I had the great privilege of see Foghat, Molly Hatchet, and the Outlaws all perform at Full Throttle Saloon back in the day. Great times! "Take me to the River" is a great track to check out! Harri this group is right up your alley! Great choice on the extended version.

Great to see your reaction to Slow Ride by Foghat. I saw them live a few times in the late 70's early 80's and they are without a doubt one of the very best LIVE bands of all time! What a show they put on! High energy Rock-n- Roll Blues like no other. It a shame they are not in the Rock-n- Roll Hall of Fame. What a talented 4-piece band with a unique sound that's unmatched. Explore more of their music and hear for yourself. Rock In Peace Foghat, your music lives on forever!

This song always makes me think of the movie “Dazed and Confused”, which included this and many other iconic songs from the 70’s. Great stuff. 🌺✌️

The songs they used in that movie were perfectly placed for each scene, almost like they were all written specifically for Dazed and Confused.

There's also a great live version of this song. Whenever I play it while cruising down the highway in my car, it reminds me to take my foot off the gas pedal a bit - unlike when I play AC/DC, which always makes me drive faster. 😆 "Fool For The City" is another terrific Foghat tune - either the studio or the live version.

We called them Fog Hat, like a hat made of fog. And I saw them twice, as headliners around 1974, then again as one of the opening bands for Emerson, Lake and Palmer and their orchestra at Soldier Field in Chicago in 1977. They were a wild, good time.

I saw them sometime in that ‘76-‘77 period after the Fool For The City album got my attention. I’m in SW Michigan. It seems that kids from the midwest felt a more urgent need to see them? You’re right, they were a wild, good time. I love every track from that album (still).

Hi Harri. I don't know if pronunciation across the pond is different, but I've always heard the name pronounced as two words: Fog Hat even though they put the words together for their name. I don't know if one or the other is more correct.

Attempt to prefer their first album the most but this album is just so classic. The epitome of Arena Rock and the song was just such a popular party song. And yeah, clearly it's about a nice long romp in the sack with the climax at the end. But it's also a great driving song. If you want to hear them totally go off oh, you've got to check out there Chuck Berry cover called Maybelline and it's off their first album and it's just mind-blowing how hard these guys can rock out.

The core of this band was part of the English blues band Savoy Brown. They split with that band's founder and guitarist Kim Simmonds and formed Foghat. Try some Savoy Brown, maybe the song "Lookin In" for a sense of where they cut their chops.

Foghat Live - six tracks ( my only complaint ever was that it was a single live album during an era full of double and even triple live albums ) Pick any of the six tracks and enjoy . Personally , I say go straight to Road Fever or Honey Hush - then enjoy the other four tracks .

Listening to Foghat in the car and committing "traffic atrocities?" Well then, you MUST check out "Drivin' Wheel," off "Night Shift" (1976). kzread.info/dash/bejne/dptrxMGEntPLZLg.html Since you appreciate the "Slow Ride" drum/bass groove, you should know that Foghat actually was between bassist when they recorded "Slow Ride" (their signature song & biggest hit) and the rest of the "Fool for the City" album (1975), which became their first Platinum record. Founding bass player Tony Stevens had grown tired of the band's constant Stateside touring, so producer Nick Jameson sat in & played "interim" bass. By the time "Fool for the City" was released, "new guy" Craig McGregor (1949-2018) had joined the band & he's the guy you hear on "Driving Wheel."
