OK the most amazing thing happened at 15:30. The opponent was like ok I'm completely dead but time for some fancy micro. He sees the cyclone attacking and picks up his tank to dodge the shot, only to find out the medivac he was picking up with was the the target of the lock on. An instant after picking up, the second shot connects and kills the medivac with the tank inside. Not really that consequential but absolutely heartbreaking for the guy microing his sweet little heart out

holy shit i didnt even notice that, he shifted his focus back to his forces so quick after, i thought the tank was still there in the base, or atleast retreating on the other medivac, but he actually finshed off that small force with that double kill.

I saw that, pro players always target medivacs, as soon as Marc said he will kill the medivac, I saw they pick up the tank to lose both units

Medivacs (just like SCVs) aren't attacking units and should be allowed. They let you do more with the challenge units of choice! Stay strong Mr M.

Beastyqt used to do a lot of weird challenges and one of his tricks as a late-game terran was use excess energy from his orbitals to drop mules on his opponents, either to take minerals from their patches to cause attrition, or to get enemy tanks to friendly-fire. Eventually he got to the point where he would throw mules to get the opponent to unseige, then attack while the tanks were down. It's a niche trick for sure, but absolutely hilarious and could give you an edge in a few of those really close games.

It's a very wholesome experience when you watch thermi pass through your MMR range and flatten a bunch of people you regularly play on ladder :D

I think the first player you played against canceled his third hatch, accidentally, based on the mini map

If I remember correctly Ketroc matches the creep spread of Zerg with his own Widow Mine spread. Confident Zergs that feel that they own map control because of creep will suddenly find their units being blasted in their territory. Of course they can build Overseers, but at that point their rhythm is skewed if not off. He does follow it up with Raven build up and Hellbat spam, which is unavailable in this challenge, but you could definitely pull something off with it.

Game 2 was amazing, I loved your description of the tank push, it reminded me of like a chess GM analyzing a top engine line like "yup yup this all theory, you sacrifice this piece and then move forward"

I think the reason that the first zerg quit was because of your marine micro and nearly one minute of supply block. I mean that guy used nearly 10 zerglings and couldn't even finish off a red hp marine. He was out classed pretty heavily and it was showing.

At 14:40 - just march the mines up the ramp! They're robots, they don't have families!

Im really loving the music in the background, feels very good having something to listen to when you focus on your game for a short time.

Cyclone/Widow Mines is ridiculously great fun. I appreciate the Ghosts and Raven/Hellion challenges but they just don’t compare to how quickly you can start harassing your opponents.

So many 4gaters will be destroyed by this challenge. Worth watching just for that lol

several suggestions for challenges:- 1. Dark Templar only to GM (I think this would just help grow your channel like the ghost only challenge) 2. Reaper only to GM (same as above for channel growth I just think this would get numbers) 3. Ghost Mech (I think this is something that allows you freedom, a little ghost revenge and something maybe you could push to the 6K+ mmr range, different from your challenges but still hard mech into protoss not easy) 4. random 1/1/1 units to GM... find a way to separate the barracks, the factory and star port units on a randomizer on queue generate the unit names and on the fly try to make that work as an army composition.... (this challenge is just cos its not been done and it would truly push your spontaneity cos good luck with a build order or strats) - Maybe exclude medivacs as something you can optionally build to try tie the random units together.

Really excited for the new challenges! I loved the ghosts and raven hellion, but those really do last a long time. Time for some fresh gameplay

I remember Beasty QT do the mass mines... well get some popcorn, this is gonna be EPIC...

I have to be honest, I originally loved the thought of this combo and imagined some incredible moments - but after seeing the trouble that Diamonds gave, I think this challenge may be a bit much even for someone as amazing as uThermal. I hope I'm wrong and this does as well as the previous challenges.

IIRC He had similar issues with Ghost and Mass Raven/Hellion. He just needs time to figure out his build orders and strats.

I always wondered about a weird play (non pro) where a zerg puts a queen in a dropolord and starts dropping it around opponent base, where he would expand - start dropping creep, place tumors and repeat in another spot. Maybe even do a drop in main - to annoy with creep. potentially waste scans or distract. The Brenda maneuver ;)

I found your channel, and have been enjoying a bunch of the series tbh, I have an extra layer of fun because I played starcraft for the story, I suck at the game. Eventually a friend of mine got the game, and we did duos against the ai to prep and learn for actual games. We got stuck a lot, both have shit micro and very ltitle knowledge, but it was fun adapting when we got stuck, like learning how builds worked and how to synergize our builds, trying one person doing an early rush to throw off the ai and the other being greedier, and a bunch of weird (not very good) but quite fun stuff this is like that but 17 levels above us, fun to watch, and I appreciate you still managing to talk about what you are doing and why, its cool to see

on that third game for the buildorder: you had some gas to spare when you were missing some minerals for the depot. maybe you could pull an scv out of gas at some point and be on time with the minerals. not sure how it would work out with the gas you need later on, though.

This challenge is great, I recently discovered you for the terran v 7ai and these challenge videos you do are def top tier starcraft 2 content. Can't wait for episode #3!

Transformers Tag Team to GM Challenge - only units with multiple modes (hellion, tank, viking, thor), but no more than 2 types at the same time (say you have hellion + tank and want vikings, you need to get rid of either hellions or tanks first). And if you want an additional challenge: you can only tag one unit out as long as you kill the last full HP one yourself (so as not to just suicide them all into the enemy). Or if that's too complicated, just pick 2 at the start of the game and that's all you get all game.

Or maybe pair the zealot with something else, but in a way that the zealots still are the core of the challenge, much like the marines were for your marine and medivac to GM. Man, those widow mines against the zerg felt like they were terran creep tumors but deadly... When they were on the right spots its hard to move around... Love the series :D

I've seen 1v3 pro vs diamond players, and it comes down to whether the lower level players can macro. 200 supply vs 600 supply (or 200 vs 1400 if 1v7) no amount of micro can overcome.

i fell sleep last night. so late to the party. damn tnx for the episode. 1. is it useful to get rid of their observers? 2. sometimes all of your mines are on cool down. is there any way around this? like spreading them more? not borrow them all at the same time? 3. what kind of apm one needs to make groups of mines do target fires against detectors for example? (in the middle of fights while controlling cyclones too) need to grow more hands?🤒

I guess vs zerg, you need to plant a trail of mines on your first attack path, then if the attack is countered, the mines will nullify the counter and give the cyclones a route home

20:25 - why do you bring the CC back? Instead of leaving it floating over the natural to give vision (baneling count, ling count, when he starts attacking, cyclone lock-on, etc) ? Or use it as part of a second-layer wall behind the depots?

I'd like to do something with those units but having a unit in there to micro and outplay with would make it more fun as opposed to just 'a-move' units, so maybe I'd use some different combinations

You need to use the hotkey for lock-on (default is C I think) and then click on the target multiple times to do that

Thermi why when you want to build barracks first popups always ebay? Are they in the same hotkey?

I hate seeing the time bar on the video when I have to pause, cause I'm watching at work. I can always tell when it's going to be the last game of an episode.
