    Great job explaining how the financial status of the country is going. As long as there's no corruption and there's transparency on how the funds are utilized the country will have a good future.

    Debt is not bad, every country and every person use debt to gain properties they cannot pay cash but can pay in installments with interests attached! Loan to buy a house, a car, go to college/ university, start a business and expand a business, build and repair infrastructure! Without debt life will be more difficult. As you have said Debt is used to leverage growth!!!!!

    Well, find out from the Chinese, Indians, Westerners and Arabs/Middle Easterners who have been and still are the 4 Greatest Civilisations. Who rules Most Parts of Southeast Asia? Not Native People who are Hardly Rich as Most are Poor, Low-Income and Lower-Middle Income People. Chinese, Westerners including Spanish, in some cases Indians. The ones who lends money in Philippines are Indians. The richest people in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines etc are Chinese with strong links back to China. Spanish and other Westerners too many are rich in Southeast Asia (ASEAN Nations) where many have strong links back to the Western Nations. What backgrounds do the CEOs of Alphabet that owns Google that owns KZread, Adobe, Twitter, Microsoft, etc have? All these Tech Firms, their CEOs have Indian Backgrounds where Most are Foreign Citizens though not Indian Citizens as India, China and Many Asian Countries Don't Allow Dual Citizenship. But they all have Indian Backgrounds with Strong Links back to India. Twitter is on its way to being owned by Elon Musk as that transaction is still on. Elon Musk is the World's Richest Man whose father is South African while he has Both American and Canadian Citizenship. Who is the Vice-President of USA/America? She's Kamala Harris who has Both African and Indian Backgrounds. Who could be the Next Prime Minister of UK? Can find out in few hours maybe. Most likely Rishi Sunak who has Both African and Indian Backgrounds. Who is the CEO of Chanel, 1 of the World's Leading Luxury Fashion Firm? She has an Indian Background. Who was the CEO of Pepsi? She's the Mentor of the CEO of Chanel who also has an Indian Background. And it goes on where Indian People have been dominating the Western Societies in last few decades while Chinese People have been dominating the Southeast Asian Societies. Chinese are amongst the Next Best within the Western Societies while in Southeast Asia, Indians and Westerners including Spanish are doing well within Philippines, Singapore, Malaysia and so on. Are Arabs/Middle Easterners behind? Nope. Arabs/Middle Easterners too are doing well in many Western nations, Southeast Asia where many are Wealthy. When look at Cultures of Food, Clothing, Music, Languages, Other Arts, Architecture and Design, Engineering and Technologies, Customs, Values, Beliefs, etc, Most of it will come through Influences via Western or Indian or Chinese or Middle Eastern/Arabs. FOR EXAMPLE, Taking Philippines Alone, Philippines was a Region of Chiefdoms/Polities which had Folk Religions (Animism) Alone where the Oldest Filipinos are Pacific Islanders as well as People who came from Taiwan who were Trading with China, Indian Subcontinent and Japan. By 900 AD At Least, could be even before as Spanish Destroyed Most of Filipino History - Hinduism and Buddhism existed in Philippines because Indian Kingdoms Ruled Parts of Sri Lanka, Central Asia, Myanmar, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Cambodia, Laos, Philippines, etc. Philippines it was through the Polities of Cebu, Manila, Tondo, Butuan and others. The Word Rajah is an Indian Word. Many Tagalog and Bisaya Words come from 2 Indian Languages of Sanskrit and Tamil. By around 14th to 15th Century, Islam came to Philippines followed by the Spanish in 1521 followed by the Americans in 1890s. Today, as written just few sentences above, many Tagalog and Bisaya Words come from 2 Indian Languages of Sanskrit and Tamil which includes the Word Rajah. Yoga comes from India. Much of the Filipino Entertainment comes from America and South Korea, American mostly. Many of Filipino Books are written in the Western Language of English. Christianity that includes (1) Catholicism of Roman Catholics and Latin Catholics as well as Other Catholics, (2) Protestantism that includes Born Again Christians as well as Pentecostals Evangelicals and Other Protestant Christians, (3) Orthodox Christians and (4) Oriental Christians - All Started in the Middle East/Arab World. Most of the World's Religions are from India (Hinduism, Buddhism, Sikhism, Jainism) as well as Middle East/Arab World of Judaism, Zoroastrianism, Islam and Christianity. The Oldest Christians are the Eastern Christians from the Middle East followed then by the Western Christians that was spread through the Roman Empire around Western Europe. Eastern Christianity had spread from Middle East to India by AD 52 where Churches were established by 2nd to 3rd Century AD. Eastern Europe of Russia and Old USSR Empire had Eastern Christianity that was again spread from Middle East via the Roman Empire. Clothing-a lot of it comes from Western culture within Philippines as Not Much of Traditional Clothing is Promoted Too unlike Other Asian Countries of China, Japan, South Korea, Middle East/Arab World etc as also unlike Traditional Clothing of West which still exists in Europe and so on. Food - same - a lot of it is from West or Other Asian Cultures. Filipino Food aren't really popular unless Junk Food or from Western Cuisines or other Asian Cuisines. And it goes on where a lot of Cultural Aspects including Design and Architecture, Engineering and Technologies and so on comes from Middle East/Arab World, Chinese, Indian, Western. In Ancient Times, the 2 Dominant Societies were the Chinese and Indian Subcontinent during BOTH BC and AD Times. China, India, Arabs/Middle Easterners that includes African Nations like Egypt as well as Mesopotamia (Western Asia) were Trading Loads with Rest of the World especially Huge Trade Going on within Asian and African Regions that included Southeast Asia (ASEAN Region) including Philippines. Central/South America too weren't far behind though the 2 Dominant Regions in BC and AD Times were China and Indian Subcontinent followed by Arabs/Middle East. During the Last Few Centuries of the BC PERIOD came the GREEK EMPIRE that followed a lot of their Philosophical Thinking from Egypt and Mesopotamia. The Roman Empire followed that during the 1st Few Centuries of AD PERIOD. For about 1000 to 1500 Years, the EUROPEANS lost power once again to the Chinese, Indians and Arabs/Middle Easterners before they came back 1st by knocking out Philippines in 1521 though the Westerners never conquered Thailand where their ruler had agreements with them not to be conquered. Once again, ASIAN POWER IS BACK with CHINESE, INDIANS and MAYBE EVEN ARABS/MIDDLE EASTERNERS though this time NOT JUST WITHIN THEIR REGIONS though CHINA is CURRENTLY is the STRONGEST of THOSE 3 (WESTERNERS aren't out of it though challenged by Asians again - they are part of the 4 GREATEST CIVILISATIONS) while MOST NATIVES WORLDWIDE FOLLOW THE CULTURAL ASPECTS of THESE 4 CIVILISATIONS IN THEIR LIVES MOSTLY

