Hello, hey hi. Haha. I like your alias, it's uppety. It seems to say something about your personality, like you're sort of naturally goofy, but without trying to be. 😁 Dang, you're lucky. I miss my coffee days. I used to drink a little bit of coffee with my cream and sugar, if you know what I mean. 😂 Used to give me energy, but it just makes my heart condition act up now. I've learned to live with it without any medication or surgery, though. I refuse surgery. I've had way too many doctors traumatize me by threatening me, and in some cases, purposely trying to kill me. So, I naturally have PTSD. I'm afraid of all of them. I'm glad you're doing ok. Likewise. I'm ok, too. :-) I have had a recent traumatic experience, and I am certainly going through some serious things with my health and emotions, , but Jesus is my comforter, and He upholds me with His righteous right hand. He is my helper in times of trouble. 🙏👐💖 I just feel like I want to share something, because it's so profound to me, and it's beautiful! I first received Christ 6 years ago, and I was so close to Him. Nothing mattered to me except serving God. Then about 4 years after living 4 Christ, I lost my faith, (depending on how one perceives how damned I felt inside after catching wind of a doctrine of perfection. This man I for some reason began to believe, instead of reading my own Bible like I used to every day, suddenly pulled me away from it. He taught that if you ever since at all after receiving Christ, you are damned to hell. This turned me away from God for nearly 2 years, until recently. I didn't know God anymore, and the more I tried not to sin and work for my salvation, the more I sinned, the further my heart was from God. I became desperate for truth, and kept asking God if this were really true. About 2 months ago the Lord spoke to my heart; He reminded me of the sheep that get lost then find their way home, and heaven rejoices for them. Then He reminded me that those who trust in Him are not under the curse of the law, but we have been circumcised from the law, and that it is not by works that we are saved, but it is through faith, which produces grace that gives us the glorious hope of heaven. I had a sudden desire to read my Bible I had hardly touched in 2 years. I started with 1 John 1, then read the entire book of Romans, then the entire book of Ephesians, and I fell so in love with God again!! Yes, we do sin less and less every day, and stumble, but we feel terrible and hurt when we sin, because it hurts God. It is being unfaithful to Him. But Jesus is the advocate for our sin, pleading with the Father. So, we sin, but not like we did when we were carnal, and because we thirst for God, our sin is minimal. Hallelujah!! I am just glad to be free, and in the truth! Praise God 👐👐💗💗 Bless you! If you are all male, then bless you brother, or if you are a female, then bless you sister! Keep thinking the race, and keep your eyes on Jesus. He will never fall you if you love Him. ☺ P.S. I am a male. My name is Chris. 🙆

God did a work on the inside of us so now we show we are saved by how we live our lives for God it’s called sanctification and holiness . We work it out because God is doing a good work inside of us he has poured his love into our hearts . Like Paul says to let our lights shine . I like what Leonard Ravenhill said .. “Are the things your living for worth Christ dying for ?” On the flip side there are many false conversions/counterfeit Christianity.

Well done. I see this verse now as an ENCOURAGEMENT to embrace the journey of sanctification with 100% courage. It is hinged because of a promise and context, and also by the reassurance that God is working through us in the first place. Such a beautiful understanding, always wondered a good way to reconcile this with grace. Thank you!

Thank you DG for helping to remind us of another truth that God is with us, that the Holy Spirit is within us. We are not alone, God was mighty to save us from sin and reunite us with Him through His Son Jesus Christ and is just as mighty to bring to completion, perfection of Jesus Christ in us. Lets continue to hope in Him. Lets remember daily that He is good. Lets give thanks to Him always. I pray that as followers of Christ we strive to joyfully do the will of the Father who loves us and has His guiding hand over us.

Notice in 1:19 the same word that’s translated as “salvation” is translated as “deliverance”. If you simply read chapters 1 and 2 in their entirety it’s easy to see that Paul is talking about his deliverance (made possible by the prayers of fellow believers and the Spirit) from trials and sufferings that comes from obeying Christ in the sense that it has resulted in the preaching of the gospel. Then he implores the believers in Philippe to LIKEWISE AND IN THE SAME SENSE to workout (strive and produce) their own deliverance/salvation from suffering and trials brought on by preaching Christ through being obedient just as Jesus obeyed and suffered. Paul is talking to ALREADY born again believers who are “in Christ”, “saints”, “partakers of grace”. The word translated as salvation in 2:12 is not referring to eternal salvation from hell. It’s about deliverance/salvation from sufferings and trials as a result of being obedient to Christ and His gospel. Consider read chapter 1 and 2 with this in mind and I think you’ll find it makes way more sense than what Mr Piper describes in this video.

