The Price Of Winning & Why It's Worth It: Truth About Kobe Bryant & Michael Jordan | Tim Grover

Ойын-сауық

As you reflect on your business, career, and personal life; where are you winning, and where have you been losing lately? Whether you choose to see the pursuit of success and greatness as a game or not, the reality is there is a cost to play. In this episode, I’m joined by the legendary and iconic trainer, Tim Grover. He authored one of my favorite books, Relentless, and is releasing another book that will change your life called, Winning. He redefines winning in a way that embraces the discomfort of sitting with your losses. If you’re in it to win it, the hard truths Tim drops here about embracing the dark side and making sure your mind is stronger than your feelings will leave you supercharged and ready to attack winning with a new perspective.
Order Tim Grover’s newest book, Winning: The Unforgiving Race to Greatness: www.amazon.com/Winning-Unforg...

QUOTES:
Winning is not about the trophy and the accolades. It's about the grind. It's about the obstacles. It's about the challenges. It's about the pain that you endure along the way. “ [2:10]
“Everybody wants to win, but in order to know how to win, you got to know how to lose because you're going to lose more than you're going to win.” [3:40]
“Your flaws are your gift and people are so busy trying to deal with their flaws and change their flaws when their flaws are actually what allows them to stay in that race.” [7:46]
“These are the things that allow me to be different. It's what allows me to be unique because winning wants you to be different.” [9:22]
“You got to love the process. I agree with that, but I also kind of disagree with that because to me, you have to do the process. The process is non-negotiable.” [14:46]
“The process is a non-negotiable thing. The end result is not always there. That win isn't always there” [15:42]
“...if a new day starts in the dark, why are you afraid to use your dark side for your new beginnings?” [33:26]
“Your mind will make a decision. [....] Your feelings always make suggestions.” [44:39]
“You have too many individuals out there that are not writing their own story. They're letting other people write those stories for them.” [50:30]

When you said "If someone attacked someone you love, are you going to tap into the light or dark energy?" And yall went into the benefits of controlled rage 💎💎 first instinct in most of us is to go into the dark side and attack back.

His encouraging speech only concerns with people who belong to some kind of sport profession which requires winning strategies which he explained intelligently. Thanks for bringing him on your show... Yet, i would request you to help us with someone who could praise ideas related to strategies for common man related to their conducting of daily lives...Every common man is not in the race of winning.

Unfortunately I am able to find only a few guidelines in the show which I am able to apply in the educational sphere of my life. Could you help me? Thank you

20:00 To his point I totally agree. When others would tell me I was too militant or too serious about how I believed I should go about my life, I stayed in a depression that was difficult to get out of, not realizing I had internalized those words and I allowed them to make me weak. What was "militant" was discipline and what was "too serious" was focus.

This has been the most inspiring talk I have seen in a very long time. It's just what I needed to hear. I had literally forgotten how much I like to win because it's been a while. The inner 🔥 is stoked and I know who I need to be and what I need to do. Thank you 🙏

Great interview. I've read both Relentless and Winning plus I'm a huge fan of both MJ and Kobe due to their work ethics. I've always loved the "take no s$#%" approach to success! What Tim said about sitting in your failure was so on point💯 as well

What a man! Never heard of this dude before. That part when he talked about his daughter about missing him must have provided the storyline in Adam Sandlers film I watched just last night "Hustle". Love from South London all. Let's all be legendary 🙌

I am so intrigued by this interview! It is causing me to rethink what it means to be a nice person…a good person…how I have been limiting myself by not allowing myself to operate in “controlled rage”. I’m going to take a good look in the mirror. Thank you 🙏🏾 ❤
