The thing that they're forgeting in this conversation is that Jesus played second fiddle to Aguero for years! And wasn't even a regular starter when Aguero was injured. It's one thing to be extremely tactically astute, but if you have a very good striker who is fit and you keep playing a false 9 and worse a false 9 with a LB who did not train for it, that situation is rather humiliating. And frankly, it left people like me feeling like he was less than average. His move toArsenal made me realize how good he is.

Bernado was a false 9 in that game. The manager holds ultimate rights to squad selection. That's Pep style, but I hate him when he drops the players after playing well in the previous game. Mahrez dropped from the team after a solid FA Cup game. I'll give benefits of doubts to Pep at this point because he knows how to bring the best out of any player. Man City is Juggernaut, and everybody in this squad fights for a place. The more versatile you play, the more chances get game time.

I wonder why so many players have said pep is a racist.
The point of the story is not that Jesus got dropped for a big game (or that he cried and called his mother) but that Pep was unpredictable in strange ways that made it difficult for some players and that’s why he wanted to leave.

That is your take? Interesting. Have you ever coached at an elite level? NBA? NFL? Premier League? MLB? Just, curious? Jesus basically said he would rather go somewhere where it's easier to find playing time than compete at the highest level. We were bringing in Julian Alvarez, we signed him in the winter for 14.1 and it was looking like we were getting Haaland. Jesus saw the writing on the wall. This is kinda sad on his end and shows his character.

Doesn’t matter, theirs a reason why he’s called the best manager in the world. It’s not up to the players to judge whether he made the right decision or not, you play how the coach wants you to play whether you think he’s right or not. It’s not difficult for the players to play under pep, their just not good enough to play under pep. If it was the other way around imagine how many others would’ve left if they felt the same way, instead they played better, performed much better in training so they could gain peps favor it’s just how it is. Tons of coaches are like that. Pep does what he does and wins and that’s all that matters is winning. If your gonna cry about playing time then go to the other divisions were your guaranteed to start if that’s what you really care about. The reason he was dropped was because he didn’t play the way pep wanted and that’s always been the case in all the teams he’s coached.
Just love it when players are this real and don’t lie.

The match was played in November 21. What Jesus doesn't say is he got more minutes in the league in the first half of the 21/22 season than KDB, Grealish, Sterling, Foden, Mahrez and Gundogan and started all the Big 6 games. Only Bernardo had more minutes and simply Jesus was bang in favour at that time but rotated for the PSG game. Something about nothing although obviously upset him at the time.

Just because John Stones didn't cry about it doesn't make Jesus not entitled to. They come from different backgrounds and economic situations back home, so all of that to some degree factors in to the way they felt they got treated and their response to it. Pep's story is probably going to be that he didnt think Jesus wasn't good enough. There was also this feeling that when Jesus was on the pitch and City needed big goal, he was not a clinical enough finisher to score it. Mahrez a winger is dropped for Bernado. Last CL final they played, both CDM’s dropped for Gundo and Bernado. We’ve even seen Bernado played LB this season. And what Jesus is talking about, it was Bernado playing as false 9 and Zinchenko in midfield. So i understand players want to start these big matches, but we’ve seen it many times with Pep. He always goes for the unexpected, hence his success. So many could’ve given up like Jesus, e.g Stones, Walker, Gundo , Mahrez etc. Mahrez was dropped after a hattrick. But those who persevered especially Stones, ripped the benefits. Look at his performances this season and how he’s loved by the fans. Players should learn to respect each other more. When ever you start, someone else is dropped. I understand the wanting to always start attitude, but express that when you’re on the pitch not outside. Make yourself un droppable. I think it's become pretty clear by now that Jesus will never develop into a consistent goal scorer. If I were Pep I would let him go too. As for Zinchenko playing attacking midfielder or a false 9, that's his preferred position after all. Pep made him a make-shift left back so he could invert into midfield when in possession, but he was and probably still is a natural midfielder.

To be fair, one of the good things about Pep is that he is unpredictable. You thought as a coach you know how he's going to do the line-up and he comes up with something strange and your plans are screwed. It may or may not work, but that's part of being a manager because you have to try things out. Who knew Stones could play the CDM role well? Pep puts himself under immense pressure to produce results.....someday these players will be coaches or managers and have to deal with the pressure of performing week in week out and to get the best out of players & the team. Gabriel Jesus has much to learn in life. Even Yaya Toure had an issue with Pep but now understands as Yaya is a youth coach now. hahaha yeah exactly. The amount of chances Jesus and Sterling missed were out of control. Funny we sell those 2 and Zinny and boom the treble is won
Something else to factor is as much as Zinchenko plays LB he Acctually a CAM. And at the top level esspecially a team like city every player has qualities that allows them to play multiple positions. With the exception of Mabye goalkeeper
Pep has always been really hard with his players, either they accept their role in the team or they are out, it must be really hard and brain draining to not play and not be able to complain because you know what will happen if you do, he also doesn't do a lot of rotation, as soon as he finds what he's looking for, that's it for the rest of the season
This is such bollocks. Zinchenko did not play in his place, Bernardo Silva and KDB played up front. Zinchenko played as left winger. Gabriel's memory is clouded by his tears.
Come off it. The suggestion that Pep didn’t recognize Jesus’ greatness just because he did well as a sub is ridiculous. Jesus was always inconsistent af. Also, where did the “he probably only scored because City’s that good” narrative go? Or is that kept for when we downplay City players? Zinny never played striker, that’s just absurd. Jesus is categorising it wrong, because Pep played a different lineup. The fact that City won a treble the season after he left, largely thanks to a very clinical striker, and Arsenal didn’t even struggle when Jesus was injured, pretty much says it all.
Players when they come to city they come to play for pep they say that they know how ruthless they talk to other team mates all the time they know goat ways
We can't react the same to experiences. Crying is his expression of his disappointment..
How did Phillips feel when PG put John Stones in midfield for the first time. How did the defenders feel when Pep had Bernardo Silva play left back. Pep had Yaya Toure playing CB, Phillip Lahm as a holding midfielder. Guardiola does this all the time nobody but Gabriel went crying to their mom.
