I do agree with Religion being virus like and extremely dangerous. Religions are dangerous because even when people do not use religion as a weapon it still has that possibility built into the structure of all religions and the three most dangerous ones are Judaism, Christianity and Islam.

I used to read tarot cards. I did such a good job predicting what would happen to people that they refused to believe me when I told them I wasn’t doing anything supernatural. Even after I explained the symbolism of the cards, the psychology behind it, and how they were practically handing information to me on a golden platter, it didn’t matter. They just switched tactics and offered me money to do them. That’s when I had to put them away and I could no longer use them in the playful manner I had enjoyed doing. People want SO MUCH to believe in the mystical that they will convince themselves of just about anything. Not just that, but they will bypass the fantastic, awe inspiring, natural world around us in favor of these hollow, meaningless pursuits.

Your circular argument of "Objective moral values and duties do not exist unless God exists" is still circular unless you answer my points (evidence for god's existence and evidence for objective moral values) I accept that the point about slavery being irrelevant only if you are not talking about the christian god (the only i know, for now, that endorses such action), otherwise is pretty relevant. You then make a prediction about 8 cases out of 10, contradicting the Biblical story --- and all of a sudden YOUR prediction, is unlike the predictions made by theists? No your right, your predictions are even LESS likely. And Jesus wasn't a good guy? He was a horrible person if you read the Bible? What the f....are you talking about? Whether Jesus Christ existed or not, is irrelevant because he is symbolising compassionate love, and peace, and that is a quality of being, worthy to aspire towards.

My late mother, when well into her nineties, was in regular email contact with a friend an ocean away with whom she had gone to kindergarten. She played games, looked up facts, identified birds, and took virtual tours of art museums around the world.

My favorite part was the part where Jason absolutely refused to honestly answer simple questions over, and over, and over again, trying to worm his way out of an honest conversation by answering questions that weren't being asked. I have to re-read the god delusion by Dawkins to get some brain cells back. That was exhausting.

A friend of my daughter came over years ago, claimed that he had prayed to Jesus for a car and within a few weeks, Jesus answered his prayer. After he left, my daughter explained that his grand mother had died and left him the car.

I have the feeling that these early bullies still bother Jason so much that he sees bullies in anyone who disagrees with him. He is so personally disappointed in what he perceives as his early failure, he spends his life continuously trying to refight those early battles.

This was the exact argument I had repeatedly when I was a kid when I was trying to convince my mother that I had done my homework. No matter how much I told her I'd done it she kept wanting to see the evidence which I could never come up with.

I had a bully when I was in high school. He bullied me pretty fiercely for over a year - slamming me against lockers, threatening me in many different ways, getting his friends to threaten me, etc. He dropped out of school, and was killed in a car accident. I can't imagine thinking that God somehow saved me from this bully. Not only would that be a monumentally horrible thing for God to have done, but how could I have the arrogance and be so self-centered to believe that God did that for me? Just blows my mind. But then I hear Jason speak, and I realize that there are some really arrogant and ridiculous people out there.

Slaughter, cut into pieces, sprinkle the blood around and burn the chosen parts for "sweet savour unto the Lord" - from reading the Bible I remember this being God's favourite part of worship. He can be picky though and sometimes animals are fine (as long as there's enough gore), sometimes only specific ones and sometimes you gotta kill kids for him to be happy.

That's the concept of the show. If it was the Atheist Experienced, he would have been done way earlier. You can see Matt often looking over to the end call button, but resisting the urge because it's not his show.

“I define morality as that which is preferable to one person and not preferable to another.” Wow. Aside from that self-serving notion being entirely inconsistent with what Christianity propounds in this regard, it’s a simply terrible means of determining what should be considered moral in a civil society. Jason is yet another theist who’s deeply confused about almost everything but nonetheless still believes with absolute certainty that he’s got all the answers.

You are only saying that human well being is what you prefer. It's not really inconsistent with what this caller said. Colloquially, morality is used the same way you use it, but there's nothing inherent to the word that has that goal built in.

The caller is a narcissist - he believes he holds the strings on his own god. I love the way Matt catches this thug in his lies. One should always deal with a narcissist by recording him or her because the narcissist by definition will try to turn the tables on the logical thinker who confronts him or her.
