For example, my father used to beat the hell out of my Mom all while he arrested others for the exact same thing. He would also frequently drive after drinking. “you’re being detained because you are acting strange” “thats not legal???” “yes it is legal” wtf is going on 😭
As a Norwegian watching so many of these kinds of videos of American cops, I really don't get why voters are not holding cops accountable. Laws should be in place to protect citizens against that kind of harassment and abuse of power. You got to big grownups which you know are in a far more powerful position that a regular citizen who are intimidating a minor over the most trivial issue imaginable. This is gives too much police state vibes. Honestly it is what made me leave the US 20 years ago. When I was a teenager the US was a dream country to me. I went over to study with intention of staying. I was not prepared for how unfree America felt. It isn't that stuff happened to me directly but I could see how cops behaved on the street. I could pick up on all sorts of stories from friends. It was just so far away from how police would behave in Norway. I am just saying this to hopefully make Americans think that they can demand better. Don't think that this is just how cops have to be. No, they don't have to be like that. Cops are not like that everywhere in the world. There is something really off about how people in law enforcement, security, border guards work in the US. Sure you can meet plenty of nice people, but the percentage of people who abuse their power and intimidate normal citizens for no good reason is just too high.

Living it everyday, man. The US is a *profoundly* unfree country. The only reason anyone ever thought otherwise comes down to two things: 1.Branding via MASSIVELY funded propaganda campaigns distributed as both an "export product" & domestically 2. Before the internet & esp before we all carried little "hand computers" everywhere, there was no way to show - with evidence- that the US is very much a borderline police State. Every single day living here is like a claustrophobic nightmare where you know that one illness can ruin your life. You could easily lose everything you have - which comes with the added dread of knowing that here, the poorer you are, the more vulnerable you are to having your life snuffed out by one of these fuckers - & they can do it quick, all at once with a bullet OR they can stretch it out over decades with some bullshit charge that you are powerless to fight bc you have no $$$ & you'll meet your Public Defender 5 mins before your trial starts. Fun story. About two years ago I drove past a church angry how my life turned to crap even though I believed in God and doing the right thing, well I flipped a bird at the church not the pastor standing outside. The cops came to my house for flipping a bird at the pastor and asked was that a crime. He said no but do it again and you'll pay the consequences. I slammed the door on him. The ego of these assholes are incredible. You see the pastor was friends with the sheriff. I live in a small town in Georgia. No need to say more. Qualified immunity and pensions need to end and you'll see change.
To know that these are the people protecting me makes me feel exponentially more scared
“Stop cursing? Fuck you.” I love that so much
I wonder how this cop would do in my profession? I'm a teacher and being disrespected happens. No matter how much my students like me, they're kids and teens. I've been cussed at and flipped off. I've always kept my composure no matter what. Imagine if I cussed at those kids or forcibly dragged them to the principal's office? Hell no! I'd be fired. I have a lot of patience, and realize kids and teens are KIDS AND TEENS and I'm a full on adult. There's other professions too where people are flipped off, cursed, and hit. Retail is one big example (a field I used to work in as well). Shit is wack.

Cops are taught to view every situation as a potential mortal threat and that the only way to keep yourself as an officer of the law safe is to project absolute control over any interaction. @@yoshikagekira1719 No they would not. If he walks in the Restaurant and flips of the cook and tells the waiter to "shut up and fuck you" (bring my food). He wouldn't get anything to eat in the first place. If you talk like that to a teacher or restaurant staff, you should expect some consequence. If you act like that in a classroom in germany, you gonna get expelled, from the classroom and possibly from the school. Nobody would get fired, heck we would actually cheer the staff/teacher on, while removing him from the restaurant/school ( if there was a video). The notion that police officers should be "ok" with people insulting them, while driving down a road is stupid. You like it cause you life in a country where some police officers can end your life without fearing for any consequence, it's a breath of fresh air (for you) to see a civilian acting like a douchebag and walking away scot free. It doesn't make it right tho. In my country (germany) that guy will get a huge fine or 1 year on probation for this, I vouch for that. @@cloudofthought "Insult" is listed as a punishable crime in germany. You call a cop in germany "Bullenschwein" he can easily charge you with something. Doesn't mean you get punished everytime but I'm pretty certain his behaviour shown in the video wouldn't fly with a german judge. If you make the insult publicly or distribute an insult you can get even up to 2 years in prison. ( The public/distributing part with 2 years prison is rather new, they did that to be able to prosecute the freaks that attack victims of hate crimes and such via internet etc). This guy would most likely pay a fine. There are catalogs of insults/resulting fines for past verdicts. And this can get in the thousands of euros (rare but happens).

