I watched Aliens again yesterday. Apart from a rather obvious matte painting and dated composite here and there, the movie hasn't aged at all. It's all in camera masterful puppeteering and looks amazing. CGI creatures are great, but they are obviously GCI. I like it for hard surface modeling, set extensions and things like that. For up close creatures, nothing beats the "real" thing. Can't wait for Romulus.

Saw Godzilla x King Kong and I actually thought it was better than Godzilla vs Kong. Also it might be my favorite King Kong movie and ive never been big on him as a character.

My idea for one that's never been made, Thundercats obviously, but also Bioshock based on the game (obscenely expensive, I imagine), the anime Akira, probably not extremely popular, red dead redemption. Besides that they should make a more adult Scooby-Doo more of a horror movie vibe. Oh I forgot m.a.s.k. based on the cartoon.

Practical effects to the exclusion of CGI isn't what any high-budget movies are doing. They may use practical effects on set, but you better believe they applying CGI to every scene, even if it's just two people walking down a corridor talking about their favorite ice cream We are at the point where practical effects are overrated and CGI is unfairly and perhaps ignorantly derided.

Nobody is saying they aren't also doing CGI. Of course they are going to add CGI to all the things. That's standard practice to a certain degree.
