INDUCING LABOR? Do NOT Do These 5 Things! | The Induction Series Pt 5

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

IF YOU ARE BEING INDUCED, DON’T DO THESE 5 THINGS! Inducing labor is sometimes a necessary part of a mama’s birth story, but before an induction, you need to know these 5 things that I’m sharing about in this video and make sure you’re NOT doing them before your labor induction. If you’re on the fence and asking yourself, “Should I get induced?” watching this video might help you answer that question or feel confident about how to find the answer to that question.
Labor and delivery and having a baby is a BIG DEAL and it will be an event that sticks with you for the rest of your life. You should feel confident as you are preparing for labor and knowing how they induce labor, what is labor like with an induction, and what to know about an induction can help you feel confident and prepare for birth in a positive and productive way. With an induction side effects - both positive and negative, are present. If you are giving birth soon and facing a cytotec, cervidil, or pitocin induction or even uncertain about a membrane sweep, you can watch the rest of the INDUCTION SERIES about how to induce labor, how is labor induced for a hospital birth, and what to do for an induction as well as what to know.

I watched your videos during my pregnancy. My son will be 2 months on Saturday and I must say I tried everything lol. Every way they say can help induce at home did absolutely nothing. Waiting it out was the only way. Water broke at home at 39+1 labor only lasted 30 minutes and I pushed for 10 seconds. No tears, no complications, no pain afterwards, no stitches. Was walking around immediately after. Went down to preprgnancy weight immediately. Im happy I did as much research and breathing practices as I could. Nurses kept saying they couldn't believe it was my first kid. A lot of it I give thanks to you for your videos. 💙 edit: My nurses were amazing. They caught my baby lol, doctor was too slow. They were friendly, made me feel comfortable, helped my husband get over the fear of holding him, my husband doesn't like blood and stuff but they had him in there so comfortable he helped pull him out, the nurses took a bunch of pictures of us and him cutting the cord it was a fantastic experience. I made sure to tell them what I needed and they were happy to do it.

My Ob wanted to induce me at 37+0 weeks, because I have cholestasis. However, my bile acid levels are *barely* over the normal threshold. It took some research on my part, but I learned that the stillbirth rate for me was barely higher than for normal pregnancies (about 1/8 of a percent). I talked it through with my Ob, and we decided to induce at 39+0 weeks, unless my bile acid levels substantially increase or there are other indications of fetal distress, before then. For reference, for those who don't know, *severe* cholestasis can increase the chances of stillbirth (from sudden heart failure) by anywhere from ten- to thirty-fold, so the disease itself is nothing to sneeze at.

I was induced Thursday morning, 24 hour peasary! Told I was dilated 2cm and ready for water breaks.. all Friday waited in the queue.. they checked me Saturday 2am to say they made a mistake I’m only 1cm so I had the 6 hour gel and then 6 jour tablet. I got contractions on and off - like period pains!!! Might of been a bit worse so they gave me paracetamol and a liquid to drink. I then slept the night..Sunday night broke my waters and I gave birth in less than 3 hours… the pains were unbearable as the gas and air I felt were not working… but overall the waiting around in hospital was more depressing than the induction.. I was in hospital 6 days.. but glad the labour was fast!! My gas and air was through a mask which is why it didn’t work effectively.. before it was through a pipe!!

Can you make a similar video for a scheduled C-section? I was diagnosed with a low-lying placenta and I got terrified when the doctor mentioned it might be advisable... I was looking forward to vaginal birth, getting informed, and preparing the best way I can. But if the situation doesn't change, it appears that the risks are very high, and it seems to be the only choice. There is still a long way and things might change, but it's already giving me a lot of anxiety. In addition, all the information I find on the internet appears to try to discourage people from choosing a C-section because often they are afraid of a vaginal delivery, not the other way around... I know that in your course you mentioned that there are cases it's advisable, and we should be grateful for the option to exist, but there is limited information on how to prepare for that. I would also like to know how a Doula can help in those circumstances... Thanks a lot for all the info you have on your channel!

What is frustrating to me, is the legalities surround inductions. In my state, the cut off date is 42 weeks. Once you hit that mark, you have to go into the hospital to be induced. I'm working with my midwives to avoid this, but am currently 41+1 days and not really having a whole lot of signs of labor. These laws make it feel like we have to rush and like the decision to induce is ultimately not our own.

i understand completely! i live in Greece and if you can believe it most doctors by 40 weeks try and scare you into getting induced! and most women aren't well informed and listen! i found a doctor who is willing to wait maximum 41 weeks and 4-5 days... if you want to give birth here after 42 weeks you definitely need to find a doctor/doula who believes in waiting or have a home birth.. but it is still rare!!

