Finally the real way to make scones, I have watched 6 videos before I came to yours and you do them the way I was taught over 50 years ago. You can't beat the true old recipes. Thank you.

I see she didn't sieve the flour into the bowl or at least not on camera, are you meant to sieve it or does it not really matter?
@jlife9092
10 ай бұрын
@@Zoe-dr5ps You sieve the dry ingredients mainly if you live in an area of high humidity where powdery stuff tends to clump. All that stuff about 'aerating' or promote 'better mixing' through sieving is just negligible and probably invented by wannabe online bakers to sound clever.
You get a better rise if you place the scones together so they're just touching, rather than with spaces in between (it forces them to rise UP rather than up and out, and it results in soft sides rather than a crust all over).
I’ve been using your recipe for a long time now, I don’t use ANY other and today it dawned on me I have never once said thankyou! My husband adores them ❤ so once again thanks, this is truly the BEST recipe xx

Oh yh
I just made a fresh batch of scones using this recipe and it turned out simply amazing. I used butter instead of margarine and all purpose flour with baking powder to improvise for the self-raising flour which I didn't have at home and it still came out Just perfect. Great job @ Kind Kyttocks. Thanks for sharing. Love from Nigeria❤️

Hi, can you share how much baking powder you used for 1 recipe?
100% success for a non baker. People didn't believe they were my home made. Thank you brilliant, simple and easy to follow instructions.
I've now watched the whole video, this woman knows what she is doing when it comes to scones, trust me I've watched a LOT of scone videos and most are rubbish, however if I may be permitted to add this suggestion: add the egg to the milk then just save a bit for the brushing of the tops at the end, otherwise you are virtually wasting a whole egg

Love these tutorials with music that makes one want to dance! Hurray! Thank you for uploading!!
My partner and I are devotees of the cheese scone made with strong Cheddar. They are great for lunch, picnics and buffets. Just buttered or served with ham, sausage or anything you like. Love the video. Thank You.
Thank you so much for this recipe. We're my first scones ever and so delicious and easy. I just added some cranberries. They were so fluffy and not at all dry just perfect. Finally a video without long talking nonsense or women tugging at their hair in order to look good in the video.
normally i forward a lot when watching a video, but this one was so fascinating that i just couldn't...probably because of the epic touch the music gives it. ^^ can't wait to try out the recipe! thanks for including the measurements in gramme and litres. :)

How
Thank you so much, on my 1st try mine turned out perfect. I used one regular butter stick which in the US is about 113 g. Just some advise for those having trouble, if you prefer regular flour just weigh out 500 g or 1 lb then add 2 1/2 tsp of baking powder and a pinch of salt then you have self raising flour. if you are using frozen butter sticks like me just leave it near the stove to soften. lastly you can use regular sugar. Hope this helps someone out there. Again thank you "Learntobake".

Lovely, the music brillant, thank you
after 12 years i still come back to this recipe, so simple and the best
1st. Put 1 lb (500g) of self raising flour in a big bowl. 2nd. Add 2oz (50g) of caster sugar. 3rd Add 4oz (110g) of margarine and mix with (clean) finger tips until you have a light (full of air) breadcrumb texture. Wash your hands and get a wooden spoon. 4th Make a well in the middle (indentation) and add 1/2 pint (300ml) of milk and slowly fold in the milk from outside in until you have a ball of dough. 5th. lightly flour the surface and the dough and softly form the dough with you hands until you have the right thickness 2 inches (5cm) and cut out with floured cutter. 6th. Mix 1 egg with 2 table spoons of milk and brush the scones. 7th. Put in a pre-heated oven, middle shelf at 400 F/200°C or gas mark 6 for 12 minutes.

Benjamin Andrews Thk you I'll try it out they taste lovely with Butter in the pastry as Margarine is made of unhealthy Transfat, it's hardened Palmoil the industry said falsely that butter isn't healthy (but it isn't true just to sell their bad Margarine they made this up, the famous bakery shops in Germany, Demehl in Vienna who makes great cakes & bread all use butter for certain stuff u can use organic coconut oil! If you heat 🌻oil above 120 o cels u have Transfat I ate lovely scones in Bath in UK w. a walzer, was great they eat th. with butter jam or cream, cheddar 🧀 is also nice. ☺

Me and my children would make scones on the weekends it was just like that . Brilliant ... Bought back so many memories ....now they are all grown up and married and have there own children who make (nonnas scones ))) Nonna is grandmum in Italian .... thankyou ....
@MrLightPanda Try to get some spreadable butter - it's usually mixed with some buttermilk so it's softer. If you want to use just butter then make sure it is left out the fridge for a while so it is soft. You're problem is probably that the butter is too cold and so is not mixing well. Check you've got the weights correct too. Keep trying - i've been making scones every day for 25 years and they still go wrong sometimes!
love this demo works perfect everytime and taste just like my mums ty
Beautiful scones every time thank you
When I started out as a chef 1977 old Jenny a baker by trade made the greatest scones I have ever eaten these look as good as hers bless you Jenny
I love this and the Strauss in the back too 😊
I love it ... I made these yesterday... my family just loved it too... the music was lovely it went with the demo
Very simple to follow instructions. I tried it out and I must say that the scones turned out fantastic .
You are a master! Love the confidence of your hands!
loved the way you work with the dough - nice clean and not messy at all. and the music was fantastic :)
Wow! Lovely music with a superb chef! That was fantastic!
Absolutely perfect!
How we were taught at school . No baking powder . The best recipe on here by far . I always can taste baking powder in a scone and it’s spoiled for me .fizzes in my mouth. I’ve had the pleasure of having Kynd Kyttocks scones . By far the best . Homemade jam and butter .

*Love* the music. It's like watching a silent movie - well done! One tip - you can use a coarse hand grater on cold butter which makes it really easy to blend with the flour and sugar.
