As an Apple repair shop owner who has done this repair, the comment about using a celebrity tech vs a real one had me on the floor! Watching you two do this repair was hilarious. Breaking a 27" iMac screen is the standard initiation to mac repair. Don't worry you only do it once! Use the iFix it wedge tool and I use a piece of packing tape on the bottom edge once I have the screen in place, during testing, before I tape it closed. Also, I recommend using 5mm 3M automotive foam tape to seal it. If you have to reopen it, it's far easier, like the original apple tape the iFix it strips are a rip-off and are a good way to break the screen if you need to reopen it! Learn from others' mistakes whenever possible!

It's funny; the new Computer was about $5000 and worth it... but the part that was worth only $800 was being sold for $4000.... makes no sense at all... like, you'd be better off just buying a new computer.... I personally will not touch an Apple product of any kind because I feel that any company that price gouges their users and then will not allow them to repair / upgrade units and forces them to replace the entire unit doesn't deserve my hard earned money. Nope, I'll build the PC myself and at the same time, make sure I can upgrade everything in it whenever I want to do so. Screw Apple, it's a garbage (Quality) product anyway

When Linus said that you can legit die from touching the exposed power supply, he wasn’t kidding! I had an older iMac come to my repair shop and I forgot it was still plugged in, and when I was removing the cables, I accidentally touched the power supply and in an instant I thought my heart stopped. My finger was slightly burned and hurt for a week. Please be careful when doing this

As a technician I had to stop myself from screeming "LAY THE MACHINE FLAT" this whole video. That solves most issues with this repair.

I've always loved Louis' deadpan delivery of everything he says.

This entire series is a great discussion on the subject of "Right to repair" Linus thank you for sharing your experience with repairing a new item. I know when you buy a new car, for the first couple of years, you have to go to the dealership to have the car worked on, just because the parts or knowledge on repairing the car are not immediately available.

A Lenovo P520 will get you superior upgradability, superior power down the line (swappable GPU's - what an idea!). superior reliability, lower noise at load (hey, who knew putting a computer further away from your ears could make things quieter?) and better support - the unit has 3/3/3 onsite support for starters and you can extend it to 5.

Apple: And I took that personally.

In 2020 I changed myself a defective HDD inside an older iMac and I also used the iFixit tools and adhesive, worked like a charm. That iMac still works, when I meet the owner he thanks me every time for saving his mac :D

Besides the fact that it is socketed, they still treat the logic board as a single unit, so it may as well have been soldered, in which case someone had to be fired for implementing sockets. True story, proprietary hardware sucks. (even though it is an Intel Xeon) 🤦🏻‍♂️

Love this video! LTT guys 2 things that i liked about this whole ordeal. The steps it takes to repair a computer and the SAFETY aspect that death could happen! Would like to see more repair and safety reviews on this and other computers! This was very informative to me and hope to see more like this!

I would watch a sitcom starring Louis Rossman. The combination of his camera awkwardness and sense of humor and just general positive / cynical outlook to life is so refreshing XD
