Raised on a farm, we have fried eggs. I never had a poached egg. Here I am at 11:30 at night, come across you video and think I got to try it. Being we get about 35 eggs a day. I had a few eggs only hours old! 1145 I poach 2 eggs, Delicious! This is definitely top of the menu now in the mornings, or a midnight snack😂

Fried eggs are so good, I love crisping up the edges of the white and still have a runny yolk. But when it comes to Eggs Benedict poached eggs are the way. I bet your beautiful farm fresh eggs were perfect for this. 🙂
discovered the ladle method a few months ago, brushing the ladle with some olive or veg oil, parcook it for literally 10 seconds, then dump the egg in. works every time and looks perfect!

Crack 1 egg into a shallow cup filled with cold water so that the water is a finger level above the egg. Add a pinch of salt. Microwave for 1 minute (approximately). Done. Sorry to be a spoil-sport but this is not rocket science.
I love you John. You make folks happy!
Thank you! It's so nice to have a video dedicated just to poaching an egg, even though you have instructions in your Eggs Benedict recipe. This way we can go straight to the eggformation we need😄
Lmao I’m here to watch how to poach eggs for my dog. lol

I made my poached egg this morning using the strainer method and it worked perfectly, no vinegar or swirling the water around was needed.

Finally bought your book. After 2 weeks it got here, in Brazil. Already made 3 recipes! ❤
I really appreciate your encouragement ❤
Thank you John; you always explain things so well with a little dash of humor. I love eggs!
Thank you for the tips. Hopefully, the next time I cook poached eggs, they are going to turn out great. With love from Australia 🇦🇺
John Kanell, I love your blog, U-tube and books. In fact you're the only one that speaks distinctly, explains exactly and is 100% entertaining. I would love to see you have a TV show. Prime time of course. Food Network Channel eat your heart out. P.S. I'm 87 and have learned to cook through your instruction.
I love poached eggs, and have tried all of the hacks. I like your method of creating a vortex to help the egg hold together. Thank you!

How to poach an egg: First, you wait until the farmer is asleep. Then, carrying along a small container of 3-in-1 oil, you dink the hinges of the gate leading to the chicken coop ...

Literally my favorite breakfast to have every morning
Thanks for helping me step up my egg game. I've never made or had a poached egg. Easy and delicious.
The strainer changed the game for me!! It works every time. I was just writing it to you and you demonstrated it! I should have known you knew!
The strainer hack has made my eggs immeasurably better. Thank you so much 😭💗
Thank you John for another yummy recipe 💛🙏✨🤗

I’ll try this for breakfast tomorrow, asparagus and all. You’ve given me the confidence boost I needed after the last disastrous attempt I made 😅
Thanks for the tips. I love eggs benedict!
Thank you for posting this video. I’ve been wanting to learn how to make this for a while now. And now I can say I did it on my second try. 👍
I just love watching you John! I’ve poached before but never tried the water vortex. Also, I’m going to make a real effort to use very fresh eggs, straight from the hen. ❤
Everything you made is goooood thank you sooooo much always bless with your family much appreciated

Thank you very much for your help and kindness. We've done are first pouched egg and it was amazing. 🎉. God bless EVERYONE 🇮🇪
Thanks so much!! Making my first poached egg right now 😁
Since learning to poach eggs, I generally have it for breakfast daily. It is a good reminder to have a time frame for the egg to cook. I don't usually vortex because I do two at a time, but it does look much better - using the vortex method, that is.
So informative! Thanks for the clear instructions. I’ll have to try making them! 😊👍🏻 Fabulous channel, by the way.
Loved your poached eggs experiment. I loved the last poached eggs ideas. Thank you for sharing. 😋😋😘😘🥰🥰.
Thank you! I tried the basic swirl version and it worked fine, since I had pretty fresh eggs. I'll try the strainer version too when I have less fresh eggs in the future!
I love your stove and pots just perfect 🤩
I have tried so hard to poach an egg for years and I’m just not talented enough!😢 my mom loves poached eggs so much so I try! This may help thank you!❤️
Thanks so much for this!!!! ❤
I love poached eggs!
I used to follow you religiously, then I had to go gluten free and stopped for awhile. BUT.... as I learned more and more about how to live and cook/bake gluten free, I have learned that I can adapt many regular recipes to accommodate my healthy requirements. Now I'm back to following you again and enjoying your recipes as I adapt them to being gluten free. This video was easy as making the egg needed no adjusting, I just need to put my egg on a gf piece of bread or english muffin. I am so happy to be back enjoying your videos!
I was taught all the methods you demonstrated. I find the sieve method to be the best by far.
Brilliant. Thanks John.
I needed this tutorial!❤️
Thankyou Sir, I will definitely try it ❤
I have been wanting to make ths type of egg! Thanks for posting how to!
Thank you for teaching me!!
Vortex swirl. I learned something. thanks.
Brilliant explanation very helpful lunch my was gorgeous thank you 😊
I do mine with little salt and vinigar i just love the taste
That's my favorite too. Some egg distributors consistently have larger and fresher eggs. I think it's worth the effort to experiment.
Good on you buddy, I have been poaching perfect eggs for over 40 years.
Thanks. You are the best!
Poached to perfection 😍
Thank you so much for your video did this for the first time and my egg came out great

First method is the best for sure.🎉
I like you guy. You srem humble and cool lol. Thanks for thr advice. Im currently attempting to poach an egg. Wish me luck 😅🤙🏼
That was cool! And thank you John. I'm one of those people who are scared that I can't do it. Thank you for the pep talk to have me try it.
Thanks, Jonathan! I love fresh eggs but have a very limited access to them, sadly. Thank you!
Not just a recipe, a how to!!
Thanks!🌟💕
This worked perfectly (the traditional way). Even my older eggs did great. My only mistake was spinning the water too fast. I had them with grits I made imitating part of your shrimp and grit video. Awesome.
I like this format of trying out multiple hacks, could be fun to do when you make simple recipes in the future
great techniques
thanks, it's helpful
Thank you for tips
You’re the best👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
John, most of us don't have chickens in the yard. That sieve trick works good.
First successful poached egg using your tips Thanks And first time I am thankful that I have an induction hob😂
My husband just loved poached eggs when he was living . I made them just like you with water and a little bit of vinegar.l
Amazing
My favourite egg type.
I could never eat a poached egg but I love your videos
How are you not 500lbs! Everything you make looks so freaking good!
love it
Good cooking 👍
Thank you for the poached egg hack comparisons! Do you have any videos on home-made nut butters?
Saw this from Jeffrey Zakarian take a coffee mug fill it halfway with water crack the egg in the mug with the water and microwave for 45 seconds to 55 seconds depending on how much you want it done. It comes out perfect every time it’s just that easy.
Yummy nice recipe. 🙂.
I love your cooking John. I am starting a cooking channel myself. I hope I do as well as you.
Interesting.

We eat a lot of eggs but very rarely poach them. gonna have to give this a try, looks fairly simple, at least he makes it seem that way
im going to have to buy a ladle 😍
Could you PLEASE create a video going over your copper pots/pans and how to find quality brands? Maybe a full series going over all kitchen tools that are your go tos? I'm revamping my kitchen and having a hard time figuring out where I should invest (why I'm hoping you could go over copper!). ❤
I make poached eggs in the shell. 4 minute boil and done. Perfect runny yolk and no loss of egg whites.
