You missed the very important point of why India was left poor. It is because Britain looted India for 250 years, destroyed the local economy to it's roots, broke the traditional education system which was much more advanced than any other country. Books burnt down, temples destroyed, people were treated as slaves. They did everything to reduce it to ashes, but what they don't know is we are like Phoenix which can rise from ashes. Some people say Brits left long back, yet India is still poor, the reason is, it is broken in all ways to such an extent that it really need lot of time to rebuild from scratch.

Being an Indian I have a very strong feeling that whenever we talk about Indians/Indian history/Indian economy & developing programs, we always blame British & our political leadership but never blame ourselves that we are responsible for it directly. British came in power because few people wants always on the throne and allowed rest of Indian to be slaves then politicians wanted always in power and make slave again rest of Indians. Look at us in the 21st century we r still voting 🗳 in the name of caste creed and ironically those old government still wants us to vote for them.

First of all you are not an Indian and if you are really Indian then, you should know what was happened to us back in the 19th and 20th century. You people don't know how much India was looted during british colonial time. There was a serious study regarding this and it was found that around 45trillion dollar were looted by those thief's. Today, India has 4th largest military in the world, first nation to land successfully on south pole of the moon [Even thief britisher's are not able to launch a satelite in space poor BRITISHER's ] , when britisher's were threw out of the nation India's literacy rate was 7% but in just 7 decades, now it's 73% literacy rate in India with world's largest democracy and still India is developing nation, after thief's empire was kicked off from the India we were not able to feed our population but now India is self-sufficient[ because of green revolution in India] that even India export's it's rice to other poor countries and India is one the largest exporter of wheat, rice etc. and there are various best thing about India that today India is able to become one of the fastest growing economy in the world.

Also india doesn't have rich country in it's neibourhood like China had to invest money and to trade with. India and China have a lot in common. Both are large countries with large populations; both are old countries with splendid cultures; both used to be affected by western invasion; both used to be very poor and have a lot of people to feed. How could we, a vast, resource rich, diverse, and relatively large literate and educated population, be so backward compared to our contemporaries in asia like China or japan? We didnt even have any major conflicts on our soil, or any major civil war, or have our cities flattened or anything like that. It is quite clear that despite many of our initial advantages, our leadership has squandered it. Though kudos to uploading this on independence day, this is a good wake up call for all of us.

But just like China India was united 5 times and again split up into majority local Kingdoms infact when British were on it's soil 3/4th of India was under single maratha empire who first gave slogan of one India. And British never united India they left India with 570+ provinces as each own autonomous country giving them choice to be independent but it's our first home minister sardar Patel after independence used military force and united entire country and for that very reason you find world's biggest statue dedicated to him.

Country, vast as India there is no chance disctatoship can thrive. You can see modi, he's one dictator.. I know I know, we are democrat country, I know that. But it's more likely dictatorship and you can clearly see it, even after having a dictator.. it's so difficult to handle so many people with so many different thought process.

There's also an important but inconvenience aspect of this problem: working culture. I've been to India several times, and I've noticed that the quality of their services are very low and the workers seem less disciplined than other countries. It's like the opposite of Japan.

Did you miss the part when that was their way of getting rid of the oppressors? Probably took a couple of generations, so no wonder these people are not highly motivated. It's gonna sound cruel, but I think you got away easy with the nukes ending WWII, at least the world felt like you needed support to plant your feet again. India was left to slowly wither like a dumpster robbed of any valuable things already.

@@sreenidhikrishnan8332 breathe. To so overidentify who you are with where you were born (which you had no say in, no control over)...and to try to link to any of its success, math or science...as if it means anything about you, is an ego grab. For sure. To get stuck on thinking your country is the best, simply because you live (d) there...is immature at best. It lacks awareness, and a true big picture view. None of us is special, due to where we were born. That’s a fallacy, an ego game. We cling to things like that, in order to feel significant. You’re human. It really shouldn’t increase or decrease your value, depending on where you came from. Now...on to the claim that “India is the country that has contributed the most to the field of math and science”. First, there is not one solitary “field” of math and science!! There are various fields, so many different disciplines in the FIELDS of math and science. Next, that’s a preposterous claim. While India has indeed contributed to various disciplines within the fields of math and science...to claim its the country that has contributed most, is myopic and obtuse. Many countries have contributed. The wisest among those in specialities collaborate with others to expand upon and increase their knowledge and skill. Many countries have incredible contributions, which have been the building blocks for others (often from other countries) to further disciplines along. No man is an island. Rare is the country untouched by influence of others. It’s like a multidimensional, multifaceted web of connections. To make such an arrogant/ignorant claim...is to be childlike and trying to make things simple in order to make sense of complex things. Your paradigm is informed by deep biases and narratives...with ego at the center. I challenge you to challenge your conditioned thinking...examine who you are (you aren’t your country...but merely a human, a spiritual being, who is grasping to limiting concepts). Reach beyond the self sabotaging thinking.
