The idea that Rowling should somehow be “seperated” from Harry Potter is absurd. She could be paid off to remove her name from it??? There’s not enough money in the world. The characters and the world she created are the stars, not the actors who played them. I don’t even like the Harry Potter books but trying to erase Rowling from Harry Potter is kind of creepy. Schneider is a past master of taking nonsense in an authoritative way.

I think he meant the deal that Rowling has with WB: they can't make movies that are not based on her work. So any prequels, spinoffs, sequels that weren't written by her, cannot happen.

Surprised you thought it would fizzle out. It’s not about the movies, it’s about the books and the stories. Let’s not compare like their apples and apples but LOTR has endured faaaaar longer than the Harry Potter franchise…..where Harry Potter is strong is that it’s suitable for a much larger demographic.

Harry Potter is right up there with LOTR, Star Wars and Marvel movies. Its a big deal, at least to me!

Can people just get over themselves, holding grudges is so immature. You can love Jk you can hate her thats all good, but one thing thats a fact is she created harry potter whether you like it or not. I don't see how she's not involved in the creative process of anything harry potter its her world, none of it would exist without her, people really need to respect that, look how much that world means to us with how long ago the movies ended and still, I wouldn't want to live in a world without potter. This whole you can get the cast without jk, or you can get jk without the cast is so silly to me, shes still the same person, she has opinions you don't agree with, fine, you don't have to agree with someone to work with them (so long as they're not absolutely atrocious to work with, that I can't speak on.), I really hope they and we can put our differences aside, agree to disagree, move forward and enjoy what new potter things we're lucky enough to get in life.

Right if I’m not mistaken all she said was trans are not really women. I don’t understand the hate she got from them. When Mr. Harry Potter himself and Ronald Weasley both married a woman and have kids. If they don’t want to return due to that reason, then fine maybe is better not to have them back and go better with a series. I’m actually excited for the series and JK will be involved.

I don't know the full extent of what she's said, but thats what I've heard as well, I'm too busy minding my own business to get caught up in others lives and opinions lol. It's not a nice thing to say for sure, but since when do people say the exact perfect nice thing all the time, thats not reality. Although Rupert and Daniel having female partners is besides the point you can still be in support of people that are different from you, thats fully respected.

@@ChristianJ18 I used to think exactly how you do trust me I really did, around the time of Hogwarts legacy releasing I thought it’s bad she has that opinion but can still enjoy new HP related things as I love that world due to growing up with it but in recent months I found out that she also donates to places that are very anti trans and are by people that want trans people dead, so it’s gone beyond just having a simple difference of views. Especially because a huge chunk of money she donated that made me change my mind was what she got from Hogwarts legacy the very thing I was defending as being okay to buy

The books already has audiobooks versions and in many languages. The most popular must be the original one with Stephen Fry doing all the voices. I personally have heard the audiobooks so many times plus the books so I feel it would be cool to hear it in a completely new way. So I don't think that these are going to be only for the new readers.

Finally! I always hear people talking about the Jim Dale version but I personally have the Stephen Fry version too and I LOVE IT!

Now this I can get behind. Not so much the HBO reboot.

uhhh FYI Jeff Sneider, I have read the HP books and listened to the audio books MULTIPLE TIMES and I'm excited for the new audio production. why are you judging when you yourself has never even read the books ONCE? You are clearly not a HP fan so your opinion is very biased... let's move on.

I'm a potter head that has read & listened to the series many times over the years, so I'll listen to an audio production of the series 100%. Saying what is the point of making an audio production of something that has remained relevant & popular for decades, is like saying what is the point of having audio versions of books is it not? It's simply giving people another format with which to experience the story. As to having the original cast of the movies do the voices, that's a no from me. I'd rather actual voice actors were used, or at least actors that have proven they can also voice act, as how good or bad it is, is 50/50- between the production quality & the ability of those voicing the roles to breathe life into a character while also drawing the listener into the story at the same time. For me, I really enjoy listening to the Stargate & some of the Star Wars audio productions, so I guess that makes me somewhat of the target audience lol No comment on the JK hate- time will tell if her opinions are valid or not & at the end of the day, control of the HP property is hers & if WB or Universal doesn't like it, they can give up the HP franchise & one of the other companies will swoop in since JK has made it clear she isn't going to sell her control of the HP IP 🤷

