Hi guys! For those of you who may be a little intimidated with making poached eggs at home, I hope today's tutorial will show you just how easy it is! You can store poached eggs for 4-5 days in the fridge (see more tips in the recipe post), so they're also great for meal prep! What's your favorite breakfast with poached eggs? xo - Lisa

I had never made a poached egg before (I'm 53). Today, I wanted one for breakfast on some avocado toast, so I brought up this video, watched it, and followed this with absolute precision. I made one for me and one for my wife, and she and I agreed that they came out absolutely perfectly. We were blown away. My first two poached eggs EVER were as perfect as anything I've ever had at a restaurant. Thanks for the great tutorial.

In my biotechnology classes, I had learned that a bit of salt helps protein dissolve in water; basically the protein becomes more "water friendly", hence dissolves easily. So this may explain why the albumin (egg white) goes out of wack in salt water; it is just finding it easier to interact with the water and hence can dissipate easier. However if you add the vinegar, the pH lowers and since proteins can only maintain their structure (in this case, the liquid nature of the albumin) in a VERY specific range of pH and temperature, the lowered pH along with the heat will help coagulate the albumin faster. THANKS A LOT FOR THIS VIDEO ma'am. Really helpful !

Put enough water to cover the egg, add a big splash of apple cider vinegar, boil medium to high, make sure the water bubbles over the top (i swirl it some to make sure my yolk is squishy, not firm). I just pour out the water while holding the egg in the pan w a spoon. Then slide it into the bowl. No probs but i've done it thousands of times.😊

🙂 Poached eggs on toast is my favourite weekend breakfast. But I use to find them a real pain to make. Took ages and often wouldn't work properly (broken, undercooked or overcooked) and it was difficult to get right. Nowadays, they come out absolutely perfect each time, as I have started to make them in my pie maker. I don't actually use it for pies anymore.....just poached eggs. I have a 4 pie maker. You lightly oil each hole, add a tablespoon of water, add an egg. Shut the lid and turn on for 3 minutes and 50 seconds, and hey presto.....perfect poached eggs. And if you oiled inside the press first, you simply wait for the machine to cool down, then wipe it down with a damp cloth.

Had no idea so many people were so "scared" of poaching an egg, it's actually very simple, I've been making them for almost decades at this point. I remember I once whipped one up for a friend and he was blown away that I could do it and that it was so good, said it was the best egg he'd ever eaten. He even told another friend about it later, "Dude she actually poached an egg, who does that? I've never seen anyone do that or eaten one outside of a restaurant, it was awesome"....lol so honored. But seriously, everyone should do it. Everyone should master all the egg cooking methods, eggs are the best. Try shakshuka sometime, it's amazing. And make it from scratch!

I went one at a time waiting for the initial outside set of the initial then subsequent additional eggs. I went to four. I know this will cause a difference in the “cookedness” in the eggs but not noticeable. I pulled the more set ones out first. Thanks for the video!

I remember my mother making poached eggs when I was under 10 years old. I vaguely remember her using a metal utensil that was shaped like a round spoon bowl with the egg in it. She used the steam of the boiling water to cook the egg in the spoon bowl turning it to a poached type egg. I wish I could get a hold of one of those utensils. It made awesome poached eggs. Maybe you might know what It was. Thanks for the lesson.

I have watched numerous videos on how to poach eggs and never had them come out good. I followed your instructions to the tee, and I finally made the perfect poached egg! Just like I would get in a restaurant. I was skeptical and only cooked 1 egg, but next time I'll cook 2. I think the tip with straining the egg white was key missing step. Thank you!!!!
