I'm being induced at 37 weeks pregnant.

when you're watching this, I will be in the hospital being induced. my induction should take place Monday December 12th. I know inductions can be a controversial topic, and while I don't judge what others want to do, I was completely against them and this was never part of my birth plan. please watch the video before commenting any negative opinions regarding inductions, this was medically necessary. I can't believe I'm about to meet my baby girl!

I´m a mom too and I was induced at 38 weeks... When you are having a baby there is no such thing as "anti...". The important thing is for you and your baby to be healthy and safe. Everything will work out fot the best. I´ve been here for years yet rarely comment. Sending much love from BRAZIL, Ana

I’m not a mom but This right here! I understand that a lot of women have an ideal plan for their birth but giving birth isn’t something you can totally plan for. The ultimate goal should just be to have a healthy mom and baby!

Just in case no one told you… what you’re experiencing is completely valid. Your grief over your birth plan is valid. Your grief over the three weeks you thought you’d have is valid. Your joy about meeting your baby is valid. It doesn’t matter what anyone else has gone through or that they’ve “had it worse”. I wish you/baby good health and a smooth delivery. ❤

If it’s any comfort to you or anyone reading, I was induced from medical necessity both pregnancies at 37 weeks. It took out a lot of the anxiety around wondering when things could happen suddenly and if things would go wrong before I could get to a hospital. I felt a lot of comfort being monitored 24/7, and knowing I’m in a place with access to help and professionals at any given second. I hope things go smoothly, safely, and beautifully for you and sweet baby girl.

SARAH you are already such a good mom to your baby girl, seeing the way you get emotional about having to protect her in the real world before she’s even born shows the level of care in your heart. Even if you didn’t get the natural, spiritual birth with laboring at home like you envisioned you should be SO proud of yourself. Maybe you can have a postpartum ceremony and pamper yourself with baby girl and make it into a new years tradition so you can really get the full effect. All the best to you, Ryan and of course her 💝

I’m not a mother, never plan to be. I don’t know a lot about pregnancy, birth and such. But what you’re feeling is completely valid. You’re allowed to feel anxious. You’re allowed to not feel confident. You’re allowed to be worried. You’re allowed to not be excited about this change. You’re allowed to be disappointed your plan that you were attached to isn’t happening. But trust your doctor, trust they are doing what’s best for you and your Bub. They want you and baby to be as safe as possible. Try and prepare yourself best you can, but once you’re in the moment you won’t care about all the little things. You’ll be focused on labour and meeting your little one. And once you lay eyes on them, everything will feel okay. Perfect. I’m sorry things aren’t going to plan. Best of luck and I know all will be okay ❤ sending all my love and support to all three of you.

Pre-eclampsia has nothing to do with your anxiety. It is actually caused by a problem with the blood supply to the placenta. There are risk factors for it (pre existing high blood pressure, diabetes, obesity), but you didn’t cause it by being anxious or consuming caffeine, etc. Though it can be serious, it is also quite common. Everything will work itself out just fine. Take care of yourself and your new love!

My sister had preeclampsia and I had to rush her to the hospital to get a c-section one afternoon after her BP kept increasing. She had other complications and a c-section was the plan. She also wanted to wait but for the health of the mother and the baby, it was time. Don't be so hard on yourself, pregnancy does crazy things to the body. I suggest watching Raw Beauty Kristi's birth video, nothing went according to plan and she struggled with not getting her birth plan go down. It's heartbreaking but her baby is now 1 year old and after a lot of hard times she is doing better as well.

But honestly, a year later, I’m grateful to have had doctors who had my best interests in mind. It is their goal to ensure you and baby make it through safely and as healthy as possible. Sending you lots of positive energy and wishing all the best for your little family. 💞

Preeclampsia/gestational hypertension is rarely caused by anxiety. It usually has something to due with how the placenta formed early on and the vessels there. So, do not blame yourself. Also, pre-eclampsia is more common with 1st time pregnancies, and the risk is lower with a second.

I had a very similar experience in July with my first. I wasn't anti induction but I wanted to know what it felt like to go into labor naturally. I went in at 38 weeks and my bp was high. They wheeled me down to be monitored & told me if it stayed high i was being induced that day. It went down and labs were fine so I monitored at home the next day it was higher. I went back to the hospital to be monitored again and was given an induction date 3 days later. My heart is with you. My induction was very positive very minimal pain for most of the time and it was amazing. You truly won't care about how she got here when you hold your baby girl. But you do have the right to mourn the birth you dreamed of. Sending you the best of luck, well wishes and good vibes.

So proud of you for making such a hard decision! There's no reason you have to defend it to ANYONE! It's hard when we have a plan and our bodies decide not to cooperate. Induction is made out to be a really scary thing, but I've helped with and seen BEAUTIFUL births where moms had to have more interventions than they originally planned due to medical reasons. I know it's hard and so easy to be skeptical of doctors and their intentions. I'm 36 weeks and was told I may need an induction too due to the baby's size. It's not what I originally planned for myself so I understand the frustration and that feeling of fear and disappointment. I hope you have a positive and beautiful experience and that you and your little girl stay happy and healthy. Best of luck to you, momma! ❤️ You are soooo strong to have gotten to this point and to go through the stress of these decisions....and don't let anyone let you feel like the way you give birth changes that!! You are wonder woman!! 💪❤️

I'm so sorry things didn't go as planned Sarah! I hope holding her in your arms soon will make everything stressful melt away. I'm praying that things go well during your delivery! I also don't think it's at all stupid to be suspicious of induction especially so close to Christmas, many people who don't need inductions end up being pressured into them by their doctor as you know, and that's such a valid fear to have.

Watching this made me so emotional, both for you and thinking back to my son being born in January. I was having bad swelling and my blood pressure was increased at some of my appointments, I was so emotional and nervous that I would have to be induced. I was luckily able to take some extra time off work which helped and I did not have to be induced early. BUT my son was so comfortable that I was two weeks late and ended up being induced even though I REALLY did not want to. Same as you, it wasn't even a thought in my mind that it would have to happen! But the only thing that matters is both of your safety. I hope you're having an amazing time with your baby.

I empathize with your situation so much. I had my baby last year and I had such a specific vision for my birth plan, and everything that I thought was going to happen, the exact opposite happened and it was definitely a grieving process but it’s so exciting because you’re having a baby! It’s going to be completely crazy and everything that happens is going to come at you so fast! It’s so good to just try to stay present and give yourself as much grace as possible. Trust yourself. You’re gonna be a great mom 😊
