INDIAN CLUBS | Gada - Mace Body Turn Secrets
This video tutorial will demonstrate how to execute a body turn with a gada or mace. The tutorial begins by demonstrating the basic technique of swinging the gada up and body-turning without making a circle.
To execute this technique, position your right shoulder forward and swing the gada back to the left side turning simultaneously. It is essential to maintain proper timing by pulling the gada down as you turn.
The tutorial then goes on to demonstrate the technique of swinging the gada up and over the top in a circular motion. To perform this technique, start with the Gada at the 10-2 position and pull it over to the other side, turning on the downswing. It is crucial to maintain the handle of the mace down in front of the body during this turn to avoid losing balance.
While the tutorial provides helpful tips on executing these techniques, it is important to note that proper execution requires a lot of practice in maintaining proper timing and balance during body turns.
I hope that this is a clear and accessible explanation of how to perform body turns with a gada or mace.

It is amazing to see you moving gada/mace at this age and also your contribution towards reviving the age old Indian tradition. We are still not ready to learn and revive our own traditional method of exercise.

It all started for me in Varanasi back in 2013, and I have loved swinging the Gada ever since. I think that the interest is growing in India, albeit very slowly. We cannot let these ancient traditions die out. Do you train in these traditional methods?

@@Wolkowinski pretty well, got to the point of feeling pretty smooth with at least one of the variations. And then family life got in the way of training. Again…should be back at it soon

How does this relate to doing a turn throw in wrestling? If I understand correctly the main wrestling application to the swing is an arm throw.

I am not an expert here, however I have been told by Indian wrestlers that swinging the Gada is excellent practice for head throws and arm throws. 🙏🏼 🙏🏼 🙏🏼
