My grandmother is filipino chinese and her father came from China. The important value instilled on us is saving money. Don't spend more than what you earn. It's important to have multiple sources of income. Passive income is essential to increase your quality of life rather than living paycheck to paycheck. Building a startup earlier is good for retirement plan.

Simple - they're (Chinoy) wise with their spending, they are rather thrifty than your average Filipino. They're also business oriented, it doesn't matter to them if they have a small one or a big one. To them having a small business have a potential to be a big one. Unlike the non-Chinese, they are more happy to seek employment than establish their own business. Hardly anyone want to risk a capital then fail. The Chinoys on the otherhand is the opposite.

The first and second wave of Chinese migration assimilate completely with the local Austronesian population that most Filipinos today may at least have one Chinese grandparents in the past. From National hero, presidents, to Barangay captains there’s a lot of Filipinos with Chinese ancestry. My surname is literally Chinese origin but I’m full Filipino. I don’t even know any Chinese in my family, maybe my grand grand grand grand father is Chinese lol.

I have no problem with Chinese Filipinos who became rich. They worked hard for it. We even have Presidents , Senators, Congressmen and government officials who have Chinese ancestry. Philippines has not experienced any racial riots and Chinese assimilation with Locals is high. There are a number of Chinese schools in the country and Filipinos are accepted in these schools. I have 1st cousins who graduated from Chinese schools and we are not Chinese.

If u were in their shoes... would u do it for free too? In a logical perspective, I dont think its worth the effort if they gain no profit to themselves... its like being asked to donate a large sum of money or your own phone to random strangers or working very hard only to get minimum expenses or nothing... i mean the government can do it since its their actual job to improve the country, but u should also remember that these billionaires are private citizens with the right to their assets just like us. Even if theyre rich, it doesnt entitle anyone to a share of their money nor entitle people to demand they give money to the poor. (Even if you say that they get these things through not paying taxes, what makes us think that they really do and that others dont do so as well? The poor and the middle class arent as blameless compared to the rich too you know) However, it doesnt really get rid of the idea that they could also donate, but i know that these billionaires usually have some sort of charity funded in their name that helps people. They cant invest most or a really large portion of money cause i mean, this isnt the government where they suck the 32% of all incomes as tax money which is all intended to be used in improving the country. (and claim to know nothing to where it goes) For me i think the problem of this inequality isnt about the rich abusing their power but rather the mindset of the poor. When they say “once born poor, die poor”, i have heard of cases like that but right now its slowly changing in the country. The Chinese in Philippines are now mostly Filipino citizens and part of society. A law requiring ethnic Chinese to share their business with others will be unconstitutional.

I'm a Filipino-Chinese, but maybe these are three main reasons why Chinese Filipinos are the wealthiest in the nation. 1. Connections Filchis have a very "malawak" social circle, You could observe how your filchi classmates at college seem like they know everyone from other Chinese schools. These connections are crucial in Business. 2. Business Oriented Filchis are very business oriented and their career usually revolves around either Entrepreneurship or continuing their parent's business. That's why back at school people don't ask what's your parent's job, rather what's your parent's business. 3. Work Ethics Filipino Chinese Schools have a very competitive environment, They also learn how to cope up with speaking 3-4 languages to one another (Tagalog, English, Mandarin and Hokkien) that's why at National Interscholastic competitions it is usually dominated by the top 5 largest Chinese schools in Manila (Xavier, ICA, Chiang kai shek, St jude, Grace)

Salute to the Filipino Chinese. They have thrive well. Just need to do more for the society, creating jobs to lessen the Gini coefficient. Should build more hospitals and offer very low cost treatments for the poor. In this way, people would appreciate them.

Filipinos have many skills , nursing, medicine, engineering, mass communication because they believe that education is a way out of poverty. The Philippines earns 30 billion dollars from call centers because of their talents and skills. These Chinese Filipino conglomerate /billionaires/owners like in many other parts of the world DO NOT PAY Taxes like ordinary Filipinos do. They plow all their earnings back into the business. It would be nice if hundreds of billions of pesos are collected and plowed into massive vertical housing that Filipinos need. Japan, Singapore have done that and it stabilized their society. Let there be ethnically diverse Filipinos to dream a country where wealth is shared through decent housing, excellent public education, excellent infrastructures that address sewage and garbage disposal. When I visit the Philippines, I see two countries. One for the poor and one for the rich. The poor do not complain. The rich don’t care.

But if you are talking about America, Chinese lose out to Indians which is just 1 example.
