shonkee gogo BS. Everyone has physical withdrawal symptoms, yours may have been lessened to a degree by other factors, but you still had them. Every drug is different. Some drugs produce significant physical withdrawal (alcohol, opiates, and tranquilizers). Some drugs produce little physical withdrawal, but more emotional withdrawal (cocaine, marijuana, and ecstasy). Every person's physical withdrawal pattern is also different. You may have just experienced little physical withdrawal.

It's not really hard to believe that people who "Find the lord" change their behavior drastically. When you go to places like rehab or whatever, what do they try to do? They want to change things about you. First you change who you hang out with. You can't be hanging around with your old friends if you want to quit doing your old behaviors. Then they want to change your habits. Where you go and what you do. You change these little things about your life in order to change that one big thing. So what's an easy way to change everything about you, your friends, your habits and haunts, all at once. And not only that but just beyond your habits and friends, finding religion changes you as a person in more dramatic ways anyway. When I was religious, EVERYTHING was filtered through my belief. Whenever I had a doubt, I'd feel a little twinge of guilt. Your opinions change, your behavior changes, even your thought patterns change. You read different books, you watch different media, you talk to different people. Your appearance might even change if maybe you dressed immodestly or in some way that doesn't serve God. So, yeah. You're probably going to stop using your drugs too. The problem is, this solution might last as long as your religious euphoria lasts or maybe as long as your religious belief lasts but you haven't REALLY addressed the problem. I don't know how long it will help. I'm not a psychologist but it stands to reason that if you begin to change for other reasons, since sometimes people change, well, who knows? All I can really say about it is, beyond your pastor, you might want to consider at least trying a real professional head shrinker too. I'm sure there's much joy in your church every Sunday but to quote a wise man, "Shit happens!" Who knows what could just throw you right back into your old thought patterns once again. Maybe a major trauma, maybe a shitty day at work. But I would at least consider it if I were you.

shonkee gogo That’s the point genius, you believers can spin those stories anyway you want, and claim they’re true because of the lack of specifics. So, no I’m not spouting foolishness. That would be you. As Diviance asked you, why don’t you name a single successful prophecy that names a specific person, place, time and reason. While you figure out how to interpret one to somehow try to prove its accuracy... Ezekiel 29:1-15, God states that Egypt will be made into a desolate wasteland: Since Ezekiel was penned, Egypt has never been recorded as a 'desolate waste'. There is no historical evidence of a time when people have not walked through Egypt; when for forty years Egypt was uninhabited after the civilization started there; or for when Egypt has been surrounded by other desolate countries. Ezekiel 30:12, God promises to dry up the Nile: There is no evidence that this has happened in recorded history. Isaiah 7:1-7, God tells the king of Judah that he shall not be harmed by his enemies. Yet it did come to pass, and his enemies did harm him. As the Bible itself in 2 Chronicles 28:1-8 says so. Isaiah 19:1-8, God said that the Nile river would dry up and the "waters shall fail from the sea": This is an interesting prophecy because Isaiah outlines a very clear timeframe; the alleged prophet is unmistakably referring to Pagan Egypt, which ceased to exist in the 4th Century. (Isaiah 19:1-3) Since then, Egyptians have stopped using charms, wizards, and there are no statue-worshipping idolaters anymore (Isaiah 19:3), so the reader can conclude this isn't an end times prophecy, unless one assumes they will resume doing these things. The prophet blatantly identifies the dried-up river (Isaiah 19:5) with the Nile (Isaiah 19:8). And he goes even further to say one of the seas Egypt borders will drain, and this appears to coincide with the Nile River drying up. There is absolutely no hint of this prophecy being interpreted symbolically or metaphorically. Isaiah actually goes out of his way to stress the literal, physical, carnal fulfillment of this prophecy. Isaiah 19:18 In that day shall five cities in the land of Egypt speak the language of Canaan, and swear to the LORD of hosts; one shall be called, The city of destruction. However.. Not only has the Canaanite language never been spoken by Egyptians, but it is now an extinct language. There is the very unlikely possibility Isaiah was referring to Hebrew, which is technically a Canaanite language. However, Hebrew was also never adopted by the Egyptians. And according to the context of this passage, Isaiah is specifically referring to Pagan Egypt, which ceased to exist in the 4th century (see above). So even if Egyptians started speaking Hebrew at this very moment, it would still be an inaccurate prediction, unless again they begin doing these things (highly unlikely). Also, it's worth noting that Isaiah believes the Egyptians will convert to Mosaic Judaism and start offering sacrifices to the LORD shortly after this incident (Isaiah 19:21)-a practice no longer done by Jews since the Temple was destroyed and priesthood lost. Exodus 23:25-31 Israel will extend from the Red Sea to the Euphrates: Israel's borders have rarely reached the Red Sea, and have never reached the Euphrates, which passes through Syria. Ezekiel 28:24-26 predicts that Israel will live in peace with its neighbors: A consistent aspect of history is that Israel has never gotten along with its neighbors. (Or, if you prefer, that its neighbors have never gotten along with it.) There's still hope that Israel and the neighbourhood will be peaceful one day, but it requires everyone in the region to stop "inflicting punishment" on each other. At several instances in the Old Testament God promises David that the descendants of Solomon will rule Judah forever. For example, in 2 Samuel 7:13-16. Unfortunately for the prophet Nathan, the Davidic line ended with King Zedekiah in about 586 BC. Biblical inerrantists, spotting a possible loophole, claim that Jesus, being descended from David, fulfilled this prophecy. Acts 2:29-31 However, there are many reasons this is an unsatisfactory solution. Aspects of the 2 Samuel reference above, specifically "When he does wrong," do not seem consistent with Christian doctrine of Jesus as the Son of God. Additionally, the line of kings is described as being continuous. This leaves unexplained the near 600-year gap between Zedekiah and Jesus. Further, there is the question of the Davidic line after Jesus, as he apparently died ascended childless. Note: Mark 6:3 and Matthew 13:55 as evidence for Jesus' siblings. Note: A precedent is previously set for biblical linage being a mantel rather then genetic linage due to Gen. 24 and 27, Jacob's theft of Esau's blessing and the selling of the birthright. In reality the only evidence available that Jesus is a descendant of David is in the genealogies in Matthew and Luke. The alleged prophecy stresses the literal descendancy from David. However, if the virgin birth doctrine be valid then Jesus is not actually the son of Joseph, making virgin birth seem incompatible with Jesus' descendancy from David. Finally, several Bible verses seem to indicate that Jesus is in fact *not* of the line of David. For example Matthew 22:41-45 states: While the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them, "What do you think about the Christ? Whose son is he?" "The son of David," they replied. He said to them, "How is it then that David, speaking by the Spirit, calls him 'Lord'? For he says, 'The Lord said to my Lord: "Sit at my right hand until I put your enemies under your feet." ' *If then David calls him 'Lord,' how can he be his son?"* The Bible is explicit about having David's descendants control the throne, forever. Jesus can't and doesn't "spiritually" control the physical affairs of the state of Israel. Even if he did, he came a few centuries after the Davidic line got severed. 2 Samuel 7:12-16 is explicit that the son of David, who would be one of David's biological offspring, would establish his unending kingdom. 400 years, while decent, falls short of unending -- Solomon cannot fulfill the prophecy. Jesus' father is irrelevant, because the son of David Biblically must be David's biological son -- adoption doesn't count. The author is pushing three separate "fulfillments" -- Solomon as biological successor, Jesus as nonbiological but "spiritual" successor, and Jesus as biological successor. None can be true at the same time. More evidence the writers can’t proof read or fact check.

