whenever conservatives say "they ended the slave trade" as if its a positive makes me wonder about things. Primarily, if someone walks up to them and starts beating the shit out of them, and then stops after a minute or two, are they going to thank the person who was just beating them for stopping? Or are they going to be justifiably pissed that they did at all? Because if I saw that happen to someone, I would assume that they're in a codependent abusive relationship and need to get the hell out of it asap. Slavery has existed for millennia. Africans enslaved other Africas. Europeans were enslaved at different periods. The British Empire abolished slavery at a time when it was becoming more and more lucrative as a business and used the Royal navy to enforce it. You may not like the fact but there it is.

@@garethmorgan3665 they, with Portugal and Netherlands were the top 3 countries doing slavery trade, and you can't compare slavery before 1500 vs after it, the scale is way different, also they were treated differently, they could get free too, you can search about slavery in the Roman empire for example, also search amounts of slaves being traded, and Africans slaved others bc Europeans used them and deshumanized Africans people, starting to call them black or worse, saying them don't have a culture, etc...

Unapologetic Brit here. Here's a few points I would add. 1) It's incredibly weird to see people in the USA venerate monarchy. Pretty sure the USA was created by fighting against the UK. 2) This does basically boil down to white supremacy. To people like these, white supremacy is more important than anything else. 3) I cannot understand how or why these talking heads see the Queen's death as a sign that Christianity is under threat in the west, in their words. Just in case anybody isn't clear on this, the monarch in the UK is the head of the church. There's a reason why the Church of England is so called. Whatever else may change people's opinions of the status of Christianity in modern society, the monarchy will not have any influence over that. 4) The idea of Judeo-Christian ideals is just a means of inserting Jewish people into the Christian hegemony that would have destroyed them not that long ago. The more I see of this, the more disgusting I find people like Kirk (no relation), Carlson or Shapiro, if such a thing was even possible.

Didn't " help " they were the only civilization in human history to condemn slavery and then actively seek to convince the rest of the world to agree with them. Africans and Arabs had to be persuaded at the point of a gun.....not one victim of the Atlantic slave trade was abducted and enslaved by white people. They were paid for fair and square under African law sold eagerly by the same civilizations that had been successfully using Africa and Europe as handy free range human cattle pens for at least a thousand years prior, and made themselves fabulously wealthy purely because of slavery..... The "help" you want to casually denigrate was the first time a dominant civilization in the entirety of human history had ever even considered the thought that slavery was wrong and an affront to God then proceeded to spend nearly half their whole empires wealth immediately and then five generations of their own families taxes to pay off the staggering debts incurred. Nobody else did anything,ever.....you talk about maybe the single most significant and noble act of cultural altruism in history and try to pretend it was no biggie? You sound like a petulant child.

It was to create a type of dependency on them. They love to larp about how the British empire taught the world stuff. But leave out how the British empire usually subjective whole native populations to permanent underclasses. Every so often they would pluck a token or two then act like they brought people up. Hot take is the world would have came to a lot of conclusions on its own and the British would have been better off not screwing with everyone else. People across the world were already coming to the conclusion that things like slavery was bad and wanted equality. The British did not bring those concepts and often they caused positive movements to stagnate. They would not have people crapping on their beloved empire if they just left everyone else the hell alone. That or if they truly cared they would have went about things mote differently which is not doing the evil stuff they willingly did.

It’s so amazing. Just invoke the conservative buzzwords, loving heritage, Judeo-Christian values, and present yourself like a conservative and you can say literally anything, no matter how antithetical it is to your audience’s actual supposed political orientation or even if it makes fun of them

Not even just Indians. Weirdos like tucker have a hard on when non Europeans suffer. Why? Because in tuckers head its justified because he sees all non Europeans as subhuman if even that. He is just like the writers of the white mans burden who feels the world owes Europeans everything. That non Europeans should wake up every day and kiss the asses of every white man they see.
