Goalkeeper Mindset: 3 Tips to Help You Perform At Your Best More Consistently

Спорт

I share with you 3 tips for goalkeepers so that you can put behind you mistakes and improve your focus.
- Visualise being the calm, composed goalkeeper and how you will respond to difficulties ahead of time.
- Be your inner goalkeeper coach, encouraging yourself no matter what.
- Focus on the present moment by placing your attention in your body during stoppages in play.

Tltr Number3 is maybe the only important thing to realize. Dont think about what to do, whats gonna happen, how the ball is gonna come in, what the next match is gonna look like. Dont try to visualise situations before or in the game. I've had really big problems in my early years, lots of mistakes and i would say a kind of anxiety to be in the goal. The thing is, the mistakes and failures, the things that go wrong( wich you easily handle in training, like simply catching the ball), it all goes wrong because you thought about it in that moment. Even the big names make horrible failures, and you can see the lil thoughts in their eyes right before, within that splitsecond... and a laughable ball goes in, right trough their hands. Act like a predator, like a lion, just focus, let your instincts take over. Everything has to be automatic, yourself doesnt exist on the field. In training overthink everything, be nervous, experiment new things, try as hard as you can. But in the game switch off yourself, be not you, be something else... a goalkeeper.

I practice stoicism while playing as a goalkepper. Not everything is under my control, but I must do my best in what is in my hands. Amor Fati, focus in the present and love it. Premeditateo malorum, prepare to keep still in bad situations.
