I had seen Caucasian children do it in public and, while I NEVER threw one at home, I thought I'd try it to see if it would work. (As young as I was, I distinctly remember thinking that my tantrum would embarrass my mother.) I was wrong. It never happened again. Fr lots of things were horrible back in the days and just because it use to be normal doesn't mean it's ok. There's a reason why people don't think it's okay now. For some reason it's so hard for some people to grasp. A lot of things can be taught without needing to raise your hand. And even if it works the line between abuse and parenting is so blurred that you can literally beat your child up to pent your frustration when they make a mistake then call it "parenting". Maybe we shouldn't normalise something that can blur the line between abuse and parenting.

@@piyushmahajan5609 and that’s fine. For the first 10 years of my life my father beat me with a belt, my sisters didn’t understand why I got punished for for some of what I did, like taking in a stray cat, or asking my father to smoke outside, or getting a ride home from school in nearly sub zero temps with my friends father, but I was nearly 30 min late due to him having to do errands on the way. And he still did worse then all of that on occasion. And when my mom confronted him about my bruises and cuts, he tried to explain to her that life is going to be harder for me then it would be for my sisters, so he is just toughening me up. When he left a week before my 11th birthday I was so confused when I moved in with my mom. I remember my jacket getting caught on a door handle and falling into a shelf with a vase my mom had made when she was still getting her degree. I remember getting down on my hands and knees gripping the ceramic so hard my hands bled, I knew my mom was a smoker like my father, I didn’t know how she would punish me, and at the time I just found my hand wandering to some cigaret burns my father had put on my left shoulder and I just shuddered and went to fill a bowl with Luke warm water and got the isopropyl alcohol from the bathroom and I just sat there for 2 hours before she got home from picking up a quilt my grandma had made just for me. And I remember her coming straight to me and pushing my now dried blood caked hands into the water and asking me if I was okay, as she dried her hands on her shirt and contacted the ER. I have throughout my almost 28 years, nearly killed 2 bullies, and hospitalized a handful of others. I have been in and out of half a dozen therapy offices, where they had a rough time showing me how to manage my anger issues. I’ve managed to not get in a fight after graduation. And here in 2023 I am taking medication and doing much better, I still get more angry then I should at almost anything, but I’ve finally managed to slow down and to take things others do, less personally. I can’t even imagine how different my life could have been if my father had left before I was born.

To assume that that experience did not shape me in a positive way??? To this day, I thank God (even with all of her imperfections) that she was my mother.

The last part tho, 😂😂😂😂 “I got beat in the car” Definitely happened all the time to me, smh
