This is one of those songs that epitomizes '70s rock music to me. It never gets old.

All Foghat music should be listened to live. Great live band.

Yes, like others have mentioned, there are extended versions of this song, both studio and especially live but find one from the original band in the 70s, those guys were the kings of hard rocking boogie, they were fire. Enjoy! 🎵🎸🎤🎸🎶

Actually the 8+ minute version is the original, as some see or think extended as an updated version done later. The truth is this reaction is the AM top 40 version. The FM stations always played the original album 8+ minutes, and the Classic Rock stations today still do.

I grew up one street away from Craig McGregor who was the bass player during the band's big arena rock days. He replaced the original bass player who quit the band when they relocated to the U.S. from the UK to take advantage of their bigger popularity in the states. Craig was long gone when I was a kid but would come down to visit his mom in his cool corvette with his aviator shades on. He had a Fu Manchu stashe at the time and looked kind of like Harry Shearer in "Spinal Tap"!

Great song, but this is the short version that leaves off the incredible, impactful guitars and vocals at the end that are like a sonic orga$m.

One of the greatest rock bands ever. They took you on a ROCKet ride. So crisp and tight was their sound. I love this group. Stone Blue, fantastic song and album. Also "It Hurts Me Too" ,a must to react to. It's a cover of an Elmore James hit, One of the great blues artists of the '30s.

Back in the disco era, they'd play this song as a part of a "rock break" sometime during the night! People could rock but still dance to it. It was a welcome break for those of us who went to the discos just for the women!!! lol

this was the "radio-friendly" short version. the full-length song had a lot more to it, including the long simulated-sex slide-guitar solo at the end, which is why most stations wouldn't play it back then.

Sadly lead singer Dave Peverett and guitarist Rod Price have passed. Original drummer Roger Earl still records and performs with great new members. Even recorded a full blues album. They're still kicking ass.

The 1977 live called Foghat Live is probablythe best none one. They played Slow Ride and I Just Want To Make Love To You differently every time they played them. I love the one from either King Biscuit Flower Hour or dang can't remember the other one but they are both awesome. They go into Who Do You Love close to the end before ending the song it was awesome

What is the meaning of Foghat? The new line-up was named "Foghat" (a nonsense word from a Scrabble-like game played by Peverett and his brother) in January 1971. There is a cartoon drawing on the back cover of the group's first album of a head wearing a foghat. Foghat relocated to the United States after signing a deal with Bearsville Records.

Is Foghat still around? Foghat celebrated their 50th anniversary in 2021, and their live performances show why the band is still around and why they will be able to keep on rockin' as long as they want to play! Their music is timeless, and touring is part of their DNA.

Foghat was a favorite of mine and still is. People only think of this song because of it being their biggest hit. This version you played is not the full slbum version. This song is way longer. One a my favorite songs is Step Outside. This is from their 1974 album Energized. I think Dee will like it. It has a lot of early 70s funk and a great guitar solo by Rod Price. Please check it out. Dang it this was the edited version so you didn't even get to hear the breakdown predominantly bass and drums for a short time and yeah man that's where it gets even more funky.. So I got a couple stories to run by you real quick... In the 80s I was in a band that played at this gig in Ohio and the next night it was going to have foghat come in and do a show but my lame-ass had to go do laundry so I missed seeing them then fast forward about 10 years in the 90s I was in a different band and we play Dan outdoor festival here in Michigan and the foghat was supposed to be at that venue but that's when there was a family emergency with in that band and they didn't make it there either. Not too long after that the lead singer/guitarist Dave passed away.

They definitely weren't talking about driving around in a car 🤣