I think there's a lot you're missing about the whole prophecy thing. Usually, when you look at these prophecies, they seem a lot more compelling when explained by the religionists. When you read it, to me it's like "What that's it?" But let's say that the Bible says something and it happened. What can we infer? Maybe it was a lucky guess. Maybe he extrapolated based on current events. Maybe there was a time traveller. Or, maybe someone really knew what was going to happen and he said it and someone wrote it down and it got in the Bible. Let's say we somehow eliminate the other possibilities even though there's potentially an infinite number of them. Okay great. Now what|? What can we infer from that? Nothing. Does it mean God exists? Nope. Does it mean other things in the Bible are true? Nope. Does it mean Christianity is true? Nope. It's another case of fractal wrongness. There's never one compelling part about it but even if I granted that part, and the next part, we never get to anything of substance. It's wrong based on wrong. I have one more point to make. At one point he describes his pastor talking about it. He says he knew very little about the Bible and he began to talk about these prophecies was amazed. Yeah. Preachers have a way of doing that don't they. They can make it seem SO convincing but think about it. What do you really know about it? Because when you were telling the story, you didn't really have at your disposal all those eloquent little points he made. You were telling the story of someone else telling you how true it is. Look it up yourself for Pete's sake. Find out everything you can about it then you tell me how amazing it is. Never just trust someone else. Especially not someone who's highly motivated. (I mean psychologically motivated. Not financially or something like that.)

Israel did not reform. It's people were scattered, interbred with the local populations of where they were scattered /to/ over many generations, and then their descendants were given a bunch of land where the old Israel used to be (which had since been renamed as Palestine, btw), and the stolen land was renamed again as Israel in honor of the historic home *that they lost*. Key phrase there. Israel did not reform, a NEW Israel was founded in place of the old. If Israel did, in fact, reform, it's exact peoples would have come back and the country would be functioning as it once did before the Diaspora. That's not the case. That cannot possibly be the case. Ergo, Fred, it doesn't matter that the Jewish people were scattered "2,000 years ago", because the people that were scattered did not return, and the country their descendants founded is not the same country that their ancestors called home. It's New Israel.

If you make a broad prophecy that take 2000 years thats just horrible. Plus you have people actively trying to work and pursue that prophecy for 2000 years. shonkee gogo God damn Santa and his reindeer! And the Easter Bunny can F himself! And IF your God actually existed and gave a damn about his creation, rather than be a deadbeat dad and a bad landlord, he’d answer prayers from the 16k parents whose children die daily from hunger related illnesses. The people God has power over are believers. Only those who consider themselves "sinners" need “salvation." It is a religious solution to a religious problem. A moral person is accountable. If my actions cause unnecessary harm, intentionally or unintentionally, then my "salvation" comes in trying to correct that harm, or to repair the damage as much as possible.

shonkee gogo So, yet again it’s painfully obvious you can’t refute the argument so you go to smartass insults. I do not ‘need’ salvation. And guess what Sparky, quoting verses doesn’t mean a damn thing to me or any other atheist. I can say anything vile about your imaginary friend I want to, like why the F isn’t rape on his top ten list of things you can’t do. Evidently rape is ok with Him seeing as how He ignores rapists buying their victim from their father for a fist full of cash, and condones kidnapping women as spoils of war.

shonkee gogo “I am a horror to children.” How exactly isn’t that insulting? Again, you can’t refute the argument so insults and smartass remarks are believers’ go to moves. “Who is Sparky?” Do I really need to explain sarcasm to you? 🤦‍♂️🙄🤨
