For anyone coming across this video and thinking their Hellforged Contemptor Dreadnought is no longer a valid TS unit: There was an Errata for the Imperial Armour Compendium that stated that any NURGLE unit may be fielded as a DEATH GUARD unit and any TZEENTCH unit may be fielded as a THOUSAND SONS unit. I’ve pinned this one. I did address this in a follow up video, but the joys of content creating on a continually changing rule set often means that out of date videos won’t get an update comment or re-visited. That would be mad work to do!

Crossing my fingers that this means we may get our psyker dreadnaught with the new codex.

It would be nice. They know the mechanics for them with the BA version so it’s not a tricky migration to give us ours is it!

Hopefully the new TS codex sorts this out. Utter crime if u can’t use some of your minis especially with the lovely paint jobs on your dreds etc. Then again, chaos’s is never aloud to have too much fun :S good video

Savage to be honest ,, I appreciate they may want more people to have armies that vary more ,ie chaos not having the same stuff as marines but they did have this tech in the begining ...plus a slower shift would of been appreciated similar to what we all know they are doing with first born marines .

Chaos should just have the mutated versions of the Imperial stuff with added funk. As you say, it all stems from the same source, although Cawl's additions would be treated differently. I don't think I want floaty tanks and so on, but tougher bikers, and more daemonic engines are where it should be at! But pretty savage that 2 entire single codex factions got battered by a single keyword change/oversight!

They are still cool models and work in 30k Heresy gaming, but for 40K right now, all you can do is shelve them or perhaps use them as a substitute Helbrute.

Tricky to really say, FW models in a codex would be a new thing, unless they include a Contemptor entry because GW sell the plastic version, and then the let us have a psychic dread that the Osiron would be perfect for? Or there will be new TS models in plastic! We can dream🤣

Not fussed if there is a plastic kit or not, just a rules precedent to use what we have already. The Osiron is already a lovely model!

Guess what, number of years I have bought into Tomb Kings. Before I painted three boxes of those, they got deleted. I am not allowed to have anything nice lol

My only Fantasy army was TK too! I wish I kept the bits for the TS conversions, but getting an entire army squatted was hard on the brain for me. I sold my collection in the end. The new Bonereaper range is stunning, but I’d love to have a Necrosphynx again😢

Those parts make for great conversions for sure. I need to rummage around and hope I have a few leftovers, but I know I sold the good stuff inc a mint still wrapped Sphynx 😢

So is there a date on which we can expect a thousand sons Codex? I really love sons, and I am about to get into the actual hobby myself ( Only flirted with it before, through other media and Table Top Sim games, ) and the fact that they are so Psyker heavy, that they can field Magnus and that they have such cool armor really pulls me to them. Anyway, amazing video i love watching your content about Sons!

Thanks Robin! As a flavourful army the TS are amazing for sure. Daemon Primarchs, magic galore, troops made of reanimated dust, what’s not to love? As for the codex, nothing has been said on the roadmap from GW yet. We have Death guard and Drukhari confirmed but nothing for us yet. I’ll be covering all stuff relating to it when we get it for sure!!!

As Ts collector AND huge walkers fan - tottaly agree, that wierd worded text block in legendary pdf (which was rewriten) so I dont really know what to expect. Plus, all the chaos dreadnoughts misses "hellbrute" keyword (again) so currently they dont get any legion trait bonuses >. At least I have my 3 deredeos and 3 contempters painted into tree different gods (khorne-off) to represent rarity of that archeotech

Yeah that legends doc was changed within 30 mins wasn’t it? First up all our FW models were usable, but legends only, so basically unusable in many events, then back to just not useable due to the core rules legion keyword again. Madness! The loss of the Helbrute word was also odd, again possible oversight, or another error as the book is full of crazy entries and errors!

The bolters on my Death Company now have to be counted as Bolt Pistols. I can't imagine losing $200 worth of forgeworld models. The Nerfs to Deredeos and Leviathans are a mixed bag. My Blood Angels lost an Invulnerable save Aura, but that makes the list simpler and more shooty with missile launchers instead. Leviathans lost strength, but are a lot cheaper now, easier to include in lists. And Fire Support Dreads can still be buffed up to 2+ BS with a Tech Marine, right?

