Great video, thanks for posting it. Lots of key tips to those (like me) developing their strongman overhead options.
Looked to me like an easy one to learn, love Push Press so jumped straight in. I'm really struggling to get that second dip, still early days, every now and then I hit it right and the weight flies up. Brilliant tutorial, I keep coming back to it, thanks.
A power jerk invlves moving the feet (whether its a off the ground, or both of the ground and to the side, not sure), while a push jerk is like a no foot movement, where your toes remain in contacting the extension. Good stuff Alan

Probably tight triceps. I like to use a table and a lacrosse ball to roll out my triceps in the evening. Or right before you lift, you can put the bar at chest rack height, put your triceps on top of the bar with your elbows flexed, and “smoosh” the triceps. It can be very helpful.
Does this technique work better with a wider or narrower stance?
Everyone’s complaining about the voiceover. I actually prefer a calm clear voice to loud echoey yelling like some KZreadrs. I am a big fan of Olympic weightlifting. I’m not sure I would show the split jerk in here without an explanation, however. Otherwise, big fan of the push press and push jerk. Great upper body overload while also hitting the calves and abs hard!

However, if the jerk can serve you a purpose outside of hypertrophy, perform the jerk at the beginning of a session because the jerk is a power/ballistic movement, so one should do them when one’s the freshest

Add jerks to your cleans or upper body. You can start with strict press then push press then jerk. It is basically an upper body overload exercise, as you can jerk much more than you can push press or strict press. Therefore, it can help build both strength and hypertrophy. It’s almost like doing pin presses from like forehead height but you also get the leg exercise. Heavy jerks are a great calf exercise! There is a lot of core too because you are catching in a partial squat.

It is a lift and is performed with total body effort to complete a task. It has nothing to do with bodybuilding. It is a strength move. But you can train a few reps at start of a workout to get good warm up, neural activation, etc. Probably shoulders day and leg day seem more logical to include these as starter.

How do you know when jerks are allowed in a strongman competition? You see “log press” all the time and competitors seem to do any variation of pressing, push pressing, and jerking, but I never see it clearly stated what is and isnt allowed

Usually there is a short brief before the events where all competitors get the rules explained and can ask questions.

You can't, all the muscle and excess fat on you restricts your arms movement, plus strongmen aren't fast at all, making it physically impossible to jerk like a strongman

Have you seen any weightlifting competition??? Olympics? Powerlifting meets?? Do any of the podium guys look like they're doing perfect, textbook form? No, because you have to sacrifice form to lift more weight, which is the ultimate goal of any competitive weightlifting sport. Form is overrated, unless you are pushing yourself within safe and rational limits to not get injured it's ok for your form to not look perfect.
