Love Foghat, saw them live several times in the 70's. Several of the members came from the band "Savoy Brown". They are still rocking today out on tour. The music that I grew up on, love it!

That's interesting. As a Brit, Savoy Brown is a name I have heard of. They, and Chicken Shack, are both connected to Fleetwood Mac.

"Slow Ride" is a song by the British rock band Foghat. It was the lead single from their fifth studio album, Fool for the City (1975), released on Bearsville Records. In 2009, it was named the 45th "Best Hard Rock" song of all time by VH1.[2] There are five versions of this song on the market. The original LP version from Fool for the City lasts 8 minutes and 14 seconds. The single version, found in several compilations, was truncated to 3:56 with a fade-out ending. The 1977 live version is 8:21, the King Biscuit Flower Hour Foghat version is 10:37 and the 2007 live version is 9:44. The song was used at the end of Richard Linklater's film Dazed and Confused (1993), and in The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run (2020)

Yes, please go down the FOGHAT rabbit hole. I remember, during a live stream chat I made a point to Larry/Ethan that if they were going to react to FOGHAT please do a song besides SLOW RIDE as every other channel does ONLY this song by FOGHAT as if it was the only song they recorded. They released 8 albums from 1971-78 with about 100 songs from which reactors can choose. Ethan can rest assured their is a literal treasure trove of bass playing like what he noted here throughout ALL OF FOGHATS WORK. The rhythm section is PART of what they were known for. They were also known for high energy blues/boogie based rock and roll that will blast your face off. Saw them in the mid-1970s at an outdoor amphitheater in Michigan. Great show, high energy. Peace.

Put this song in your 8-track or cassette player BITD, and start off in your old 1970’s car, just driving at the normal speed…. By the time you get to the last verse, check up on your speed…. So easy to be topping 90 or 100mph ( or more). I speak from experience- as a driver, but also as a passenger! Found out recently, that this song also causes The same reaction today! Drive Safely my friends!

Foghat is a phenomenal band! If you want to hear some great Foghat bass check out I Just Want To Make Love To You off the Foghat Live album. Also great on that album is Honey Hush (kicks SEVERE butt!), Fool For The City, and Road Fever. Foghat Live was multi platinum. Great studio tracks are Stone Blue, Take Me To The River, Drivin' Wheel, and Terraplane Blues. One of the reasons Live is so good was their bass player Craig "Thunder fingers" MacGregor. The original bass player was great but Craig kicked it up a notch. Soooo funky-smooooth!

This is one of those rare songs for me that my first memory of the song was replaced by a newer memory. This came out when I was a sophomore in high school. I like it enough, but I found it a bit raunchy. So now, it will forever remind me of the end of “Dazed and Confused”. Somehow it doesn’t seem raunchy to me now at all. It’s a great song.

movie DAZED AND CONFUZED (takes place 1976 last day of school) ENDS WITH THIS SONG AND THE YOUNGSTERS HEADIN TO GET AEROSMITH TICKETS!! FUCK YES!!!! makes me wanna quit bass even though i dont even play bass!!

Here's a bit of trivia for you: That "ratchety" sound that you hear in between each line of the verses was made by putting a microphone inside the case of a rotary-dial phone, then recording the sound of someone quickly dialing a "0" and letting the spring-loaded mechanism return back to its starting point. :-)

This is one of those songs that my dad is tired of hearing, but I just love it as someone who hasn't heard it play as much as him! :)

A great classic song...I still hear it on the radio regularly. This and Fool For The City are the only Foghat songs I know but they are both great tunes. This is interesting (and uncontroversial, thankfully). I had never heard of Foghat until the livestreams on this channel, and I've just found out why - they're a British band from London, formed in 1971, who relocated to the US after signing a record deal with Bearsville Records in Bearsville near Woodstock, NY. They have only charted in the US, Canada and Australia. There is no data for them in the UK at all. I quite liked it, and they seemed to avoid too much repetition by breaking up the structure of the song, which is always interesting. Gets a 'like' from me and I really enjoyed the genuine, honest, and positive reactions.

It's the comedy genius of the writers on Yes, Minister, which are inspired by the diaries of former minister Anthony Crossland, who wrote about the inner workings of the Government and Civil Service. If you go to my TV Clips playlist, the first clip is from Yes, Minister and is the one where Sir Humphrey explains the real reasons we went into the EEC/EU, and bear in mind this episode was in 1980, just 7 years after we joined, and 36 years before we finally voted to leave.

Ah, my favorite band all-time and saw them LIVE in the 70's and their reformation in the 90's more than 25 times. With Lonesome Dave Peverett on lead vocals and guitar, and the great lead guitarist Rod Price who played both slide and standard leads. Here on "Slow Ride" that blazing lead guitar was bottleneck slide, which many consider him as good as there ever was. Sadly both Lonesome Dave and Rod Price have passed away (2000 and 2005 respectively). The current band is NOT the real Foghat as the drummer Roger Earl is the only remaining true member. IMO WITHOUT Lonesome Dave and Rod Price there is no Foghat, as both of those very talented musicians were the cornerstone of Foghat...period! Here is the band performing LIVE for TV in 1974, and the duo of Peverett and Price (love the dueling guitars) playing "I Just Want To Make Love To You".