Exactly! I have DC with bolters too😢 But I like the balance changes to the dreads across the board as with the new big guns rules and working with combat it’s a good balance to the core changes. But, a single keyword makes a big issue to not be able to even include them is just wrong!

That sucks :( Could you take a different detachment to use them, like Black Legion and then just have them in your colours? So not using TS rules but being able to use them with your army?

Yeah I guess there is a possibility of going this route as long as any characters in that detachment look different enough to look like they are in a different detachment etc. It’s something to play around with and look a bit more in depth at for sure

That really sucks, I'm hoping it's just an oversight and they are added into the new codex or it just gets an faq, saying that though I'm still waiting for the Age of Sigmar faq so I can use my 50 Empire Knights in my Freeguild army and that's been about 3 years now.

I’m hoping it is an oversight and will all be fixed in an overdue FAQ, or part of a grand plan for the codex that will be so OP, everyone will hate us😂🙏 We will feel like the T’Au in 8th or the Primaris in early 9th🤷‍♂️

News today though is that in the GW app, the Contemptors are selectable! So...which is right? GWs own app, or GWs own written publication? Answers on a postcard...

Hopefully all works out for the best. Seems odd to stuff it up for chaos players in the Imperial Armour book but improve them in individual chaos codices.

I’m convinced there are errors in the book on this. I mean, it’s a loss of sales surely? They used to limit some models to some factions but it’s not a sound business choice, so I hope to see them reverse this like they did before ! But they are dragging their heels so far...

@@OldAverageBritGaming it has a lot of people confused but also up in arms about it. It definitely doesn’t make sense from a sales point of view. Hopefully all is resolved before long. The upcoming Death Guard codex will potentially shed some light on things.

It does occur to me you might actually be better off running TS as a Tzeentch marked regular chaos army. With smite nerfed, an effective limit of 3 pyskers and 1 cabal unless you want to spend a lot of CP it is not as if they are the psychic force they were. You would loose Tzaangor and Vortex beasts but gain forge world models, obliterators, possessed etc. Your terminators would loose all is dust but nearly everything else would crossover just fine. Might have to count discs as jump packs and few other tweaks but I suspect it might actually be a more playable army with better options that keeps its pretty look and paint scheme. Given CSM are probably going to get a new codex ahead of TS anyway it really might be the best way to keep your TS on the table until they get some love. If they get some love.

That’s something I have never really considered to be honest. A pseudo TS army that is just CSM with MoT... I might have to take a look at this and weigh up the pros and cons (although you have summarised that rather nicely already!)

Yeah, pros and cons but I do like the idea of converting some TS obliterators, warp talons and Tzeentch possessed. It would loose some flavour maybe but nearly everything can be given Tzeentch marks. It could continue to work as an allied CSM soup contingent if you built it right.

Unfortunately getting into the inbox of the rules team seems impossible! The community team are great but are just as in the dark as the rest of us when you ask them stuff like this. It’s a waiting game for now for me, lucky with covid there is plenty of waiting to be done!

Even if you are top tier it doesn’t seem to stop GW adding more power to them🤣 but I do agree I think we will be lucky to see Contemptor or Decimators in a codex. The only real saviour is a FAQ to change the keyword mechanic

you know what, I am the guy that always tries to find a positive in every negative. But this time..... fuck GW for doing this kind of bs. And lowering leviathans T from T8 to T7.....

This is frankly the final straw for me. The TS have taken a battering in the transition from 8th to 9th anyway but now we simply loose all our forge world without explanation or justification? For me this means £400+ worth of miniatures, hundreds if not thousands of hours of painting and conversion just written off. I accept rules need to change and rebalance, that is the nature of an evolving game but to loose a huge array of miniatures in this fashion is unacceptable and shows GW simply don't give a shit about minor factions that don't sell well. I am over it in a big way. It has killed my will to paint or play, so many of my painted models were already largely rededundent. I think I will ebay my 40k armies and invest in a non GW game. Dropzone commander is looking quite appealing...

I feel the pain you feel as you can tell from the video, super frustrating, but...it’s all ok now thankfully. But why it was there in the first place, and why it took 6 weeks to fix is infuriating for people financially invested so deep into the product and system.
