How to Loosen a Stiff Neck in SECONDS
Dr. Rowe shows how to instantly loosen and relieve a stiff, achy neck.
This is especially good for people that can't bend, turn, or move their neck without sharp or severe pain (think waking up with a kink in the neck after sleeping badly).
To make it easy, the video will be broken up into different movements so you can quickly target the ones that you need the most.
All of the exercises can be done at home, require no special equipment, and may help relieve a stiff neck within 30 seconds.
Let us know which exercise worked best for you!

The one that works best for me is that I take both arms behind my neck with the wrists outside the pivotal bone and lift up and look up and wiggling my wrists just under the hard points of the skull and then rotate and wiggling my neck in the process of all this for decompression. Thanks for sharing all this important information and I am trying this right now 😀 👍

Good morning I have been watching your video i was involved in motor accident and 2rd cervical vertebrae was displacement and still in pain I can't turn neck and server neck pain can I still carry out this exercises
I finally figured out what a passive stretch is! Today was the day for me to get it. After watching and listening to you here, I began to understand what makes it passive is that the muscle is not moving on its own; it's being moved, by something else. Got it! :)
The "spoon treatment" that Dr. Rowe describing is actually an ancient treatment that the Vietnamese have been using for centuries, called "coining". It is one heck of a effective treatment to combat stiff neck or sore muscle or body ache. For better result, they use medicated oil such as tiger balm or any available topical cream to rub on the affected area, then use a quarter coin or spoon to scratch in the same downward fashion with a steady & comfortable force until the skin gets red. Notice how the skin gets darker when the pain is more severe. Be careful not to over scratch or the skin can break and bleed. This method would work best if followed with steaming therapy.

I've always known it as 'gua sha'... interesting!
I don't normally attempt work on my car at 75 years old and with neck osteoarthritis. This weekend I tried to fix something that required me to work in a really uncomfortable position under a wheel arch. After a month of following these exercises I had a go and managed to do the job. Am I pleased! Thank you Dr Rowe.
This is literally what my physioterapist taught me the last week. It works amazingly

U r right. I learned lymphatic massage and my sifu teach me these technique...as a volunteer health staff I used to help many people using these technique not only for their neck/ shoulder but for the whole body and there's a right way to do it. It's a great help to ease blocked lymph system so that our body toxin can be easily plushed out 🙏🏻
I am sore more places than not. Thank you for being the voice and teacher for relief!
Thank you! I'm still learning, but so far, so good. Your explanations are easy to follow, and your "cautions" are appreciated. I can't afford my chiropractor anymore. Plus, I moved 30 minutes farther away. Chronic stress from caring for elderly loved one with dementia plus related financial struggles mean neck, shoulder & upper back pain, knots, and pinched nerves. Sometimes I get a shooting pain or the pain is accompanied by nausea. I've been able to get some relief watching your videos and am sure with more time and practice, it'll get even better . Thank you for this valuable service you are providing.
Ohhh wow. Thank you Dr. Rowe. I have been in pain for the last couple days and getting worse. I jumped on You Tube and there you were. Life changing, simple techniques. Thank you soooo much

Thank you! Been having ocsssional but debilitating stiff neck that can come with migraines that lead to nausea for decades; as a working mom I can't always get to the chiropractor. This is a wonderful solution!
I've had neck pain on my right side for 18 months now I definitely will try these exercises thanks heaps

Hi doctor, I find this video very helpful. I am a 63 years of age female with plenty of problems around the spine and specifically in neck area where I had a double c-fusion (more problematic on the right side). I will try most of the stretches recommended by you and I’m almost certain that they will be useful to me. I may add to those one more additional move utilizing the spoon - that of slowly running it along the soles of the feet and may be over the problematic areas, where it hurts the most, in order to “demagnetize” the body. Thankfully yours: Savka
Can’t thank enough. These really helped a lot. Especially the towel method 👍🏼

Just wanted to say thank you for making this video. I woke up with a really bad neck spasm the other day and it had progressively gotten worse since. I’m pregnant so I obviously wanted to avoid any pain medication. I tried massaging it but it only helped for a second before the pain came back. I tried your spoon-technique today (but with a guasha instead) and for the first time in days I’m finally able to move around without pain. It’s still a little sore but not nearly as bad as when I woke up this morning. So thank you so much for posting this video. It’s a huge help.🙏🏻
Thank you so much, it hurted so much that i almost cried but it reduced the pain❤
Bless you. I feel so much better now.
After being in severe pain for almost two weeks, I came across and followed Dr Rowe's "spoon massage technique" to the back of the neck (from another previous video)....it helped out and I was pain free within a few days. Thank You... Love from South Africa

Oh my gosh 😢❤ I suffer with chronic migraines (caused by neck and back issues). After a particularly bad night of sleep, my neck had been frozen for 3 days. Im CONSTANTLY trying things to help with the pain. Electric massagers, ice/heat packs, hot baths, medicine, you name it. This workout released it!!! AND the headache that came with it. I literally was so relieved I cried. Thank you so much for providing this information, it will help so many people ❤❤
Fantastic. What a relief. I wish I knew the causes. Obviously these are postural pains. I think mine more is caused by the way I sleep more so than by sitting at the computer for long hours which is another factor. A change in lifestyle is the way to go.

I have had upper back and neck pain for 35 years, but am always learning new techniques to manage it. The trick with using a towel (11.30) is really clever thankyou! - this means I can now sometimes adjust my neck when it's jammed whereas stretching laterally without the towel wouldn't quite get it to release. Great tip thankyou!
