This video gave me ALL of the details about how to operate this device, including how to do playback ON the device. I don't have a sense of small techy gadgets so I needed to hear a complete instructional, and THIS was the only one online that had everything so I can record interviews, play them back on the device, and download them to my computer. Thank you.

This video was a life-saver! I have to record my students' oral exams this coming week. My facilitator showed me how to set things up, record, etc., but I still had questions. Thanks for posting this one! My father uses this to record music live but have relied on auto recording. He have noticed that it cuts off certain dynamics. He indeed did wonder if the levels could be customized and it can be done like I thought it would be. It would have been silly otherwise since it can be done with Zoom H2 which I use as a audio card for my PC. Great device because it has mic which is ideal for voice chat or home recording. I used it often for acoustic guitars, flute, harmonica and such.

Your video actually helped me to come to a purchase decision as it shows all the main features of the H1. There are no shops where I live, so I depend on the internet for information (and, ultimately, buying). Thank you very much!

All of a sudden(?) my Zoom H1 seemed to not have enough 'space' on the SD card; was only getting 1 1/4 hour record time on the lowest kbps setting. Thought I was gonna have to buy a new card. Research online brought me to this page and all the comments about your video Michael Bednarsky. Voila! It worked. Followed the part of your tutorial about formatting the card...trash can etc. and I'm a happy recorder guy again! Thanks so much for your excellent advice.

Thanks for the video. Lots of good tips for those of us who haven't taken the time to read the manual. ;) I didn't even realize we could change the WAV quality setting from the default. I don't think it will record 3 channels when you plug in an external mic though. Unless there's a setting I'm missing, I think it just disables the on-board mics.

Nice tutorial Michael. I just purchased my H1 and your tutorial helped a lot. One question I have is can you use the USB to computer connection to record directly to a file on a computer. I've been doing some video recording on an ATV with my GoPro camera and of course get a lot of wind noise. I would like to be able to play back the video and annotate an audio track real time. Can this be done or do I have to record directly to the H1 and then import and sync the audio with the video track with my Sony Movie Studio editing software?

Very helpful, thanks. I'm renting one tomorrow to record a live rock concert. Is the H1 sufficiently good quality for recording shows with its built-in mics? From reading a little online it sounds like the H1 is fine for such recordings while higher up models H2 & H4 are better for wired recordings direct from a soundboard (which I won't be doing). But if H1's not so good for concerts, do let us know!

My question is, I have a Zoom H1 and the level channels are not working correctly evenly, the left is working and is doing what is should, the right is not showing thats it's hearing the sound, is this adjustable or is is there something else I can do to correct this? Thanks! This was really helpful :) I have a question. I did an WAY recording of a conversation and maxed out the card so it stopped by itself during the recording (I had my WAW sett to 96/16). Now I can't access the file on my recorder and I can't delete it. It just says 'Card Full'. Do you know how I can delete that recording directly on the H1?

Do you know if you can put a stereo line input into the external microphone input? I would like to use this as a lightweight recorder to pull audio from a mixing console for remote recording sessions.

+Michael Bednarsky what is the largest sd card you can use?I want to record ac/dc on march 29th..is it good for ear blowing sound levels?
