The BlueYeti is a microphone, the Zoom H1 is not a microphone. It's a recording unit that just happens to have a microphone inbuilt.

The blue yeti is only ok. It's limited to a usb audio format, the built in audio usb soundcard on the blue yeti is not very good whatsoever. You would get much better audio with an XLR mic hooked up to an interface, which has a dedicated soundcard. So for a much better audio setup for the same price, here's what I recommend: Marantz MPM-1000 as a microphone and the Berhinger u-phoria UMC-22 Audio Interface. The setup totals around $85 and produces much better sound quality, and as a cherry on top, it's much more upgradeable. I hope this comment helps you guys looking for good audio on a budget :)

Of course, there is just no comparison between these two devices. The blue yeti is a USB microphone, and needs to be plugged into a PC, laptop or whatever. On the other hand, the zoom H1 is a recorder first, and can be used as a USB microphone if you like. But primarily it is an out and about in the field recording device, capable of first class recordings, suitable for radio interviews et cetera, and also for other things too. Therefore, you cannot compare these two like for like, there are two totally different devices! That is why, on the blue yeti box it says that it’s a microphone, and on the H1 zoom, on the front it clearly states a recorder! Steve U.K.

I thought about getting a Zoom H1 for recording on the go, but I decided to order the Movo WMIC70 Wireless 48-Channel UHF Lavalier Microphone System (yes that was copied and pasted) because I wanted to simply plug in a transmitter into my camera and just have the receiver in my back pocket. I wanted decent audio quality and I also wanted range for doing video without having to stand in front of my camera all close. I did think about getting a roadmic but I didnt wanna have to yell, so I decided the Movo was the best for my budget.. Now I know what you might be thinking, for the price of the Movo I could of gotten the H1 AND blue yeti but i dunno lol...

Damn, all videos on KZread look alike (and it’s bad). Plus: testing the audio of the two microphones with the background music on? Not really the best choice, IMHO.