    Back on track in inflation. More robberies happening. You must be a crony for saying that Duterte and Marcos put the Philippines back on track. You must be living in a private subdivision and paid by the government to say all this. Most poor communities are now denouncing Marcos and Duterte. Time will tell and people and will be back protesting for higher income wages and lower product prices. Just like in the '70s when Marcos tried to shush the people who were complaining about low wage. That was the real start of Martial Law because he couldn't contain the people's outcry for higher income and wage. “Those that fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it.” And here we are with government asking for confidential funds back in track for corruption.

The 1997 Asian Crisis made private financial managers move on the conservative side. Same with Indonesia and Thailand. When the 2008 and 2018 financial limbo erupted round the world, SEA fared better than than the rest.

It will be interesting to see what the last 2 1/2 years+ of lockdowns, travel restrictions, and economic disaster will do to these numbers as data becomes available. Tourism $$$ is a big part of the economy and has been nonexistent for most of 3 years and they will miss out on another "high season" as they are just now opening up to travel.

    @jonathanjayfrancisco8534

    Hi, I'm not an expert but 62% Debt-GDP Ratio is the total debt (domestic + foreign) over the GDP. Domestic debt includes the fund from BSP, state-owned bank (Land Bank, DBP, etc) and maybe private banks borrowed by Gov't or Private sector interchangeably. BA is only concerned in explaining about the foreign debt since Filipinos had a trauma of foreign debt since 70's. As said in the video, handling of foreign debt is the issue but we have transparency as where is it used nowadays. Hope I answered your question.

    Also, in housing sector, the Filipino citizens in general (or majority are still) shy away from getting their own house and lot thru loans so it really is very low when it comes to that. Most domestic loans are coming into the business/small business sectors. This is worth noting because housing loans are very much the major driver of domestic loans in most countries which also suggests a healthy figure.

Do 50/50 government and private equity partnership that would reap rewards first the government for more economic expansions while private equity will eventually get their money in a long-term contract with substantial interests ( % long term earnings or a stake on a project and/or incentives. ) If defaulted on the debt Government has to have a coffers through bonds that would payoff its debt - Reserve Fund. This would lure more foreign investors long term.

    There is enough capital held by Philippine investors. While foreign debt if utilized well can still contribute to the development of the country, the volatility of foreign exchange vis-a-vis the US dollar presents a greater risk to the servicing of foreign debt. I think this is a very generalized view. The effects of the external debt have been different from time to time. In this case, the external debt during the 1970s was far higher than its predecessors, it slowed a bit in the 90s but it was still growing. The Asian Financial Crisis then suddenly added a lot more debt as can be seen in the data post-90s. However, the ratio started to dip down as austerity measures were in place. The biggest reason why external debt dipped down was entirely because every successive government post-Marcos has been implementing an economic policy of austerity above all else. Its only now with the recent government that a policy of building took place as such debt is starting to mount up again especially with Covid-19

    but the GDP at that time is also way lower compared to the present GDP. you cant justify external debt being lower before than now if its literally 70% of your GDP

    External debt is different from the national debt. The national debt of the Philippines is over 12 TRILLION.