Yeah, it's clearly a contempt of cop detention. From Wiki: ""Contempt of cop" is law enforcement jargon in the United States for behavior by people toward law enforcement officers that the officers perceive as disrespectful or insufficiently deferential to their authority.[1][2][3][4] It is a play on the phrase contempt of court, and is not an actual offense. The phrase is associated with unlawful arbitrary arrest and detention of individuals, often for expressing or exercising rights guaranteed to them by the United States Constitution. Contempt of cop is often discussed in connection to police misconduct such as use of excessive force or even police brutality[5] as a reaction to perceived disrespectful behavior[6] rather than for any legitimate law enforcement purpose.[7] Arrests for contempt of cop may stem from a type of "occupational arrogance" when a police officer thinks his or her authority cannot or should not be challenged or questioned.[8] From such officers' perspective, contempt of cop may involve perceived or actual challenges to their authority, including a lack of deference (such as disobeying instructions,[9] or expressing interest in filing a complaint against the officer).[7] Fleeing from the police is sometimes considered a variant of contempt of cop.[10] Contempt of cop situations may be exacerbated if other officers witness the allegedly contemptuous behavior.[11] Charges such as disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and assaulting an officer may be cited as official reasons in a contempt of cop arrest.[7] Obstruction of justice or failure to obey a police order is also cited in arrests in some jurisdictions, particularly as a stand-alone charge without any other charges brought.[12][13]" In the last part of that quoted section, these things are ofc, whatever a cop says they are. Resisting arrest, in particular, is often used as a stand-alone charge, which makes a lot of sense, right? Cop: I'm arresting you for resisting arrest. Person who probably isn't a class traitor: You're arresting me for resisting arrest but not for something that would mean that to resist that particular arrest would be resisting arrest? Cop logic, see? :P
This reminds me of the time a cop threatened me with detainment for throwing up the victory symbol with my hands (✌) and then asked me if it was a gang symbol. I was.... 11 years old.

The "shut the fuck up" as the kid walked away actually was the cherry on top
When I got stopped at the beach in vancouver by VPD for having beers I wasted enough of their time that they started trying to guilt me by saying things like “we just got a call about an old lady getting beat up with a baseball bat a couple blocks away but you’re too busy dealing with you kids” and literally everyone was like “then why don’t you help them? Wtf”
"What's gonna be seized while you're walking?" "My body, my person, IDIOT" Gigachad
I don't care what political affiliation this kid has, he should take those cops to court and make an example of them.
It’s the “how long have you been a cop” for me
Cops shouldn't be able to turn off their body cams, it should be something that happens through a device at the police station after their shift is over before they go home.
Funnily enough, there was a case recently in MI where a woman got pulled over for traffic violation, after recieving the ticket, as the officer pulled away she flipped them off. The officer then pulled her over again because his feelings were hurt. It got all the way up to the US 6th district court of appeals, where they held in favor of the driver. Saying flipping a cop off is protected speech. The case was appealed to supreme court, and they denied the appeal (they didn't take the case up) meaning the Us Court Of Appeals ruling stands. Granted this only counts in the states that 6th district rules over. But sets a good precedent and predictor that, no in fact, flipping a cop off isn't a crime. Cruise-Gulyas v. Love the extra bit how they try and pin the kid for "walking on the road" when there is no sidewalk to even walk on, nor was he even in the road. Like yeah man, our cities are designed terribly, I can't tell you how many times sidewalks just end at random points when walking/biking around.
The kid had the right idea by saying “am I free to go” but he NEEDED to start with “am I being detained”. If they say you are NOT being detained then they have no legal ability to keep you anymore. “If I’m not being detained I’m free to go”
Easy response: "Why you flip me off?"... "Why you curse at me?" "Maybe take a look at what you're doing. I'm not breaking a law and you're harassing me."
The important thing is how they are trying to spin the narrative, to make him guilty. How, they changed the story that he was signaling them. And was causing a public disturbance, that no one alerted or called-in.
The kid slowly walking away and the cop trying to get to him initially with no rush is so hilarious to me. Looks straight out of a shitty videogame
