As someone who frequently watched people like Ben Shapiro, Steven Crowder, etc. I can be honest and say the reason why I watched them was because I wanted a sense of superiority. But after a while I became more self assured and also started to understand how much of an echo chamber I went into. This was also back in 2016 and LGBT rights were just starting to become more apparent to us in the U.S. so I also think it came from a lack of understanding.

I think they do know they’re just knowingly lying because they don’t think their audience is smart enough to notice. And knocking on doors has been part of that process since the beginning of journalism, you’re obliged to do your due diligence, even when people don’t answer the phone. A failed attempt at a phone call isn’t enough.

I just want to thank you for your persistent advocacy for trans people. You are right, Its so incrideibly difficult to have my existence debated everyday- its why I dont like talking about it- I just want to live my life with out being brought up 24/7, but the moment someone finds out it becomes a weapon against me. Suddenly I am not a person. I am a monster, out to get your kids. I started my transition young, and I am honestly lucky I survived... If i didnt get the treatment I needed (transitioning & therapy) I would not be here. I am so much happier and in a better state of mind- I couldnt even take care of my self with basic hygiene (like showers) before. How any of that translates into being a predator ? no clue. But thats the assumption the right makes and perpatuates; that it has nothing to do with my personal health, that id spend thousands and spend the rest of my life getting treatment... just to spread a non existent agenda to children, or spy on ppl in bathrooms, or become a olypmic athlete.

After years now of laughing at Republicans hypocrisy and absurdity, i'm just sad now. The amount of hate is just too much.

Went to a fundamentalist high school and had 2 teachers fired while attending. One man for grooming young boys from the drama club and one for sending inappropriate messages to former students who had graduated 1 month before. Along with this I had three teachers (all men) who were married to their former students. Not as bad, but I also had a teacher who remarried to his dead wife’s best friend a year after she died of breast cancer saying that he knew it was okay to do when he was reading his dead wife’s prayer journals and she was praying for her best friend to find a good husband in some entries and that she wanted him to find a good new mother for her children if she died in other entrees. He spent an entire 50min “Bible class” period telling the story of how he met his wife… which was mostly him justifying why his dead wife would have wanted this, even reading from her journal, and how happy he is now

This is my first time seeing the phrase “nuclear family” which I did not know existed but I personally think gender roles like the stay at home mom would be more of a personal thing than a cultural thing since no two families are the same. I also find it interesting how conservatives tend to cling to the ideas of old while the liberals tend to push new ideas forward like some sort of metronome. Overall, very interesting stuff.

@@leokolesnikov6280 well first of all he is portraying himself as a centrist which makes him more appealing to people who don't want to pick a side, but make no mistake he is a conservative, every thing he says is just conservative propaganda and sometimes even oil lobbying propaganda. He also talks very much without practical saying anything just using big words and complicated concepts to beat around the bush and never actually admit his bigoted conservative opinions. I don't know if you are a jp fan but I know I was, so if you are I am not telling who to listen just take a step back, listen to criticism of him (by hasan for example or someone else) and then with a truly open mind ask yourself if you agree with what he is saying.

It kinda should be pointed out that the "litterbox in school bathroom" thing wasn't even some pro-inclusive initiative or something it was a superintendent of the school district making fun of trans bathrooms and suggesting that if schools started adding gender neutral bathrooms then we might as well start including litter boxes for those who identify as furries as well. I forget if it ends there or if there was literally a litter box put in a gender neutral bathroom to mock trans kids for real but the whole thing was an attempt to make fun of and degrade trans students.
