    Is it allowed in strongman to catch the weight with a jerk or split jerk? Or is it forbidden to double-dip?

    So glad to see someone impressive leave out the hip movement in the overhead press. It's preached in the 3rd edition of SS and just adds more complication to the movement if you ask me. Yes it probably makes for more efficiency but at the cost of really intimidating beginners like me which is what you don't want to do.

    The thumb on the knurling line to establish grip might have been the best advice I have ever heard. Before I was struggling with Barbell thrusters at 95lbs. But with this adjustment I was able to do 135lbs like nothing. My form feels beautiful now lol. I’m going to try this grip for deadlifts too.

    I have poor elbow flexion due to previous injuries, scar tissue, etc, meaning that I can't come close to touching my left shoulder with my left hand and same on the right side. This leads to me needing a very wide grip for cleans and jerks which makes them very difficult. Is there any advice you would give for this situation? My shoulder external rotation is actually pretty good, but I have to grip only about 2 or 3 inches from my snatch grip. Thanks!

    In the push press are you holding the bar like a strict overhead press with the weight supported in your hands, or like a jerk with the weight resting on your shoulders?

  • @wudhrbjudhsbn
    @wudhrbjudhsbn6 жыл бұрын

    Whats peoples opinion on starting the push press in the rack position (i.e. same as jerk)? I notice some people tend to recommend it while others suggest the overhead press position.

  • @luvmyweim85
    @luvmyweim856 жыл бұрын

    I was taking note of your back leg when doing the split jerk. My coaches in CF are cuing me to bend my back leg but that does not feel right. Is the rear leg supposed to be bent? I would feel confident in my jerk if it was not for that one cue.

    Coach Joe, Ive been dealing with bad shoulders for awhile now.but everytime I watch your weightlifting videos I get this super urge that I wanna try these lifts. should I stick with the strict overhead press. or should I just go for it and try some split jerks and snatches ???

  • @SzatStrength

    @SzatStrength

    6 жыл бұрын

    Joseph Hockensmith hey brother, I would try the push press and then maybe try the push jerk. You can do it as a main mover or accessory work. I wouldn't just hop right into the snatch I would make sure you have a coach or get some lessons on it before attempting so you don't hurt yourself. The snatch is by far the most complex and technical lift in all the lands of lifting lol.

  • @nickfleming3719

    I feel like the first 2 are shoulder workouts but for the last 2, the majority of the power is coming from legs and core, not much from shoulders besides stabilizing the weight at the top

    How do i press with the wrists bent like that?

  • @thohangst
    @thohangst Жыл бұрын

    So the push press does not have the second leg bending element as one would do for a jerk to get under it and essentially un-squat it back to the top. Alan sold me on the push press in a recent video so that's what I'm about at the moment.