I think you missed the part where it says “as you have always obeyed”. It seems to imply that whoever this letter is addressed to has obeyed God from the beginning, possibly from Mt Sinai. Or it’s talking about the church. No one can fear and tremble against something they can’t see, so I would say that these people, whoever they are, somehow have the spirit of God and understand what they should be fearing and trembling against, namely God, who asks them to work out their salvation through the spirit he gives them.

What is lacking is the use of other scriptures. The Spirit of God teaches us the deep things of God, comparing spiritual things with spiritual. 1 Corinthians 2:9-10,12-13 KJVS [9] But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. [10] But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. [12] Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. [13] Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. Not in words which man's wisdom teach. Timothy was instructed to study the scriptures to show himself approved of the Lord, 2 Ti 2:15. www.justifiedfreely.com

+Ruston Aguada..I Love Jesus..I think the spotlight should always be on Him. He has given us the Perfect, concise Plan of Salvation. "Love and Obey my commandments and Trust Me and you will go to Heaven.". Jesus says it All in Matthew 5 6 7. Over 2/3 of the NT is written by Paul..a somewhat reformed Pharisee..who gave us a whole bunch More rules..that only confuse people and give them things to argue about and distract them from Jesus Own Words. He gives us a false idea of what Jesus actually said. I am tired of people arguing over the words of Paul and totally overlooking Jesus commandments. I can give you an example..my former husband..he thought he was saved because he went to the right church and did the right church things..But he Loved money and his worldly image. He did not Keep the commandments..but thought his church saved him..just as many other people think they are saved because of an idea of Pauls..when they don't even know what Jesus Said and what the commandments actually are. Paul Distracts us from Jesus and What Jesus Said and greatly confuses people as to what the Plan of Salvation is.

The epistles were never meant to be intricately dissected to the this ridiculous degree. We shouldn’t have to meticulously parse words, and comb through lexicons and Greek dictionaries to understand the simple message that Paul was stating here. It means exactly what it says: Every Christian must “work out” their salvation by pursuing Christ and walking in obedience, with the fear of God as our motivation.

Michael Nelson True salvation requires visible fruits, different levels but non the less. There are two extremes: Trying to buy your salvation with works, and keep living the same life you had as a sinner. Working out your salvation, not working for it. Christ paid, and if you don’t respond in obedience people have the right to doubt you’re truly saved. Obeying will come as second nature; sinning, but having a contrite attitude after sinning. We all still sin.

Does Paul tell you to follow him? No, Paul tells you to follow Jesus. So why do you reject this? Do you know that Paul knew Jesus? The book of Acts explains this. All the disciples of Jesus approved of Paul. It was Jesus Himself that commanded Paul to preach the gospel. So just as you accept the gospels, accept Paul’s writings, because the people who wrote the gospels, approved of Paul.

So sad. He’s unquestionably teaching that in addition to believing in Christ for the promise of eternal life the requirement of my own meritorious works (with God’s help) to enter heaven also is necessary. Your personal effort and obedience are not a requirement of entering heaven. The only “work” you must do is to be convinced that that Jesus is the Christ (the resurrection and the life who promises eternal life to all who believe in Him for it) and you are instantly, forever, and irrevocably secure for all eternity in Christ. Obedience and good works are necessary for our discipleship and fellowship with God. They are not required for entrance into heaven.

If you have no action or obedience I would be questioning if your salvation is genuine. True love for the Lord should stir us up to do the works He has prepared for us to do. We should see evidence of fruit. "Not everyone that saith unto me Lord, Lord shall enter the Kingdom of heaven, but he that doeth the will of my Father" Matthew 7:21 We must take up our cross daily. There is action there produced by genuine faith.

@@cza7751 The false prophets in Matthew 7 were convinced they would enter the Kingdom because of their good works. “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. 22 Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ 23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’ (Matthew 7:21-23) Doing the "will of the Father" is how we enter the Kingdom. What's the "will of the Father"?: And this is the WILL OF HIM WHO SEND ME, that everyone who sees the Son and BELIEVES in Him may have everlasting life; and I will raise him up at the last day. (John 6 :40). Good works and obedience are extremely important for already saved Christian.
