There’s a psychological reason why most people become cops, it’s about ego & control, not about helping others which is what it’s supposed to be about. They’re also usually giant hypocrites as well. For example, my father used to beat the hell out of my Mom all while he arrested others for the exact same thing. He would also frequently drive after drinking. They believe themselves to be better than & above others. As a Norwegian watching so many of these kinds of videos of American cops, I really don't get why voters are not holding cops accountable. Laws should be in place to protect citizens against that kind of harassment and abuse of power. You got to big grownups which you know are in a far more powerful position that a regular citizen who are intimidating a minor over the most trivial issue imaginable. This is gives too much police state vibes. Honestly it is what made me leave the US 20 years ago. When I was a teenager the US was a dream country to me. I went over to study with intention of staying. I was not prepared for how unfree America felt. It isn't that stuff happened to me directly but I could see how cops behaved on the street. I could pick up on all sorts of stories from friends. It was just so far away from how police would behave in Norway. I am just saying this to hopefully make Americans think that they can demand better. Don't think that this is just how cops have to be. No, they don't have to be like that. Cops are not like that everywhere in the world. There is something really off about how people in law enforcement, security, border guards work in the US. Sure you can meet plenty of nice people, but the percentage of people who abuse their power and intimidate normal citizens for no good reason is just too high.

The only reason anyone ever thought otherwise comes down to two things: 1.Branding via MASSIVELY funded propaganda campaigns distributed as both an "export product" & domestically 2. Before the internet & esp before we all carried little "hand computers" everywhere, there was no way to show - with evidence- that the US is very much a borderline police State. Every single day living here is like a claustrophobic nightmare where you know that one illness can ruin your life. You could easily lose everything you have - which comes with the added dread of knowing that here, the poorer you are, the more vulnerable you are to having your life snuffed out by one of these fuckers - & they can do it quick, all at once with a bullet OR they can stretch it out over decades with some bullshit charge that you are powerless to fight bc you have no $$$ & you'll meet your Public Defender 5 mins before your trial starts. Yeah, it's clearly a contempt of cop detention. From Wiki: ""Contempt of cop" is law enforcement jargon in the United States for behavior by people toward law enforcement officers that the officers perceive as disrespectful or insufficiently deferential to their authority.[1][2][3][4] It is a play on the phrase contempt of court, and is not an actual offense. The phrase is associated with unlawful arbitrary arrest and detention of individuals, often for expressing or exercising rights guaranteed to them by the United States Constitution. Contempt of cop is often discussed in connection to police misconduct such as use of excessive force or even police brutality[5] as a reaction to perceived disrespectful behavior[6] rather than for any legitimate law enforcement purpose.[7] Arrests for contempt of cop may stem from a type of "occupational arrogance" when a police officer thinks his or her authority cannot or should not be challenged or questioned.[8] From such officers' perspective, contempt of cop may involve perceived or actual challenges to their authority, including a lack of deference (such as disobeying instructions,[9] or expressing interest in filing a complaint against the officer).[7] Fleeing from the police is sometimes considered a variant of contempt of cop.[10] Contempt of cop situations may be exacerbated if other officers witness the allegedly contemptuous behavior.[11] Charges such as disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and assaulting an officer may be cited as official reasons in a contempt of cop arrest.[7] Obstruction of justice or failure to obey a police order is also cited in arrests in some jurisdictions, particularly as a stand-alone charge without any other charges brought.[12][13]" In the last part of that quoted section, these things are ofc, whatever a cop says they are. Resisting arrest, in particular, is often used as a stand-alone charge, which makes a lot of sense, right? Cop: I'm arresting you for resisting arrest. Person who probably isn't a class traitor: You're arresting me for resisting arrest but not for something that would mean that to resist that particular arrest would be resisting arrest? Cop logic, see? :P

Funnily enough, there was a case recently in MI where a woman got pulled over for traffic violation, after recieving the ticket, as the officer pulled away she flipped them off. The officer then pulled her over again because his feelings were hurt. It got all the way up to the US 6th district court of appeals, where they held in favor of the driver. Saying flipping a cop off is protected speech. The case was appealed to supreme court, and they denied the appeal (they didn't take the case up) meaning the Us Court Of Appeals ruling stands. Granted this only counts in the states that 6th district rules over. But sets a good precedent and predictor that, no in fact, flipping a cop off isn't a crime. Cruise-Gulyas v. That delay in recording has gotten A LOT of cos in trouble. Well, caught, not so much in trouble. There was another good video online of a cop stopping a teen who was leaving school for a doctors appointment, and the cop threatened him with his gun and told him he could not leave. He then pushed the record button, forgot about the delay, and when the kid tries to say later about the threat the cop pretends it never happened, thinking it was not recorded.

Major props to this kid! I was detained overnight in a holding cell and issued a $250 fine for nearly the exact same thing years ago. I wish I’d fought it, but I was a lot less aware of my rights in those days. There are way too many people in uniform who should have no business enforcing the law. Granted, I also had my beer muscles fully equipped, but I wouldn’t have told those cops to f@ck off if they didn’t have it coming 😂 the only thing I was guilty of was having a good time!
