal injection. The spending spree does not necessarily indicate a lack of remorse. People spend money for lots of reasons, especially people who live in Beverly Hills and are used to spending tons of money regularly. Their own mother was known to shop when she was depressed.

Those who gave the brothers prison proved that rape and abused are ok to do. That's why it's still happening. I feel sorry for the judge and prosecutor who has to carry the burden all his life and is resposible to other children who are still being raped and abused by their sick parents. Such judges and prosecutors and policemen and politicians will get richly hot in hell and here on earth too for sure.

I strongly agree that this case should be reopened. Sounds like their parents just became parents so that they have their children whom they can abuse and control. I can't imagine all the despicable things they went through in the hands of their father. It's shocking and heartbreaking when you found out that your own mother knows everything from the start and didn't do anything about it. The betrayal is unforgivable. I think killing them was the only thing they thought that could help them escape from their abusers. Therefore It shouldve been a self defense not a murder.

What they went through was undeniably the cause of their crimes, but that doesn't change the fact that they committed crimes. Instead of life in prison I'd say lower the sentence, but they should still go to prison for what they did. So many people were abused by their parents, but not everyone kills their parents or chooses to lead a life of crime.
