Because it is humor. Humor isn't about the format to say stuff. It's about how controversial, dark, conflicting and painful the stuff is. And when it is, and you get the free add-on that the line is also relatable too? You're in for a huge smile on your face. That is (at least for me) the very definition of humor. But in this time, television and mainstream media boycotted humor a long time ago and replaced it for simple, dry, political correct, npc lines that aren't funny at all. You may still find them funny, but not as fucking funny as the oldskool shit. Because the old shit makes me laugh until my throat sores and muscles hurt like fuck. So enjoy yourselves here. Because "comedy" as we know it, isn't coming back any time soon.

@@thomasj4245 I'm not sure why you're calling names at all. Last I checked he never made fun of people in 1918 who used NPIs to protect themselves against a viral spread. The issue with you is you're applying things that Carlin said to your own personal politics and view which is highly uneducated. These are clearly different times. The thing your missing is precisely that 98.7 percent survival rate really means a 1.3 percent death rate. These numbers are false, but that's not really the point. The virus is deadly because it transmits to high numbers of people and kills a small percentage of a lot of people. We cannot lose millions of people and have a normal economy and Trump got us stuck in the middle of doing something, but not enough as far as NPIs. Compared to the Spanish flu, this will be a bigger disaster in the end. It's frustrating because we know how to stop it but chose not to because of politics and now we have variants. The US has 25 percent of all deaths and 4 percent of the population. This isn't good.

After a while, you begin to see repeating historical trends. In his case, all these comments PREDATE 9/11, and they predate the pandemic police state. Take an older movie like Enemy of the State. That is a timeless tale heads and shoulders above the mindless Hollywood drivel now because it _wasn't about the politics surrounding 9/11._ Or Bush's failed War on Terror. Or the leaks from Edward Snowden about the surveillance state we have thanks to 9/11. It's just so amusing to me how little has changed in the last two to three decades.
