For those who are unaware, this video has now become infamous as a footnote in the Senators Blumenthal/Markey statement about the NTHSA investigation. I'm curious whether this route can be duplicated to see what has been improved since 9.0. Will it still not avoid the bushes? Does it still misunderstand SF's bus/taxi lanes? Some things would be hard to duplicate like the scary part of aiming for a parked car on a left turn. It would be really great to see the tough videos "regression tested", noting that Chuck Cook seems to do this.

Certainly FSD Beta is driving like a student driver (still learning to drive). Not like a drunk driver though. And in some cases it caught things the human driver missed. At 2:40 in the video FSD Beta saw the (moving) debris in the road and tried to avoid it. The human driver and human passenger both completely missed that debris. Clearly Beta still has a way to go before prime time. I'm interested to see what improvements are made during the next few weeks after this release's bugs are addressed. I'm definitely seeing progress - and I'm sure addressing corner cases will take time - but the end result will be a 10x+ safer (than human) system.

It just isn't possible for a human to do as good of a job. This beta version is nothing like what the finished version will look like, so you'll just have to be patient and see for yourself. That said, as it is humans already kill enough people on the highways. Your perfect driving record is not typical, and to make comments like that is just as bad and ignores a safer future for everyone using autonomous vehicles. Again, no disrespect intended, but you're not seeing things clearly or you don't understand how things can be. But you'll see...be patient.

@@kratosdisciple4637 I understand why you feel as you do now. If they had released it to the general public I'd feel the same way. But they haven't. This gentleman is one of ~93 non-employee people (I forget the exact number, but it's less than 100) who were trained to test this BETA software on public roads. It says BETA for a reason. The general public can buy FSD in advance, but it hasn't been released yet. I do understand how you feel, but I disagree. If you come back and watch these videos in a few weeks you'll see a dramatic improvement. This happens every time a new version is released: The software is buggy, test drivers point out the issues, the engineers fix the issues, and there's a big step up in safety again. You may not like that this is being tested on public roads, and you may not like that non-employees are helping to test the beta software, but to me it's imperative that we get this to work quickly because the longer we take the longer humans can kill people on the roads by the hundreds every day. I respect your opinion but I simply disagree. I've been diligently watching these videos from the beginning, and I am encouraged every time by the improvements they are making. This particular software update is buggier than usual due to the radar being removed, yet still it's performing the function admirably in most cases. Be well. I probably will not respond to you again only because this debate could go on and on, and I don't want to spend the time on it. I wish you well. (And be patient... It'll get much, much better.)

I think when they took the radar out the code was a total re-write. So in some ways it’s like several steps back but I think, using lessons learned in the past, this version will improve much faster than previous versions. I am surprised by the number of jerky steering inputs in this video compared to all of the others I’ve watched where it looked very smooth. I even began to suspect the driver was putting the inputs in to make it look bad. However, I came to the conclusion it’s re-learning from scratch again.

Although most of the Beta testers are excited to be testing the Beta, there are plenty of videos showing where it has had problems and most KZreadrs are quick to point them out. I’ve seen more rural drives with FSD Beta that are flawless, but the cities are definitely much more difficult (as they are for humans too) with many more mistakes. Ive watched other videos from autonomous driving companies, such as cruise, zoox that were released by the companies. The videos were impressive, but we’re speed up and showed them driving around a city in good weather. Who knows how many attempts they took before they used that footage. I think the KZread videos are giving us the most realistic view of any autonomous driving software.

For FSD to have a chance at working it needs to be 99.99% flawless in the US to even attempt to handle European driving scenarios. Let's face it. This is piss poor.