My doctor attempted to induce me at 37 weeks for high blood pressure. Which i don't have. They monitored my blood pressure continuously at the hospital for 24 hours and if anything it was reading a little low at times. But for reasons unbeknownst to me the doctor kept insisting that we continue. They tried several different methods to get me to dilate and for my cervix to soften. None of them worked. After about 24 hours i couldn't take it anymore. I could tell my baby was uncomfortable and unhappy and so was i. My husband and i opted to go back home. It was a horrible horrible experience for literally no reason. Wish i wouldn't have agreed to it.

I think you should just get second opinion about blood pressure..and ask if they'll use different size cuffs...(the one they were using on me was too small)...and also give yourself time to relax before they measure it..just like 2 minutes or so. If after all of that youre still measuring high, i would go ahead with what your doctor says....one more thing that made me question it was that i had ZERO swelling anywhere...and no headaches or other symptoms..so id look out for that too

I had to be induced a year and a half ago for preeclampsia with my 3rd baby. It was a week before she was actually born, and then she ended up in the NICU for a few days to monitor her for some issues she had thanks to the meds I'd had to be on in the hospital. Induction is not a walk in the park. Hope you are enjoying those baby cuddles these days. Soak up every minute! I'm due with #4 in a few weeks and have some complications that I fear might lead to a (legitimately necessary) induction... again. 😭 I'm a homebirth loving mama, but sometimes some interventions are necessary. They have their impact, though. Just wanted to share, to let you know you aren't alone, and you aren't crazy. The trauma is real. I'm still working through it (double time, before this next babe!). If you're struggling, talk to someone, and keep on talking till you find the right someone. Best wishes to you and your new little one! 💕

And I need to get induced at 38 week and get the baby out asap. The doc put Foley catheter bulb thing in my vagina to get induction started. Then later I was put on oxytocin. I was in labour for total 12 hours. I was given epidural after 5hours of pain. My cervix didn't dilate more than 5cm and then I had to go for c section and later we found out that the baby isn't that big. Baby was 3.4kgs only. So, the whole thing was unnecessary and I had to go through the pain and later c section and then pain again for nothing.

Same. My doctor suggested a induction that's not medically nessesary . Everytime asked a question, the had a positive answer and failed to inform me of what I feel based on my own research at home...are all negative COMMON things that come with having an induction. Only reason I woukd consider being induced is because I have quick labors (1 hr for 2 kids) and fear j won't make it to the hospital in time. Also, my husband works 1 hr & 10 mins from our home. So I would have to call an ambulance to go to the hospital . And lastly, because we moved to a new state & because of hospital covid policies of no children allowed, we have no one we trust to watch our kids. If I have a scheduled induction..i will make it to the hospital, can find a sitter we trust, and my husband can attend the birth. But based on my own research, I'm starting to second guess my decision, I hate that ismts so un natural, and starting to get very nervous with the idea of having one . I dknt understand why the doctors always fail to inform you of what coukd go wrong . Examples- longer mire painful labor, possible delay of breastmilk coming in after delivery, fetal distress & lower heart rate leading to a c-section, epidural s to manage intense pain when u really didn't want one, and the list goes on & on. And not dialating fast enough . Doesn't sound fun to me. My doctor wants to try to break my water ...and if that doesn't work..pitocian . Which I don't want. Torn on what's the best option for me.

There are negligent providers who put a premium on their own convenience over the autonomy of patients, maybe because childbirth is something they deal with on a daily basis and is not a big deal for them anymore. But for women, especially first time moms, it’s a very significant event and one that they would want to have good memories of, instead of the usual “horror stories” that we hear so much of as pregnant women.

Well. They are trained robots. While you are going through the experience first hand, there is also alot of intuition and instinct going on they do not have (although not all humans are tapped into this) So yes, some need guided by "the professionals"

I feel like my problem was number 4 PEOPLE PLEASER. I hate making people feel bad or saying no. But it should be something I’m comfortable with regardless of my doctors opinion Thank you for this reminder Currently 40weeks🤍

@@AlexN0me11 hi! Ended up with an emergency csection but a healthy boy! So I’m thankful… He stopped breathing and had an infection after two days of labor. Overall I stood my ground on what I wanted until there was nothing else I could do
