Nothing ground breaking about the song. It was just good old fashioned mid 70s hard rock. I always enjoyed Foghat.
this song simply rocks ! hard-driving guitars, vocals and drums . absolutely lifts off like a jet at the end.

'Slow Ride' was that song that could get everyone up on their feet. Loud, pulsing pure hard rock!
Slow Ride, easy and sleazy! One of the most iconic rock songs of the 1970's. Great song, isn't it? Thanks for doing this reaction video.

The ending was basic 1970's gloriously, wretched rock 'n' roll excess, meant for big arenas.
One of the most classic of classic rock songs.
Not all songs have to have deep meaningful lyrics. Rock music especially is all about evoking a feeling and having fun. I love songs with clever insightful lyrics and "substance" but the music itself is the most important part. If the music moves you in some way then that is what really matters. That is why music is a universal language and the ultimate art form (in my opinion).

Its strange, but they were from England.
You would have to been there and they are a english band they were great in concert.
The drum beat at the beginning is supposed to be the headboard of a bed hitting the wall. Nothing secret about the meaning behind this song...

I saw the moment you figured out what the song was about, while your husband was rocking out to the beat. You kept your dignity. I wonder if people suggest sexual songs just to see how you react. Like a bunch of little boys.
Foghat live 1977 album they have the best recording of Slow Ride. It's Audio Only stay away from the AV recordings because they're no good they were very poorly recorded and then nobody took care of the recordings.
Foghat is most definitely NOT southern rock. They are a blues based hard rock band from England. Their live shows were legendary. Try listening to something off their Foghat Live album. Fool For The City, I Just Want To Make Love To You, or Honey Hush. All great and all very different (if you want HARD rock, listen to Honey Hush).

@@De_Futura They had mentioned that maybe it was a Southern Rock band . I just told them it wasn't and they were from England. I know what type of band they are i have been a fan of theirs since the early 70's

The song is about having sex. The live version of the song is the best.
Its about having sex ? Slow down ? Slow ride
The lyrics were simple and repetitive...the poignant subject matter gives them weight...I guess
