    I tried this product and did not have the same experience you did. If you play in a very large room it does have a small effect, but only if you angle the deflector just right. The overwhelming majority of us have a small practice room, etc., and the walls create a greater effect which make this product ineffective in such a playing environment.

    I'm not sure what you mean. The room where I tested this is small, plus its acoustically treated to be very dead. Perhaps the angle of the deflector wasn't set correctly. Unless you're playing in a closet, it will still make a huge difference.

    i do some recording and play in both big bands and with my own jazz ensemble down here in Florida where all saxophone plays retire ..My Question is how would that help me play for an audience or into a microphone on a gig ? is there a benefit from playing with a deflector on y Selmer mark 1v tenor ? Bobby G.. Delray Beach FL.

    Hey Pedro, I'm new to saxophone and jazz in general. I'm a clarinetist by trade, but out of necessity I picked up tenor and have really enjoyed the mellow dark tone that saxes are known for. Always looking for tips and tricks to improve my playing.

    Tips and tricks, I'd say make sure you really stick to the correct embouchure. Make sure you don't use your clarinet embouchure for your saxophone. Make sure you have enough mouthpiece and that you're using a good strength reed for you.

    Hey Pedro, I need help for my alto sax. My music teacher told me my sax wasn't tuned or somethin like that, she told me to pull my mouthpiece from the neck a little bit. But like the hole in the mouthpiece is bigger than normal (I think) so it just slides to the end of the neck. What do I do? Get a new mouthpiece or is there another answer?

  • @musicbypedro

    @musicbypedro

    You can get a new cork for your neck, or you can use a slip of paper and wrap it around your cork to make it thicker, then you can slide the mouthpiece on there.

    Would this affect the spacing when it comes to miking my sax with a clip on mic? Would I still have space for it, if so where do I place it?

    what neckstrap do you use and what kind of plasic/fake reed would you recommend for jazz/anything

  • @musicbypedro

    I use the Neotech practice strap. Its got aluminum straps so the weight is evenly distributed. As far as Synthetic Reeds, I highly recommend the Legere Signature for jazz, and the classic cut for anything else. Stay tuned for a video this week on the difference between the two. Thanks!

  • @DreamzBurn

    The soprano saxophone is a beast in it's own world. It is my favorite to play everyday and took me over a year to get use to the air stream support and embouchure control needed to play the instrument decently. There isn't much you can teach in terms of "correct" embouchure since everyone is different. Just never roll you bottom lip over your teeth. It creates tension in your Larynx which hinders your sound and of course practice everyday. 9/10 times it's the player not the instrument. Unless it is in need of repairs.

    +Music By Pedro I recently got my braces tightened and couldn't play my sax for 2 weeks. When I got back I couldn't get my embouchure back it isn't tight enough. Also it took a lot more air to play than before. And I can't control pitch I always go flat or sharp when I play. Any tips

    Brian Lin probably need to give your chops a break while they get used to the braces. Those things will mess you up but there's nothing you can do other than give it time.

    +Music By Pedro you're probably right about that, but for €35 (im in france) it just sounds like a rip off to me. like jazzlabs mouthpiece silencer too, could get the same result putting the mouthpiece in a small plastic bottle....
