No offense but I hate when people blame public education for an individual's stupidity. There are a multitude of factors determining one's intelligence. Public schools aren't there to teach kids how to think, that's mostly up to the parents. Teachers don't have the time to teach each student in their classes the joys of learning and accruing knowledge, and they shouldn't be expected to.

People literally live with their grandparents in this country who are also not well taken care of and may still need to work to make ends meet and are expected to somehow turn around and accept teachers who literally copy lesson plans from online and feed it to kids in highschool as if there is any actual learning going on beyond busy work. If you want to learn about impactful literature or avoid just barely scratching the surface of what subjects like mathematics have to offer you have to go outside of what is offered at most low-income neighborhood schools in America.

@@fromulus It makes me boil when people say that there shouldn’t be a responsibility for not even teachers but society to help promote STEM and strong academics to even just make us, as a nation, more competitive with other nations that do heavily invest in making sure kids have the opportunity to explore subjects more meaningfully within their own approach and develop into a better, smarter workforce that can truly enjoy the exploration for knowledge, skills, and learning. We actively avoid making good mathematicians and scientists in this country, and not even that we avoid trying to give better critical thinking skills to individuals going to trade school with how blunted the tools we provide teachers and our institutions to try and do their best with these children, everyone can benefit from a more robust and less rigid system that allows for free thought and autonomy of students by providing the resources necessary but we decided that a broken education system was the better option, one not able to provide educational classrooms for students and not equipped to deal with anyone who seeks a path that is even slightly different from the one set up to try and accommodate as many “individuals” as possible while shunning them for that same aspect of individuality that should be incorporated into learning as if we weren’t some authorities regime trying to mass produce “college-ready” learners.

Strange thing to base your argument on, but in the end, it's still not the teachers responsibility to raise those particular kids, it's to teach the required curriculum, and that's not their decision either. I'm totally aware that they don't go incredibly in-depth with mathematics and literature, and there are good reasons for it. I grew up in a low-income family too.

I love how these goons immediately freakout when someone speaks another language, even if that person is capable of speaking their language too. Spanish is correct in this statement. Central America is still part of the North American continent and Columbus was the first European. I would say Vikings didn’t really teach natives the language, they just came and received goods/ traded with them