@@tannerp.4996 No it doesn't- WB rents the IP from JK which she has full ownership over for the rest of her life + 70 years after her death. ie. WB cannot make movies or shows relating to HP without JK's permission, doing so would leave them open to a massive lawsuit, which is why they haven't done so. Once a movie or show is made, WB owns that piece of media in terms of the soundtrack, specific story told & any new characters not already established in the HP world (I assume, I could be wrong there). ie. WB owns the HP movies they made, but they have to pay a royalty to JK for them as she is still the owner of the HP IP.

@@tannerp.4996 Yes & no- the contract Universal has with WB, includes JK because she is the owner of HP. The way it works is Universal has a licencing agreement with WB & JK which means WB & JK must approve every aspect of Universal’s use of the license, including artwork, design, logos, slogans, video elements, audio elements & other items related to the Licensed Property. For example, they had to approve the Hermione voice actor used on the Hogwarts Express & Escape from Gringotts rides. However, you have a good point about universal needing WB as well as JK, so I didn't word my comment very well. I'll change it now.

I hope Stephen Fry will be involved, his audiobook narrations are amazing. He should play Dumbledore and Hagrid again.

I can't wait to listen to these newer versions of Harry Potter Audiobooks. I hope they make bigger numbers than the Reunion did. Imagine making a Harry Potter Reunion Special and not having the creator in it. No matter what you feel about her stances, that was very disrespectful. Shame on WB for such a lowblow. On the bright side, Hogwarts Legacy was a hit.

The books are much better than the movies, so it’s a great idea! As long as the audiobooks are unabridged. Can cast whoever you want… so many options. Prefect piece of marketing for the HBO series as well.

Not everyone prefers his narration. I personally like Jim Dale more. Also, this could be a fun way to revisit the stories or continue reading from where one might have stopped some time ago.

I’m excited for the next generation to enjoy Harry Potter content. I’ll be watching the MAX series with my nephews and will but the audio books when released

I've read the books and seen the movies. That audio book or audio drama might still be interesting.

Last time I read chamber of secrets was about 24 years ago. Iv seen that movie probably once a year in that time. I reckon I could give a full audio book a go 😂

5:14 I do agree with not making the reboot happen. It's been 20 years and the original movies and that cast has always been in the public consciousness. The movies and those visuals are what everybody thinks of when they think about Harry Potter. But as much as I want to see the same cast again for another movie, I don't think it's going to happen. After the failure of the Fantastic Beasts prequel movies and not everyone liking the dreaded Broadway show that is the cursed child, I think the franchise might actually be done with new movies. Leaving a reboot in the form of a TV show to be inedible. The Deathly Hallows was my Avengers Endgame. It remains to this day to have a permanent ending in a time when film franchises actually used to have that. If they had to continue that story, I would've wanted it to take place within the 19 years after defeating Voldemort and show us how a young adult Harry is dealing with that aftermath. Did Hogwarts have to shut down for a while? Did the wizard students have to live mundane lives in the muggle world for a while? Did Hermione ever reunited with her parents? They could've completely rewritten the film adaptation of the curse child to just be about that and not have it revolve around Harry's son. Nothing was supposed to come out of Albus Potter's life. That was the whole point of that ending. To show us that Harry and his friends continued to live a safe and secure life with no more disturbances in their world so future generations of wizards and witches can prosper.

People who have read the books before will listen to the audiobooks too, the books are very re readable… it’s just like watching a film more than once lol

Having original movie cast members do a voice in the audiobook has a lot of "Chris Pratt should voice act" energy.

I never read a Harry Potter book to I got to check it out

I’ve never been a big fan of audiobook dramatisations of books because I find it really difficult to follow which character is which especially if there are a lot of characters.

When it comes to the Harry Potter HBO series, I still feel it’s way too soon to be rebooting the series and I think it’s going to be difficult to adapt the first three books into seasons considering the movies had almost all of the important elements from the books in them.

Yet Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson hate JK so how does this work
