To strengthen my ice hut 7×7 "Woods" Ice Hut I use a Painters Pole- Adjustable, Works Fantastic !! - drill a new hole(sliding shaft) if the holes don't line up OR a piece of Wood. LOL'S Stay Safe Every1 🇨🇦

Not crazy at all, but a great idea for sure! If you set this up in a high traffic area it hides your tent from other travelers that might have slippery fingers if you know what I mean. A great place to relax for sure Chuck.

Great video! Two weeks ago here in Iowa we had near record low temps and 20 inches of snow in 3 days. My boys (8 and 4) were outside making their own igloo. Now we are getting 40 degree temps and rain. We love your videos. Thank you for sharing.

Try heating with a couple of Crisco Candles, or maybe even Sterno with clay pots.

Its almost like a quince - your stove is a vent and I think this would work quite well. We used to make these when we were scouts! Get candle or two.They will save your life!!

Hello friend. I can see in this video that you involuntarily return to similar games of mine from scouting in the years of my early youth. Also during winter camping we sprinkled the tents with snow to make it warmer or stubbornly built a real igloo of ice and spent the night there. I envy you this winter because in Poland, in my region, I can now see snow in pictures. It is the end of January 26.01.24a outside temperatures of +13 - +11. Much health for you and the dogs.

I think you actually could use your wood stove to heat. Leave the door open for vent. Your tent is insulated and snow gives you another insulation barrier against the cold. Wouldn't take meat as much to heat the tent with having the snow around. Condensation would be the hardest part to control.

Hey Chuck! You'd likely be able to light the wood stove. The heat would melt the snow immediately against the tent but would freeze to a hardened shell I would think. May even make the whole thing stronger. A piece of 4inch pipe shoved in through the entrance would give you air. Sorry, I know it's your experiment but man oh man you have my brain working. Lol. Have a good one.

Poke breather holes out where the windows are. An inch to an two inch stick. Several hole each window. Providing those clear pieces come off. 😊

That was fun! A Trangia alcohol stove would both heat your tentgloo and cook meals without producing carbon monoxide. A catalytic heater would provide heat as well and only consume oxygen. Would need to start outside the tent first though. I have a vintage Coleman catalytic heater that attaches to a propane camp cylinder. Throws alot of heat. My main concern would be the windows caving in with just velcro holding them shut. Interestingly, the Inuit always built the entrances lower than the inside to trap the colder air. Thats why the seal oil lamps were able to heat the igloo enough to survive. Staying tuned for next episode for sure. In any case it will be a 2 dog night if all works out😊.

No doubt you will figure it out Chuck! Always a pleasure tuning in to see your ingenuity. One unrelated thought has to do with avoiding a roof climb to clear snow from your solar panels. You could attach a brush (or row of bristles) to the opposite side of your roof snow rake. You could then just flip the rake and brush the panels providing you can reach them. I do this with my telescopic rake to clean off my satellite dish when it fills with snow as my roof is too steep to climb. Cheers to ya!

Awesome Video Chuck, definitely an interesting video and it was funny because the moment you said as you were crawling in or out the tent, "I hope you guys appreciate the angles" I was just saying to the missus , man he's doing a lot of going in and out to get all the in and out angles. I'm thinking a bluetti with a small portable heater might work as an heat source , but not sure if it would cause melting snow and tentbto ice up ? Sounds like you had the wheels turning lol. Could you put a buddy heater inside the woodstove? or just a bunch of candles? That way combustion stuff, water, carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide would escabe through chimney and if run gentle the snow should be ok.

Chuck, I was wondering if you could construct a tripod that would support yer roof at its apex & also support the other 2 bulging sides with 2 of the remaining legs ? I don’t know the configuration of yer Eskimo ice tent & don’t know if a tripod would be practical. If it would work, it would also free up space in the center of yer tent. Just an idea. Entirely possible. I find that when you originally put your snow pole in, it always seem to be in the way. However, after a little bit, you tend to “automatically “ manoeuvre around it

Hi Chuck, maybe you've already been asked this question. I was wondering why you don't cover the ski doo's? I know it wasn't a thing when I grew up down home. Guess I've been away too long. I cover my skidoo now. To be honest I wouldn't cover it anymore if I was promised snow. Raining here...😔

Good day. We get asked that question a fair bit. Covering up a skidoo would be extremely time consuming, given the fact we use them at minimum 6 months per year. And use them every day usually. So, to look at the nights, that would be about 180-200 times a year they would need to be covered/ uncovered. Also consider they are built for the snow, and to withstand snow load. I often say to people, if I was going to cover something, it would be my car! lol. A final thing is, when you do cover them, often times the cover freezes to the machine, and then when you uncover them, it may actually ruin the decals, or even worse, rip off a button (such as a kill switch, helmet power source, etc).
