    I'm pretty sure if Tesla programs their cars like Waymo does, it's already finished. But they don't want to limit it to certain areas, since it's an AI, it only makes sense to train it to be able to drive in every condition and be able to decide and adapt in different situation. AIs could improve exponentially, just like every tech. So this could be within this year or be 3 more years to finally be called level 5 autonomy.

    I noticed you activated FSD after you passed the cop in the intersection directing traffic by hand signals. Level 5 will have to understand his gestures and obey them. That’s going to be really interesting if he’s turned sideways or his back is to the car. And it has to distinguish between a cop and a pedestrian waving to a friend. We’re looking at YEARS not months of development.

    @@kratosdisciple4637 Unfortunately though, sometimes doing something incorrect when driving is actually safer. It's like when the speed limit is 65 mph but everyone is going 85, then it's potentially safer to be going quicker than 65 even if that's not technically the legal thing to do. I think I'd be fine with a self driving car that hit 3ish mph or below at stop signs, as long as that gives it enough time to check that the intersection is clear. Rolling through a stop sign at 6 mph is probably a bit much.

    @@float32 I agree, but when a road splits, fsd may have plotted another route it thought was easier. The "understandable" part is that its how betas work. Beta sw using glitchy p2p logic will do silly things like localize the next turn probability out of context and say "if this path looks easier, i'll take it" while ignoring the future beyond that path segment. Humans would never do that for sure, as our sw is like v133386.6 lol

    It's a good extreme to deal with right away because it's off color road and very convoluted and slanted so a maneuvering policy for this will be generally competent. Notice that the AP map space is flattened no matter how hilly the real world is. But it doesn't seem to hinder it. It's possible that it's true 3D internally though.

    It seems like the car has no idea which way leads where and can't decide if the side street is the way to go or not. I haven't been there, but as far as I can tell, the way people tell which way is the right is the color of the road and the repeated pattern, right? It probably won't be easy to get that right in every edge case, because sometimes the opposite might be the correct answer.

  • @AIAddict

    @AIAddict

    3 жыл бұрын

    They are not legal. There were actually multiple SFPD officers controlling traffic for the intersection. SF basically has no laws / no chase policy as most dirt bike riders are considered “gangs” which could compromise future investigations if they impede them. As well as cause unsafe situations for bystanders. Silly laws. Very common to see a group of them doing wheelies and speeding through traffic in the city as they come over from Oakland

    No! The difficulty increases exponentially as you deal with more and more complex edge cases. Progress will be harder and slower. Think about correctly recognizing and responding to the cop in the intersection giving hand signals to direct traffic. Can AI distinguish a cop or a flagger from a pedestrian gesturing to a friend?

    The traffic authorities are going to have to limit who gets to drive down Lombard Street. I vote for "residents only". Certainly NOT motorcycles. I've driven it once when there wasn't a waiting line.

    How are unlicensed dirt bikes allowed to ride on the streets without arrest? Anyway, I would hate to live on that street.

    Looks like Elon is going to have to announce HW 4 with a newer computer and better cameras. Doesn’t seem like this will do real autonomy level 5.
